Sheriff Oakley arrives in the early evening with an escort to hopefully finalise negotiations with the Angels. At stake is a prized mech. However, there was possibly more to gain if negotiations were done smartly. The downside would be having to turn over mechs and vehicles to the sheriff's office to persuade them to hand everything over. Of course the sheriff wants as much as he can get. It's up to you to ensure the Angels get the better of him without turning him away from negotiations and thereby making Pryvidok a difficult place to go.
After pleasantries are over, the sheriff gets straight to the point. "What are ya sellin'?"
Note: This is a cooperative event. There are four parts that must each be passed for the prize to won. The parts must be done in order. Each player may only contribute to one part, with each part requiring a single roll. A fifth character may attempt a single part someone else has failed. If this isn't necessary, you may add two Sales Points to the final total. All successful rolls will create Sales Points, which will create a prize for participants and the Angels. Underlings cannot assist for this event. A character with Bad Reputation has the TN of any roll they do increased by +3.
Part 1) The explanation - Someone needs to explain what Yori and Richard were doing in Pryvidok with a mech and why they trespassed. It doesn't necessarily need to be the truth, but it needs to convince the sheriff that no harm to his town was intended and that the guest house's owner was the one at fault for what transpired. This can be done in one of two ways:
• You communicate what happened clearly, from beginning to end, until the sheriff is satisfied.
Roll: Communications [Awareness] TN20
• You politely answer questions from the sheriff until he feels he knows enough.
Roll: Protocol [Willpower] roll TN20, adding your Rank as a static bonus. E.g. If you are Rank 3 you would add +3
Success awards 1 Sales Point and 1 per raise. Yori and Richard each receive a free raise for this part.
Part 2) The pitch - Now that the explanation is out of the way it's time to talk business. Both sides have done an inventory and each has an idea of what they want. The Angels want the mech and parts for a good price. What does the sheriff want? While pitching a general offer, you have to figure out what Pryvidok or the sheriff's office really need or want. This can be done by:
• You will look for clues and apply deduction while warming up with light negotiation.
Roll: Investigation [Perception] TN20, adding your Negotiation skill as a static bonus. E.g. If you are Negotiation 2 you would add +2
• You'll ask directly to find out what they want, but you need to be polite about it.
Roll: Interrogation [Perception] TN20, adding your Protocol skill as a static bonus. E.g. If you are Negotiation 2 you would add +2
• You think about what a small seaside town with limited facilities is most likely going to need.
Roll: Tactics [Perception] TN20, adding any Technician skill as a static bonus. E.g. If you are Technician: Mechtech 2 you would add +2
Success awards 1 Sales Point and 1 per raise. Tanaki, Yori and Richard each receive a free raise for this part.
Part 3) The package - Now you know what they want. An APC, a tank and a few mechs! Quite the demand. Certain mechs cost more or are more valuable to them, as they're easier or less costly to maintain. You need to put together a package worth 8 points. Mechs available are below, which each contribute different amounts of points. You pick which mechs the Angels offer (it must be at least two). Your contribution can lower the number of points needed. You can do this in one of two ways:
• Time to do some sales! You'll sell their worth confidently.
Roll: Commerce [Intelligence] TN20, adding your Technician: Mechtech as a static bonus. E.g. If you are Technician: Mechtech 2 you would add +2. Each raise contributes 1 point toward the package.
• You'll point out their advantages logistically. There's a reason he's willing to give up an expensive to maintain yet very effective mech after all.
Roll: Administration (Logistics) [Intelligence] TN 15. Each raise contributes 1 point toward the package.
Success awards 1 Sales Point and 1 per raise. Tanaki receives a free raise for this part.Mechs:

Part 4) The closer - A package has been offered. Now all that's needed is final negotiations to wrap everything up. As these go on the sheriff points out more things he can offer, each time hoping for a little bit more from the Angels. You need to finalize this thing. This can be done in two ways:
• This is a straight up negotiation. You're good at that.
Roll: Negotiation [Awareness] TN 20.
• The sheriff is easily distracted by a pretty face and this is really more a bribe arrangement than anything else. You can work with that.
Roll: Temptation (bribery) [Awareness] TN 20. Exceptionally Attractive grants a free reroll to this roll.
Success awards 1 Sales Point and 1 per raise. Tanaki receives a free raise for this part.
Prize: If successful, the Angels will receive a Exterminator EXT-4Db mech. This is worth a whooping 16,111,673 C-bills. This will increase Strength by 0.5. Additionally, Sales Points will contribute to rewards for participants. These are cumulative:
6 Sales points: As a team, you make sure all the valuable additional mech parts are handed over. 0.1 Strength gained from additional materials. All participants gain the sheriff as a Devotion 1 Connection.
8 points: Being part of a successful negotiation of this sort has taught you a few things. All participants gain a single skill at rank 1 you do not already possess from those mentioned in this event.
10 points: You carefully bring up the gems and silver bullion. They must have slipped the sheriff's mind. There is surely a reward for having helped free these from a criminal, right? All participants gain a rank of Wealthy.
12 points: The sheriff and the Angels' leadership have connections that can be put to use. For being so generous/effective you can put some of these to use. You may buy off a single disadvantage for 2xp less than normal. E.g. Unexceptional is 4 points and would cost 8xp to buy off. With this it would only cost 6xp.
14 points or more: You've proven to yourself that you have what it takes to assist in valuable negotiations. All participants gain the Good Communicator advantage. If you already have it then you gain 3xp instead.
Failure: If unsuccessful, the sheriff keeps the Exterminator EXT-4Db and everything else from the guest house. On Day 11 he will work to persuade Pryvidok residents that the Angels are hostile, dangerous and lawless. By Day 12 the Angels will not be welcome in the seaside town.
