Bacon and eggs (Pregame 1 LM Cafeteria)

On one of the far side tables, the ones that tended to be a little quieter, an older fellow set down his tray and got comfortable. He had a sip of orange juice. Passable. A little too sweet. The pulpy bits were nice. How long until the fresh goods expired and they had to subsist on long life and frozen goods until they could restock? It wasn't a particularly pleasant thing to think about.

Eric let out a sigh as he shook the saltshaker lightly over his meal. Bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, hash browns, one sausage and half a tomato. It was pretty indulgent by the standards of space travel, but then again this was the commander of a large mercenary outfit. No wonder he got two hash browns instead of one.

Mei slid into the mess bleary eyed and yawning, her hair still damp from a shower. She grabbed a bowl of cereal and some fruit then turned to look for a seat, freezing when she saw that the only person there was The Boss.

Alex had just woke up and needed morning food. The poor mechwarior still a bit groggy but it would pass after some sustenance. The plate was filled with bacon, eggs and tomatoes and hash browns. Alex sat down with the plate and the orange juice. "Mor... yawn ning..." not really aware where Alex was sitting on or with.

Fortunately(?) for Mei-Ling, he didn't seem to notice her. He was too busy starting his meal. Goo would be treated to the sight of someone less fortunate not paying attention and sitting directly opposite the Major.

He looked up quizzically. "Morning Sergeant." Eric smiled faintly, unsure what this was about. "Did you want to talk?" He lowered the forkful of food. So close.

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

Mei took her cue from Alex, sitting down next to them and across from the Major.

"Good morning everyone, hope you both slept well. You feeling alright boss?" She said yawning.

Alex looked at the Major and smiled. "I was walking here on instinct... Major." Alex looked at the man's face. "Seems that you need someone to help you... I guess... I'll be quiet now, sir" Alex sipped the juice and ate a piece of potato.

Alex looked at Mei and smiled. A sigh of relief came to the lips of the young recruit. "I... guess." Answering Mei's question.

For a moment Eric was bewildered. Was this an ill-advised prank? He rose up a little to look around the cafeteria. Nope, it didn't look like it.

"Uhh... I can eat breakfast just fine Alex."

He smiled at Mei-Ling as she offered an escape from the strange conversation starter. "Morning Mei-Ling. Ja, a good sleep. Just hungry. Eat up." He lifted the forkful of food to take a bite. It was good. A shame it was only warm now, but it was good.

She pealed one of her banana's and took a tiny bite.

"So will your daughter be at the party tonight Major? My mom used to let me stay up for the countdown and then rapidly put me to bed so the adults could stop being polite around me." She said with a smile. "Does everyone have their outfits picked out already?" She asked looking at Alex while taking another bite.

Alex nodded. The sergeant looked at Mei and nodded answering again the question about the dress. "Tux..." the young warrior answered aloud.

"Your mom was good to you. Not tonight for little Anna though. It's going to be an adult party from the get go I expect." Seems the Major had some extra intel. "Maybe when she's ten." He looked a bit thoughtful as he considered this. Was he being too restrictive?

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

Alex nodded. The sergeant looked at Mei and nodded answering again the question about the dress. "Tux..." the young warrior answered aloud.

"A tux? Oh super fancy, I bet you look dashing in a tuxedo. Maybe pants are the best choice, I've never been to a zero-G party so I'm not sure how to dress for it. I do look forward to exploring the ship upside down."

"Your mom was good to you. Not tonight for little Anna though. It's going to be an adult party from the get go I expect." Seems the Major had some extra intel. "Maybe when she's ten." He looked a bit thoughtful as he considered this. Was he being too restrictive?

"That's probably the safe choice then though "adult" is a bit vague" She said with a smirk. "Is it alright if I bring some wine to the festivities from my personal stock?" She said unsure if she was even allowed to have a bunch of booze in her room.

The giant of the Angels wandered into the mess with a stretch and a yawn. He was dressed as he usually was in a black shirt and dark pants with his ever present leather jacket with the Angel's emblem over the heart.

The big man grabbed a proportional amount of food, which was to say a massive helping, and joined the group.

"Morning Major! Is a good day for a big breakfast no? Need lots of energy for the party tonight!"

Alek sat down on the Major's side of the table but not too close he nodded to the other "Alex, Mei-Ling. Good to see you this morning as well!" He smiled his word subtly inflected by a touch of his Russian accent.

Alex just nodded and smiled. "Morning Alek." Just continued to take ginger bites of the breakfast served.

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

(Russian) "Good Morning."

She put down an banana peel and sipped some water.

"Are you excited for the party tonight, will you be wearing a fancy suit this evening as well?" She asked the mountain of a man.

"Some wine? I don't have a problem with it, but you'll want to ask Laks. Or Lieutenant Wentworth. They're organising." The Major didn't seem to mind that Mei had booze hidden somewhere.

Aleksandr gets a nod as he sat down. "Morning Alek. You say that, but your breakfasts are always big." A hint of a smirk played on his lips.

Alek smiled to Mei hearing his mother tongue and began to dig into his food for a minute.

He swallowed a large mouthful and chuckled "Well Major when you're this big you need lots of fuel to keep going."

And he looked across the table "Mei I know you're relatively new but I figured by now you'd learn that Im always excited for a party!" He laughs and slaps the table lightly "and ja I'll be dressing up a bit."

Alex just continued to be quiet. Perhaps being a bit awkward not speaking at all just enjoying breakfast. Alex didn't want to bother anyone.

"I hear Laks won a bet so one of her lances are coming in bunny outfits."

Eric shared some gossip.

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"That's an interesting choice, certainly zero-g proof."

Mei was imagining easter bunny style costumes.

"Does anyone else find it a little odd that we still follow this old terran tradition? I mean, I'm not going to balk at an excuse to party but the galaxy is a big place and it's only new years eve on one plant in one system."

[Alex Kovac]

"Traditions keeps us attached to our roots. Or something like that... father used to say." Alex whispered finishing the orange juice.
