Butcher in the Kitchen (Pregame 1 EE, Kitchen)

[John Slaktare]

"Ten years. But I'm not good with all the history stuff, so prolly not best for a lesson on that. Good indicator that boom, smash and kill is my main skill I guess."

"I'm... physical. Analog. Tactile. I get lost in the tech stuff. Not that I disagree with it. I just... if it don't work for some reason I'm lost. Most of the time you can find me in the gym or helping out with some labor outside of pilot duties."

[Alison Rodríguez]

"Ten years? Over half my life then" Alison laughed "and sure, you do look like the physical type. Even in an apron and rubber gloves. I reckon I could program a robot to do all this but does anyone trust the expert? Nah, course not" she rolled her eyes "if you want to learn more about computers I'm sure I could give you a crash course. You know, just with someone elses machine. Got some high tech stuff that needs to be in top shape to do my job ya know."

[John Slaktare]

"I definitely trust the expert, cause I ain't gonna do that stuff myself. But I think leaving simple labor like this available probably has more to do with not paying upfront costs for machines and leaving stuff available for enforcing discipline when needed," he says while he keeps working.

"Not sure if learning about computers would do much for me. I got experts like you around anyway. Probably do better teaching me to sing. I'd get more use out of that. I don't even got a vidphone after all. And only use the computers in the office."

[Alison Rodríguez]

"Oh? You know, I am a professional singer, so if you want to learn to sing I could likely do that" Alison said with a grin "not sure it would offer benefits for future engagements, but perhaps a singing fighter might provide a distraction in the field to give you the edge?"

[John Slaktare]

"I suspect it wouldn't be too useful in combat, but some post victory celebration, singing over the enemy scrap to taunt them could be fun," he says, shrugging slightly at that.

"So you ain't been around here very long then. You making friends and getting comfortable?"

[Alison Rodríguez]

"Well, offers open either way! Singing over enemy scrap to taunt them or just singing for enjoyment" she shrugged "and yeah, it's going ok. Plenty of people poking me for being a celebrity. Getting called an airhead because singers can't be smart as well as musically talented. Don't bother me because I put 'em in their place every time, but they don't get bored of it quickly."

[John Slaktare]

"I imagine more of a technical putting em in their place? I tend toward a more violent method," he admits.

"Nothing better than reminding a person that you got more than one set of skills. And one of em is ass beatings. Very satisfying."

He continues the scrubbing.

[Alison Rodríguez]

"I'm not a punch or kick kinda girl. Nor guns really. I can hook up a mean explosion though if they really piss me off, but that'll cause me a few issues here as well" Alison grinned "and remind me not to pick a fight with you big guy. I like living."

[John Slaktare]

"Need to worry more about getting pinned with me. Easier to pound on someone when you got them held down. Wrestling first, then boxing. And its nice to know we got more demo fans on board. I enjoy a good boom."

[Alison Rodríguez]

"I would prefer to not be pinned either" Alison said with a frown "I'll just stick to computers and blowing things up. Not that I need to worry about blowing you up amigo, we're on the same side right?"

She finished off her coffee, then looked at it.

"Uh...I'll be right back. I think I forgot to lock everything down in the pantry." She hopped off the side, and made her way back to the pantry where she indeed forgot to put everything away.

"Que tonto soy" she said to herself as she went about working out where to put things again.

[John Slaktare]

"Sure are," he says. "Not that I haven't and others don't get in fights. But it's certainly not the regular. A scrap does happen time to time though."

He finishes scrubbing his last dish and places it in the machine. A few button pushes later it got busy sterilizing. Butcher leaned against the counter while waiting apparently taking a little break.

"How's the music life compare with the merc life?" he asks. His expression said he wasn't moving to help unless she asked for help. And he didn't mind if she did ask.

[Alison Rodríguez]

Alison looked around, eventually working out where to put things as John speak through.

"Not all that different. In both lives you go to different places to make a difference. Both are quite loud, and require a lot of setup. I guess war zones have slightly more deaths although the injury count isn't that different" Alison chuckled to herself at the mosh pit memories "merc life is less lonely though. What about yourself? How was your life before the Angels?"

[John Slaktare]

"Before merc work I was fighting in the arenas on Solaris. Before that I was working on the family dairy farm. Not a whole lot of difference between merc and gladiator stuff from the perspective of a pilot. Get told to fight someone and you fight them. Dairy farming was less exciting though with less LRMs and engine crits."

There's no humor or smile in his voice, but he is a bit easier and less focused without dishes to actively scrub.

[Alison Rodríguez]

"I would hope the amount of LRMs on a farm would be extremely low. I don't think you get much milk from an exploded animal."

Finally putting everything away in what she was certain looked correct, she made her way back in.

"Do you miss the simple life at all?"

[John Slaktare]

"Wasn't so simple as folks think. And I wasn't great at it, had my..." grandma

He freezes for a moment, like he just got smacked upside the head by a bat. And then he starts back in again like nothing happened.

"...other farmhands to help with stuff I didn't understand. It's why I do all these extra chores and work details. I'm used to this manual labor shit and it keeps me occupied. So I don't so much miss it because no matter where I am I can always work a crap detail to remind me of the past."

[Alison Rodríguez]

Alison looked at the man for a few moments before smiling.

"I admire that. Good, keeping that part of your old life with you. I can't do that, and I do miss the old life sometimes but I'll be back on a stage again making people jump at each other to the sound of my voice, I know that."

She looked over at the washing.

"All done?"

[John Slaktare]

"Ain't been in a mosh for a while," he says. "Maybe someday soon."

Shaking his head at the question. "Nah, gotta make sure all the stuff gets locked down before we go zero-g. I've got time, but means I'm hear until it's done."

[Alison Rodríguez]

"We win all this maybe the boss will let me put on a show" Alison said with a grin "good reward for all the hard work!"

She nodded.

"I was thinkin' of hitting the parties up again but if you want some company I can stick around."

[John Slaktare]

"Go have fun. I'm in here because I don't know how to and don't want to ruin other people's nights. Don't let me ruin yours by having you hang with me," he says, apparently dead serious.

[Alison Rodríguez]

"If you're sure big guy. Hit me up sometime for those singing lessons. Don't work too hard, alright? Gonna need ya for the fighting."

She popped her cup down, then taking her glasses out of her pocket and putting them on.
