Salvage Operations Part 3 (D10 EM-LM Camp Kerkina Event)

Camp Kerkina has been captured and there is much to collect. Once again it's time to find and gather whatever valuable salvage can be found. The electrical storm has complicated things however, and there is evidence that some buildings and items have been looted overnight by unknown elements. Nothing especially valuable to the Angels has been taken, just small arms, explosives and ammunition really, but it and the risk of a counter-attack really hurry along the salvage operations. Due to the distances involved, everything had to be loaded onto the Angels' Leopard dropship, which would be doing multiple trips. Some smaller items are instead loaded onto VTOLs. Anything else the Militia might still be able to use had to be destroyed. The electrical storm and the need to keep the Leopard mostly empty means only a single HaulerMech is brought along, so mechs are only useful for offloading.

Those with time to spare are encouraged to take part, contributing however they best can. This event runs over two timeslots, but characters only need to allocate one timeslot of the two to participate. This should be made clear in the post.

Participants should choose how they wish to assist. There are three steps for this event. Finding salvage, identifying the worth and transporting it. Each step has different options. Participants should pick an option for each step, which will mean either an auto-pass or a roll for each step. At least one option with a roll must be taken. I.e. You can choose options that auto-pass twice, but not for all three steps. The choices picked, if successfully rolled for, will award Salvage Points. These grant bonuses as below. However, should you fail any roll you will not be able to contribute Salvage Points. If you avoid choosing option d) for any of the three steps then your final Salvage Points total will be doubled.

The three characters who contribute the most salvage points will gain 0.1 fame.

Step 1 - Finding salvage
a) I'll find some! - You look for salvage yourself, checking inside buildings, at battle sites and among wreckages. This is an Investigation [Perception] roll TN15. This awards 1 Salvage Point and 1 per raise.
b) I'll check the logs! - You search the combat logs, reports and communications for information on where to find salvage. This is a Computers [Intelligence] roll TN25. This awards 3 Salvage Points and 2 per raise.
c) I'll find out! - You speak to some of the captured crews and other prisoners to learn what salvage and supplies are nearby. This is an Interrogation [Perception] roll TN20. This awards 2 Salvage points and 2 per raise.
d) Leave it to others - You're not here to find it. Besides, isn't it everywhere? You auto-pass this step. Gain 1 Salvage Point.

Step 2 - Identifying the worth
a) I've seen this before! - You've been involved in ordering enough supplies and equipment that you can pinpoint the items the Angels need. This is an Administration (Logistics) [Intelligence] TN15 roll (due to Impact). This awards 2 Salvage Points and 2 per raise.
b) I know the value of things! - You've participated in enough business deals to know what's expensive and what's not. This is a Commerce [Awareness] roll TN20. This awards 3 Salvage Points and 2 per raise.
c) I have the technical know how! - You have enough expertise in your field that you simply know what's useful or how to repair damaged parts that have been found. This is a Technician: Any roll [Intelligence] TN15 or Medtech [Intelligence] roll TN15. This awards 2 Salvage Points and 1 per raise. Spit and Polish grants a free raise on this roll.
d) It looks fine - You don't know or don't care what it is worth. You think it's probably valuable. You auto-pass this step. Gain 1 Salvage Point.

Step 3 - Final Arrangements
a) I'll do it - You will drive a vehicle or pilot a mech to help transport the salvage onto the Leopard or offload it. This is a Piloting or Driving [Reflexes] roll TN25 (due to the weather). This awards 3 Salvage Points and 2 per raise.
b) You can't use this anymore - You assist with the demolition efforts to deny some parts of the Camp to the Akos Militia should they seek to reclaim it. This is a Demolitions (controlled blasts) [Intelligence] roll TN20. This awards 3 Salvage Points and 2 per raise. Success on this roll increases Threat by 0.1. If you fail this roll by more than 5 you will take 4k2 (exploding) damage.
c) Strategic thinking - You help identify what's worth taking back as a priority and what needs to be destroyed. This is a Strategy (Logistics) [Intelligence] roll TN15. This awards 1 Salvage Point and 1 per raise.
d) Need assistance - You've found salvage. Just leaving it in a pile and letting someone else transport it is fine. You auto-pass this step. Gain 1 Salvage Point.

50 Salvage Points = +0.1 Strength
75 Salvage Points = +0.2 Strength
100 Salvage Points = +0.2 Strength, +0.1 Impact
125 Salvage Points = +0.3 Strength, +0.1 Impact
150 Salvage Points = +0.4 Strength, +0.1 Impact
175 Salvage Points = +0.5 Strength, +0.2 Impact
200 Salvage Points = +0.6 Strength, +0.3 Impact

This particular salvage operation was different than the others. There was certainly a higher tempo and the knowledge that they could not stay was certainly a factor where it wasn't before. In a practiced maneuver, Klaus begins to rifle through the computer logs. By now, he was an old hand at cracking the Akos militia's encryptions and their storage practices all followed the same logic. Finding the storage site was no problem whatsoever, opening up a treasure trove.

"Bingo." After that, it was logistics. It was all useful, but not everything can be taken in time. Klaus marks what is portable and most valuable.

John does what he can to help out with the salvage, locating a couple of nice pieces, but can seem to process them properly and gets some stuff confused, messing with the salvage operations.

Like many other salvage ops before Alek k ew his strengths and knew where he just got in the way. So the big man showed up towards the end and just helped get all the salvage others found back to the drop site

Charlie starts off by looking through the computer logs. Then, he goes to inspect the possible salvage he found. Finally, he decides what is worth keep and what should be left behind.

Eilonwy joined the salvage teams again. There wasn't much to find this time, but she helped locate what medical supplies there were and sift through it all to retrieve the best items.

It was early morning, and Yoko wasn't going to take any chances. She mostly knew what she was doing with salvage at this point, but she didn't press herself. She just got what looked valuable, got it where it needed to be, and got out.

Fortunately, all her time shopping lately and salvaging paud off in the quality of what she managed to get her hands on.

Alex tried to log into the computers and find out what the place and seem that the storm interference and the tired eyes may have not allow the penguin to firnd what the Angels were looking for.

That damn storm made Richard feel a slight tingle in the connector between his prosthetic and his arm, which didn't make it easy to find any valuable salvage and the time pressure didn't help either.

Therefore it was not surprising that he left the finding and identifying of the devices, weapons and other things to the people who had a clue what they were doing.

He concentrated hard on just getting the salvage from A to B as quickly and efficiently as possible, and in that, he was successful.

Catherine is always ready to offer a helping hand for the salvage operations after a day of fighting. And yesterday went really well. To bad the weather today is pretty terrible, but she won't let that deter her. With that, she leaves finding and identifying stuff to other people and just focuses on transport in a temporarily borrowed spare mech.

Simple and satisfying. It's not as comfortable as her own Dúthracht, but does the job well enough.

Mary was really struggling in this weather. The storm was really play havoc, both with her bionic eye AND with the mech. Still, the Angels needed her to at least try. Hopefully she wouldn't lose more armor driving around in this nonsense only to bring back a rock.

Was that something? Mary tried covering her bionic eye but it really didn't help...it just kept feeding her nonsense data rather than recognizing it was covered.

Step A Per/Investigation 24 vs. TN 15, Pass

Well...it was heavy and didn't fall apart as soon as she picked it up. However the chance of doing much to assess it's value or quickly haul it back to base in these conditions was too risky. So she hauled it back to at least show something for the day.

Gianna was out early along with her team, scouring the field for useful salvage of any description. With a bit of luck and team effort, the Kindergarten found some good stuff - and Gianna knew it too. She was so pleased with the early haul, in fact, that she threw herself into additional searching and salvage identification in support of other teams, while Spare, Lights Out and Princess somewhat slowly, but with good care, saw their treasures loaded and delivered back to the Angels' base.

Result:

The Camp was cleared quickly of the most valuable items the Angels could find. A lot had to be destroyed or left behind, as there was limited time, but all the mechs and the most valuable vehicles were taken. The other issue was the number of prisoners to take back, which caused delays. Even so, the effort was worthwhile - the Angel's combat strength would increase and the AFFC would be pleased. By the time the Leopard completes its final trip back to the main dropsite the storm overhead was in full swing.

Strength rises by 0.3 and Impact rises by 0.1.

Klaus, Eilonwy and Charlie each gain 0.1 fame.
