Planet's Fall Premise

The Inner Sphere, a name given to hundreds of planets settled by humanity, has entered a surprising period of peace and discovery. It has been over a decade since the last great war and the great Houses have found a precarious balance. On the coreward of known space that is about to change. The Free Rasalhague Republic planet of Csesztreg III, known for its valuable mineral wealth, will soon be dragged into conflict. An invasion is coming from elements of the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth at the behest of the new Duchess of Tamar, a powerful and influential region of Lyran space. The former duke's last wishes of retaking former planets, lost centuries ago, were well known yet out of reach. Circumstances have changed and his daughter the new duchess, Morasha Kelswa, has taken her chance to put to the test the might of the Tamar Pact. A single strategic strike to reclaim their rightful territory. If successful, a precedent will be set that could not be ignored by the rest of the Federated Commonwealth. In time all the family's former worlds could be retaken. That makes this planetary invasion a vitally important matter for both sides, more so than would be the case simply for the fate of the world. When the invasion begins-

When the invasion begins all you care about is three things. Staying alive comes first, salvage and getting paid comes second, and last but not least is the future prospects such a contract inevitably offers. The rest matters little to you or anyone else in the Obsidian Angels. Whether the conflict is just or not is politics. You are a mercenary. A fat stack of C-Bills buys your favour. This favour takes the form of more than a battalion of war machines and the dangerous men and women who either pilot them into combat or keep them running. In truth, this sort of favour is the truest power in the Inner Sphere. Since the times of the Star League it is hard to argue that might does not make right. If only might alone could buy all the things you need. Luckily, this contract will be an excellent next step. Soon it will be 3050 and you're expecting a juicy big bonus for your support.

Join the Obsidian Angels mercenary company as they support a full blown planetary invasion. Fight and push back the defending continental militia. Take what they lose or abandon for yourselves. Keep them pinned down and unable to support the professional armies of Royal Rasalhague Army on the planet's main continent. Take part in a planet's fall.

Planet's Fall will be a play by post (PbP) forum game running for approximately 8 weeks with pregame commencing Monday 27th December. The game is expected to end in mid to late February. Combat roles and non-combat roles are available. Combat roles are for Mechwarriors, pilots of the striding mechs that dominate warfare in the 31st Century, where you will each be in command of a lance - 4 mechs and their pilots working together to achieve mission objectives. Non-combat roles can be from anything that a large mercenary organisation might need, from mechtechs, logistics and strategic staff, communications and electronics experts, doctors and administrators. These roles allow for a more casual entry into the Battletech universe. The game will primarily be running off Legend of the Five Rings 4th Edition rules, albeit with changes to fit the science fiction future of Battletech, with combats run in Megamek and only needing player input each turn to decide the actions of their character and allied units. A big thank you to GM Comstar/Fyeya for putting this rules conversion together. Whether you are experienced or new to the setting or rules, you are welcome to join. Questions are always welcome. The game will follow a 2/2/3 ratio per week of real life days to in character days, with combats on the third day.
