Day 6

Day 6 is upon us. More combat! The first four combats are open. The fifth and sixth will open as I finish the others. I don't want to run more than four combats at once. Too much to do and too much chance of errors.

Worth noting that one of you made an effort to increase Threat and it has risen by 0.1 due to player actions. Do remember that your own actions can effect Threat, Impact and Strength.

Lastly, there will not be any patrols today as it is a combat day. Good luck!

Day 7 & 8

Day 7 is now live. Central Akos should be visible to everyone. Torutovy is a pleasant (and very welcoming to you all) mountain town and you can visit it. Please continue to patrol in Southern Akos Open Country, as the dropsite is in Southern Akos.

Day 8 will go live in 24 hours or less. The events are up for it and visible, but they are locked until then. This is to allow time for patrols on day 7.

Do note the latest game mechanic ratings. Strength is low. Remember, you can always effect Strength, Impact and Threat with player actions. Additionally, it is now session 2. Sessional abilities, such as Luck, have now reset.

Good luck in the events and well done surviving a second week of combat :D

Mechanical Changes

After some consideration I'm going to make some mechanical changes.

PC Tokens and Reinforcement Tokens
I will remove the ability of PC Tokens to be used for reinforcements, and separate that into Reinforcement Tokens. High Strength will generate automatic reinforcements on the most difficult combats now. That'll mean no need to negotiate over who gets to use the reinforcement. In additional, I've given all Combat Characters a single Reinforcement Token. Those with a Connection to a combat NPC will find that character arrives to their aid, should they choose to use the Reinforcement Token in a combat. As usual, this should be declared in your opening/first post joining a combat so I can ensure that I add them to the megamek lobby for the Combat before it starts.

In regards to PC Tokens, I hope this means players are more willing to use them for fun scenes in various lively locations, meeting NPCs to advance plotlines and to make interesting encounters when patrolling. To further push this I'm giving all characters 1 additional PC Token. I'll also ensure there is an event in future where others will be available. Please remember that you can invite other players to threads created with a PC Token.

Patrols and Encounters
Patrols have all been very quiet so far. I've not felt overwhelmed by them, as only one has generated an encounter! Threat has also remained low so combat encounters haven't happened. As such, I'll be doubling the chances of encounters from patrols. Instead of a D20, a D10 will be used:

1-2 = Encounter (Could be positive, negative or merely curious)
3-9 = Quiet patrol, but you can spend a PC Token for an encounter
10 = Combat (You'll encounter an enemy)

Day 9 is up. Apologies for the delay. Day 9 will run until Tuesday 1st February. I'll likely shorten day 10 and 11 to get us back on schedule.

Do note that I am constantly updating what mechs are available as people pick mechs and swap them out. I will be updating this post as that is ongoing.

Day 10 and 11

Day 10 and 11 are up. I've been busier this week and a bit tired, so I've slipped behind the game schedule. I'm going to extend Day 10 and 11 and have Day 12 start on Thursday next week, which'll mean it also runs an extra day. Lots of time for combat and to progress plots that folks have going on.

Do check the weather carefully for Day 10 and 11, as well as the Events: Certain Disadvantages (and a few Advantages) are referenced.

Thank you for your patience and I hope you're enjoying the game. Sorry we're a bit behind schedule. Part of it is that the game we were due to be right up against is likely starting later, so we don't have to rush.

I appreciate the feedback and suggestions so far. There will be some downtime after Day 12 so do consider mini-goals for your character. I'll put more information up about that on Day 12, including the rules for the mini-goals. Day 13 will therefore occur after a time skip (wait and see). Day 13-18 will be the third session as planned and Day 19-21 will be wrap up, with final goals. We're more than halfway through the game now.

Finally, I've not updated Fame and Monthly Salaries yet, or the list of available mechs (contrary to what the weather may say!). I'll be doing this tomorrow before I unlock day 11.

Day 12 is now live. I'll give out the Fame and participants rewards for 'More Than a Deterrent' over the weekend, so participants should expect a message to check which reward option you fancy*. I'll be doing the same for the 'What are ya selling?' event too.

Game Update

Combats ran long and I'm a bit worn down due to them, real life and work currently. I would like to finish this game properly however; I just need a bit of a break for a couple of days.

As there have been delays I will be cutting the game short from three and a half sessions (what was 7 weeks) to just three. So, we'll finish on Day 18 rather than Day 21. This will help make up time and stop the game running on too long. It's important to have an end date in mind.

Expect an update on downtime and such soon. As a heads up, there will be a ceasefire on the planet lasting approximately one month. Each character will be able to focus on one mini-goal during this time. Do consider what is achievable in one month. Please ask questions directly to me or in your PFs. Working together will make achieving a goal more likely. Some goals may require rolls or the assistance of NPCs. Others may not be possible with the limited time available or due to circumstances.

I'll put some rules up about this over the next couple of days while replying to threads. Well done surviving Day 12, as the combats were more dangerous than expected (due to a Sworn Enemy and bad dice luck!). I aim to start the final session, Day 13 to Day 18, next week. It'll run for two RL weeks and the game will hopefully finish early March. I'll allow full goals then, which will depend on how the final session goes.

Also, a big thank you from me for sticking with the game. Sorry for the delays. I hope it has been fun nevertheless so far. I've enjoyed it too, even though it has been intense at times. Solo GM games are definitely an undertaking! I've enjoyed the stories immensely regardless and I'm looking forward a great deal to where you take them in the (hopefully thrilling!) conclusion.

Mini-Goals

Phew, I'm back. I needed a break and to recharge. I've done that now. Took a bit longer than hoped, but that's life.

Okay, so, rules on Goals and Mini-Goals are now up. Do note there are two days IRL to choose a mini-Goal for your character. I'll be kicking off Day 13 then.

I have been working on a slightly different plan for the last session, so it will follow a different format to the first two. Wait and see there :D Let's try to wrap up earlier posts. I'll be focusing on threads with NPCs to push those along as they had been neglected when combat was happening.

At this rate the game will finish before March 10th and Goals will then be available for surviving characters of active players.

End of Hiatus

I'm recovered from Covid and emerging from a funk. Sorry for the sudden game hiatus. I've updated everyone's PFs and collected all the mini-goals. I'm working toward game change, but not quite there yet. I intend for the last session to be a little different to what's happened so far - don't worry, not by too much. I had hoped to have everything ready for today, but I need a little more time and to ease myself back into things. Fortunately, we aren't treading on anyone's toes massively big-game wise, so that's something. I hope this hasn't put everyone off the game. Thank you for the kind and supportive messages.

Expect an announcement regarding upcoming game continuation in the very near future. Please do work to wrap up any existing threads in the meanwhile if you haven't already. Also, do spend your xp if you haven't too.
