Subject: Fancy dress & count down (Pregame 1 EN Storage)

Yori was quietly standing on the ceiling sipping from her sippy cup like a damn psycopath. The 2nd lieutenant was dressed in what appeared to be a traditional samurai costume complete with impractical headwear. Anyone who approached her was given a short printout outlining the names of the different clothing items and a short note as to their uses.

The fact that nobody else seemed to be doing this confuses Yori.

The fact someone not only sat on the ceiling chairs (yay!) but then used the sippy cups pleased me. However, lots of extra marks for Yori just being downright strange here. I chuckled. Her standing alone in samurai garb on the ceiling handing out leaflets and looking confused is going to be my image of this character for some time.

Yori is going for the Most Memerable title early this game, our whole conversation has been a blast but this is perfect.

"Oh."

Mei's mood grew sour.

"I'm sorry to hear that. I hope things change so that you feel comfortable returning. I am sure my return will be difficult given where I've been and what I've been doing. I too am from middling stock but I was lucky enough to grow up on a pleasure world so things were better than most places I have seen in or out of the Confed. It opened my eyes a lot so I'm sure there are things I still do not see. Our cultures are not so distant but to others it seems extremely foreign. Whatever they may say about our homes I just try remember that if their homes were so great why did they leave? It is tough everywhere, we must build peace for ourselves."

"Hmmm, it is possible. I have to kill someone to make it happen and that appears to be far off. Still, your concern is appreciated."

Yori slowly and horrifyingly reaches up an arm and awkwardly pats Mei on the shoulder.
"I believe you have a logical understand of cultural differences that is relatively close to my own. That is good."
Letting her hand drop.

"I will change the subject to something more jovial now. Would you like to list another personal interest? Alternatively, if you have gossip about other members of the Angels I will listen."

No setup or teardown needed. Dishes done and put away. Dumb shirtless suspender wearing firefighter costume on. Sippy cup with water in hand. He was there to observe the expectation to participate in the party. His expression said that was about it. So he kicked off against a wall slowly and blindly, drifting in some random direction. The fire helmet sure to protect his head.

He made an unenthusiastic "woo" noise at the speech.

I've known a tiny handful of people like this in real life. They participate because it is expected, but they do not enjoy it. The Butcher is totally nailing this.

I can't get the mental image of him in a firefighter costume out of my head. So funny!

"Allow me to support Hrafnhildur's compliments with my own."
There is a long and uncomfortable pause.
"I believe you are mostly competent. I appreciate that you maintain good personal hygiene."
Much longer pause.
"Physically you are attractive?"

See it's that question mark at the end that makes this post from Yori EXTRA brilliant. Just perfect.

The picture does not speak, which is perhaps a good thing. Yori finally breaks the silence again:

"I've continued the exercises you recommended to me. Making sure to blink, making sure to maintain eye contact, asking individuals about themselves even though I do not personally care. It seems to be working, my average conversation length has greatly increased."

Sitting back and idly running a finger up and down the blade's edge
"A comrade offered to lend my some of his manga. I believe he is a weeb. Still, it was a kind gesture and the stories he lent have been interesting. Others have been kind as well, Hrafnhildur even provided me with a pig."
Looking back down at the picture
"It was not a real pig, but a mechanical contraption she created. It was a nice gesture, I hope the universe is not as unpleasant to her as you were to me."

A reflection of the light makes the picture seemed annoyed but Yori ignores it.

I feel this definitely deserves a note.

After a well-rested night, morning visit to the gym and a good breakfast, Richard returned to his quarters with a cup of coffee. Yesterday he had put his reports and comics back and his carpentry projects were also done to date. Now something else made its way onto his desk, a form. A form that Yori had given him yesterday, he had only read the title yesterday and then put it away again and was now thinking about how to fill it in.

He would have liked to call Mei and ask what the hell he should write in, but he believed that even Mei could do little with the questionnaire.

"Staring at it won't get it done," he muttered to himself and sat down.
He took the title page in his hand, took out a ballpoint pen and read through the document carefully.



The first questions were quite harmless and simple, he went through them point by point and answered them.



After answering the first questions, he took the time to read the next.



"What the,..... " Richard was glad to be in his private rooms. For half the questions that had been asked, he didn't even know the answer. And the amount of details asked was,... high. He filled in the questions to the best of his knowledge and left blank the fields to which he had no answer, nor the means to take measure.

A little blushed he went to the next sheet:

"So,..." he murmured. "Question 1: How would you describe yourself as a lover: Greatest strength? Greatest Weakness? What do look for in a Partner?,.... huh".

These questions were at least a bit more pleasant than the ones before, so Richard took it upon himself to think about the questions.
In fact, he hadn't given much thought to the questions so far, so it was difficult for him to put his finger on it. Nevertheless, he tried his best to answer them accurately.



That should be right,... right? Now onto Question no.2!



Another question answered, only seven to go!



Richard took a sip of coffee and massaged his temples. He had rarely been so preoccupied with the subject as he was right now, and the fact that it reminded him of a school test didn't make it any better. Nevertheless, he was pleased with himself and went to the next sheet.

"Question 4: What qualities do you not want present in a partner? Do you Snore & How much Hair do you shed?"
Richard smirked, he was wondering when the Yori specific questions would show up.



Question 4 was quite tricky, since he couldn't put his finger directly on what really bothered him about others, but his answer was at least in the right direction.





Questions 5 & 6, on the other hand, were answered quickly.
Page 3 was done and took just half as much time as pages 1 and 2 did. On to page 4!

"Almost there" he muttered, reading the questions on page 4 aloud to himself again, "Question 7: How do you feel about fish? Question 8: How do you deal with separation? Question 9: Would you describe your approach to relationships as: a)casual b)romantic c)fixated d)you do not form relationships?"
Another sip of coffee, before arming himself with the ballpen again.


The fish question was typical for her, but Richard couldn't answer it more honestly than that. When he saw the fish in Yori's quarters it inspired him to make the necklace, but he really didn't know much about the creatures except that they tasted good fried.


Question 8 was again something to think about, but at least here Richard had more knowledge about himself than in the previous questions.




He made a clean line under answer A) and spotted a box for annotation on the last page explaining his answer in more detail.

Exhausted, he let himself fall back. He stayed like that for a few minutes before he took the whole thing in his hand again, checked it for spelling mistakes and put it together in a neat pile.

He looked for an envelope to put the stack in and left his quarters to deliver the questionnaire.

This is probably the most complicated way to ask for a date I've ever seen, he thought to himself on the way.

Subject: D8:LA:Windyridge Guest House - Cave Exploring - Expecting

"Quite possibly, how well mapped is the guest house itself? There is a small chance it could be hiding something like a mechlift."

"Well let's head back and look around."

...

Richard maneuvered his Vulcan back out of the cave and up to the guesthouse.

Ah yes, piloting a walking robot of destruction up to a guesthouse. What could go wrong?

They did. Comstar was also controlled by aliens. But since the major controversy in the Truth community was if the aliens controlling Comstar were in league with the aliens Kerensky led the Star League to fight or if they were a separate force. It was best to not try to confuse. Regardless, these aliens were invading soon.
