It's a Race 2 (D9 EE Kerkina Combat)

After taking out some enemy forces in the woods you approach the outskirts of the main part of the base. Elsewhere the assault has begun. Your lance is instructed to rush the enemy position to take out the mechs ahead while they're offline. Alternatively, infantry have been spotted heading toward the mechs. They're likely shielding the pilots. If you can take them out we can take the mechs undamaged. Hurry ahead while our slower forces move in to support and relieve you.

Objective: Either cripple the mechs before they're manned or take out the infantry. Other targets are secondary.

Note: Infantry squads are 7 soldiers strong. 1 of them will be a mechwarrior. The squad can be taken out in two ways:
1) Kill all 7 members
2) Successfully kick the squad to force them to surrender

If a squad reaches a mech it will come online the turn thereafter. Until then they are shutdown and stationary. Should 2 or more mechs be taken undamaged, Impact will increase by 0.1. Should all 4 be taken undamaged, Impact will increase by 0.2.

"Yeah. Turtle, happy early birthday. We all want to be in bigger mechs and I had a chance to get one of us closer to to our goals but only one. So, to keep things palatable I decided to give it to the birthday boy. Hoops you're getting the Hermes because it's just more valuable to us, I know you liked the jump jets but I need you to be a team player on this. Turtle you LRM has Inferno rounds so please be careful what you target with all those missiles."

Edit: Today (Sunday) is the day for my tabletop game so my posting will be very slow. If you want to start the fight I will post when I can but if you want to prioritize other people and wait till Monday that is fine; I expect that either way we will resolve it on Monday though I am hoping to resolve it as fast as I can so I can do night threads if I live :)

Mei-Ling's lance mate in the Quickdraw jumped ahead into trees atop a hill. They could just get a glimpse of what was beyond the high man-made hills around the compound. Four mechs and infantry moving toward them. A generalist Enforcer medium mech with large laser and AC-10, which would be a real threat. A lightly armoured Clint, built for sniping. A Locust SRM variant. Finally, a Wolfhound, which was a well armoured light mech with a large laser.

Also defending the base are some SRM troops watching the only ground approach from the north. It would lead to the entrance that would let them in, although the Quickdraw could also jump over the hill. There was a Hunter light tank with an LRM10 on patrol and a Goblin with a large laser at the entrance. There was also a PPC turret.

"Sergeant Racca flying over you now. I'll soften them up."

A sizable Shilone aerospace fighter flew over the lance en route toward the base...

Only the Hermes places its closing fire, killing two SRM troopers (2 dead). Everything else, including shots at the lance, misses.

The Shilone is hit on its right wing by the Goblin's large laser, but the well armoured craft takes the damage and keeps coming. It descends gradually and its bomb bay doors Open. Uh-oh!

Ten cluster bombs are dropped in a line between the tank and the turret. They spread wide and there is a series of explosions as they each hit the ground. The aerospace craft flies west and begins to circle to review the damage. The Goblin had taken a good few hits and its large laser was neutralised. Huzzah! The turret was also battered. However, it was still operational. It comes to life shortly afterwards. Finally, the Wolfhound had a little damage to its leg armour, but nothing serious.

The Goblin crew bail as the Hunter speeds along the walls for a better shot at the attackers. Inside, men ran for the mechs.

The Hermes pilot breathes a sigh of relief as the PPC turret misses the light mech. The Mongoose is not so fortunate and gets hit by some SRMs (4 damage CT, RA). It had armour remaining, but that wasn't nice.

It fires back, killing six infantry (6 dead, 16 left).

The Hermes and Talon do good damage to the turret. Mei-Ling even manages to stun the crew with her ERPPC, making it safer to get closer for a short while (15 damage, crew stunned). Meanwhile the Quickdraw manages a trio of SRM hits on the Hunter, which was struggling to hit the Mongoose (6 damage RS).

The fast Hermes rushes ahead, but its pilot has a boo-boo. Upon pivoting to turn the momentum and smooth surface combine to send the mech into a sideways skid. It slides for quite a distance and even smacks into the heavy hangars! The pilot now had a nasty headache (6 damage CT, 1 pilot hit, 4 damage RT).

The prone Hermes and the more cautious Mongoose do good damage to the tower (9 damage). It looked ready to collapse at any moment. The Talon kills some men (4 from squad #2). It takes a little damage in return, but nothing serious (2 damage LA, 1 damage RA). The Quickdraw also takes some damage from the Hunter's secondary weapons (5 damage CT, LL). Everything else missed.

Mei-Ling then secures the surrender of one squad with a well placed stomp (squad #4 surrenders). Only three squads left, but they were getting close!

The infantry, except those that had surrendered, keep running toward the mechs. The Hunter moved to try supporting them as the PPC turret began to seek targets once more.

The PPC turret hits the Hermes just as it gets up, destroying its right arm (10 damage RA, section destroyed). In response the mech turned the tower into rubble (turret destroyed!).

Mei-Ling's mech is pinged by concentrated small arms fire (1 damage LT). In return she takes out a squad (squad#2 gone!). The Hunter, having found a good hunting spot, rains down LRMs on the enemy. Luckily only a few strike a target - the Hermes (3 damage LT). It was starting to look pretty beat up.

Meanwhile the Mongoose shoots and kicks at a squad, eliminating it. The last squad tries to get around Mei-Ling's mech, but when one of them is stamped on, well, the rest soon give up. After that so too do the Hunter crew and the surviving SRM platoon members surrender.

(All enemies eliminated! Congratulations!)

The Hermes would need longer repairs than her other lance mates' mechs, but at least nobody was seriously hurt. The four seized mechs were worth it.

(Impact increases by 0.2)

(Hermes unavailable until D12 and pilot injured until D11. Everyone else is fine)
