During quarantine I saw snow crab sold out of the back of a van (they are fished within about three hours drive of where I live). The store I work at has a bunch of scales and I believe my boss basically arranged the whole thing. I think they couldn't export their whole catch at the time (this was in 2020) so it is far from a normal thing.

Yeah, I kind of noticed that the mech upgrade events are clearly catering to non-combat builds.

The custom mech event non combat people CANNOT participate unless they are supporting a combat PC

Pretty much all of the events cater towards non-com characters. Probably a balancing from them not being able to do the combats.

Non combat characters have a little more freedom to spend points on "less useful" skills instead of putting it all in pilot/gunnery and the linked stats. As such we are more likely to have cooking, or commerce or investigation or negotiation. We also more likely to have mental stats like perception/intelligence/awareness. The bright side is this is a team so anything the non-comms are excelling it is helping the combat characters not really taking away from them. I mean we cant keep the upgrade mechs, we just hand them to you :)

Oh yeah I totally get that and wasn't complaining just remarking on the trend. At the end of the day it's a game/setting about big stompy robots so it all mostly ultimately revolves around those big stompy robots.

At least on the surface, I know there's a lot of politics and ideologies deeper in but my knowledge pretty much just sits on robots go boom.

The Patrol Encounters are meant for mechwarriors, but only one so far.

There will be a mechwarrior focused event next week. It's been this way, as has been rightly observed, because Combat Characters get all the fun on combat days, so Non-Combat Characters get the spotlight on them on the other days where mechwarriors can chip in.

Someone who has made ties to non-combat characters is likely to do very well in the custom mech event. Or, at least, that's what seemed likely to me when I made it.

Day 9 combats are going exceptionally well. I hope that hasn't jinxed everyone! Anyhow, they've been fun to run so far. I hope to star the six tomorrow and conclude them all Tuesday.

February is a busy month work wise but outs not like work has been quiet for me yet this year, so I'm feeling good about February I think. Feels like some of our players haven't been super active, but I may be mistaken since I've been in and out a lot.

I'm excited to start at my new workplace tommorow. Wich is nice, but also means i can't stay up as long as before ^^; Wich means I'll likely be fully available from 05:00pm (GMT) or 09:00am (PST) to 12:00am ~ 01:00am (GMT) or 04:00pm ~ 05:00pm (PST).

Maybe i can cram some post in work breaks but i wouldn't guarantee that xD
