D8:LA:Windyridge Guest House - Cave Exploring - Expecting

Going off road again, Richard has to go slowly and carefully through the thick trees nearer the cliff edge. He does arrive safely where there is a spectacular view on the monitor and through the ferro-glass. The guest house was somewhere off to his left. There were some rocks leading down to the water before the cliff reappeared up to where the guest house was on higher ground.

"Going down" he announced while he carefully made his way down to the rocks toward the cliffs.
"Do you see anything Yori?" he asked.

[Yori Hakamada]

Yori peers around carefully
"I am trying to estimate the location of those caves in comparison to the signal. I recall they were roughly 75.8 meters along the coast from the guest house."

[GM Yuusha]

Heading that way would take them past the base of the guest house. It looked to be built above caves. There were even stairs heading down and what seemed to be a concrete viewing platform.

[Richard Winter]

"Looks like the only way in is the caves, do you think the Vulcan will fit in there?" he asked judging the entrance of the caves

[Yori Hakamada]

"It might be cramped, but it is a smaller mech. I believe your piloting skills are sufficient."
Pause, looking over
"I mean, I have faith in your, Richard."

[Richard Winter]

"Thank you" he said with a warm tone.

"Let's see what our phantom signal was!" he said and maneuvered the mech into the cave.

The closest cave was wide enough to fit the Vulcan through, but it was not deep at all. Just rocks that would have been submerged at other times with the tide, leading up to the rear walls. There was definitely no mech. Just a dark cave.

[Yori Hakamada]

"...Well you did it. But it appears we did not do it."
Yori peers at the sensors again, trying to work back to the readings and where they were when they saw them.

"If whatever it is is not in the caves...then was it's signal being blocked by the guest house itself? Very curious."

[Richard Winter]

"Something must be wrong here, the signal didn't come from anywhere else..."

Richard pondered.

[Yori Hakamada]

"Alternative theories."
Yori sounds as though she's quickly reading off a mental list.

"There is a hidden door or entrance in the cave.
There is a hidden door or entrance in or by the guest house, the mech is below that.
There are other caves further along.
The guest house was between us and the signal, the mech is somewhere past that.
It is in the hills somewhere.
We are both experiencing a shared hallucination."

[Richard Winter]

"If there's a hidden door, I don't think we'll be able to open it without violence... I could try to knock out some of the walls, but there's a risk that we'll be buried along with the guesthouse." He shook his head.
"But there would be the option that somewhere here is a mechlift. The people from Budai had one, maybe those who have the mech also have one?"

[Yori Hakamada]

"If there's a hidden door, I don't think we'll be able to open it without violence... I could try to knock out some of the walls, but there's a risk that we'll be buried along with the guesthouse." He shook his head.
"But there would be the option that somewhere here is a mechlift. The people from Budai had one, maybe those who have the mech also have one?"

"Quite possibly, how well mapped is the guest house itself? There is a small chance it could be hiding something like a mechlift."

[Richard Winter]

"Well let's head back and look around."

Richard maneuvered his Vulcan back out of the cave and up to the guesthouse.

[GM Yuusha]

As might be expected, there are some shrieks from a staff member in the garden as Richard's bipedal warmachine appears just outside. The waiter, still shrieking and screaming in terror at the unknown charcoal coloured death robot, flees with all due haste into the house.

At least there were no guests?

Still no sign of a mech. No sign of any mech lift either... unless it was under the grass and flowers? Maybe Richard should shoot them to be sure, or kick over the building... what could go wrong?

[Yori Hakamada]

"Hmmm, they were nicer when we came on foot."
Yori scans around for anything obvious.

[Richard Winter]

"Hmmmmmmm" Richard checked the scanner again.
"Where are you,..."

[GM Yuusha]

(Investigation [perception] rolls please)

Nobody was firing at them from the house. At least, not yet.
