Fancy dress & count down (Pregame 1 EN Storage)

Little Hrafnhildur from the Periphery floated gently to the wall and let her head stop her as the count ticked down. This year she'd do many more things, she'd be more. Probably.

She looked around at the celebration, the merry making and the kissing. Right, the kissing. Maybe she should have worn make up this time. With a shrug she reached down into a small bag hanging from her waist and brought out what looked like a cobbled together toy pig. She smiled at it then pulled the string on its back. First the pig's eyes light up and it shook, then nothing. Making a face, Hrafna gave the thing a quick swat and it started shaking again. Suddenly it popped into a cloud of confetti and streamers.

"Gleðilegt nýtt ár." She spoke from a cloud of confetti and streamers which almost completely shrouded the small engineer. Then thinking most likely no one would understand that, she switched languages. "Happy new year."

The pig's face had a smile painted on it to which Hrafna nodded. "Great things, Mr. Pig."

[Yoko Lee]

Yoko let herself smile to Tessa at the reaction, a soft attempt at being reassuring, after the countdown finished, speaking gently over the music, "Hai, certainly memorable. I won't complain in the least, and will certainly remember this party for years to come I suspect."

Then there was THIS guy. She'd seen him around, though didn't remember a name. He certainly seemed to know Miss Wentworth though. Looking to Klaus then back at Tessa, Yoko arched an eyebrow up a little before looking at Klaus once more, "I was kind of hoping to have dance with her myself actually, Lieutenant."

Perfection

A completely deadpan voice
"Hrafnhildur, I am going to crash into you."
And indeed, Yori was slowly...very slowly tumbling in the mechtechs direction through all the balloons and streamers. The fact she continued to make direct eye contact as she rotated head over heels was even weirder.

"I estimate time of contact in 24...23...22..21..20 seconds from now."

From within the cloud of streamers and confetti Hrafna's head turned in Yori's direction. "I suppose you don't have to crash into me given how much time you just estimated. Buuut in the spirit of the new year I'll float right here and wait for our colli...colliz...our banging into each other."

And with that Hrafna joined in the countdown, more to see if Yori had indeed guessed the right amount of time given the distance between the two.

Yori collides with Hrafn with a soft 'thunk' and calmly reaches up to brace herself against the ship with one arm.
"I apologise, I impacted 3 balloons which slowed my trajectory, I hope I did not cause you or your pig alarm by colli-...by banging into you."

The Mechtech braced herself for the collision which turned out to be just a slight thud. Still it pushed Hrafna and her pig against the wall she had been floating close to. "Dang balloons, they got a time suckin' agenda I bet. Two seconds off though, not bad. Not bad. Seems like there were many things to change that time estimate besides balloons, what with the merry making at such. No alarm either, you gave me plenty of warnin'."

She looked down at the toy pig she had made and held it up to Yori. "You can have it, if you like. I made it. I had confetti and stuff in the back here but I can put more and you can make something all festive with the pull of a string. Your next mission briefing? Now it's a party! Telling someone some bad news? Well it won't sting as hard. A gift for the new year."

"I appreciate that you would gift me something you made by hand. I would like to reciprocate, but I rarely make things. Would you like my samurai helmet? I can also provide the attached dossier."

Looking Hrafna up and down
"Unlike most here you made it clear what you came dressed as. Allow me to express I like your llama costume."

Yori looks down blankly and delicately takes the pig, holding it up as the light glints across her glasses.
"I have not owned a pig before, thank you. I imagine it is also useful at funerals."
She bows her head respectfully
"I appreciate that you would gift me something you made by hand. I would like to reciprocate, but I rarely make things. Would you like my samurai helmet? I can also provide the attached dossier."

Hrafna beamed when Yori actually accepted the pig. Truth be told she expected the other woman to lecture her on the history of the word pig and every cut of meat they provide, but this was nice. Though, a history lesson wasn't so bad.

"You don't have to give anything back. Besides you need that helmet to complete the set. No no, keep it. I'm just happy you like that pig I made. I have others I made as well, a regular ol'barnyard. Maybe those lancemates of yours would like to have an animal each?" At this point her hair was full of streams and confetti. It was a good thing she had decided against including glitter in the payload.

"The Llamas. I lead cheer for this team called the Llamas. Well, I would if they were real. I think it would be neat if they were real. Maybe a frisbee team. I like your robot costume, very neat. I think next time I can add some lights if you really want to get that robot look."

A hand started reaching for all the party material in Hrafna's hair until Yori visibly forced it down, and sent them both behind her back.
Very slightly pained "You have something in your hair. It looks nice but there are 3 golden streamers on your left side, and 5 on your right."
Clearly that was somehow problematic.

As for the llamas
"They do not have to be real for you to cheer for them. Although presumably they would win more games if they were. May I ask why you support a fictional team? Is it ironic? I have trouble grasping irony."

[Richard Winter]

Richard was surprised, but not averse.

"Happy New Year Mei, here's to the future" he raised a sippy cup with wine he had found somewhere.

Then Mei kissed the pilot, who appeared to be named Usov, and Richard was confused.

He looked at Usov then at Mei, then at the glass in his hand, then back at Usov.

What the hell was in that wine? No matter, he drained the glass in a few big gulps.

He shrugged his shoulders and waited for Mei's answer.

"I see... you know a good mechwarior knows when they had had enough booze." Alex shook the head and smiled. "Have you eaten?" Then the Penguin took Cat's hand pushing them from the wall to the near server. "Let's get something to eat and then dance to see if you can sweat it off." The warrior chuckled.

"Uuuh ... no?" Is Catherine's response in regard to her intake of actual food this evening. "Just had this." She holds up her by now nearly empty bottle. That leaves her with one hand free and she surrenders it to Alex with alcohol flushed cheeks. "Food and dance sounds great, Alex." The small redhead agreeably follows her friend's lead with a tipsy smile.

Alex frowned at the lack of snacks and sighed. The older warrior looked at Cat and pulled her into a hug. The start of a slow dance then the Aund Lang Syne. Alex looked at Catherine and smiled. They were upside down slow dancing on new years. "Happy New Year, Cat" Alex said with a sweet voice. A kiss was placed on the cheek, as Alex sees Cat as a sister and would not take advantage of her in this state.

[Klaus von Zinzer]

Klaus looks between the two. "If I am interrupting... " He looks to Tessa to see if she offers a polite dismissal in the aftermath of the countdown

[Tessa Wentworth]

Tessa had a long sip of wine. What had she got herself into? Mind-bogglingly, one of the mechwarriors had just kissed another and then Usov. She'd seen that too. Crazy!

"Erm, I can dance with Yoko first and then you Klaus? I mean, we've got time. Happy new year!" She offers, trying to spruce up the air.

Yori looks down at the samurai dossier she had started to extract and then slowly slides it back into her pocket
"Thank you, I like it as well. Lights would be an addition I had not considered. I will spend some time thinking on your offer."

"Aha! I have just the lights you know. Blue ones and red ones and green ones and...wait. Not all together then you'd look like one of those Christmas trees. Let's keep it to one color. I hear the color red makes things go faster, maybe we stick to red. Then a couple of speed holes in arms and that robot helmet and you'll be all over the place."

Her hand went back to her hair as Yori's almost reached out. She gave said hair a quick shake to dislodge the offending asymmetrical streamers. She didn't want to blue screen after all. "The team came.with the costume. I think maybe there is a team called the Llamas somewhere out there. I think I'd like to see them play once. Oh! Maybe I could get in for free if I wear this."

Sigh

"Wow you are a bold one aren't you? We've known each other for what, 3 minutes and you're already trying to turn me into a Capellan Finger-Trap? I mean I know I'm playful but not 'get piped by my closest friend and a rando at the same time' level of friendly.

BUT, because I admire your lewdness, I'm not going to punish you too harshly, take me on that flight then we can talk about other stimulating experiences. In the meantime I'm gonna go get another drink and totally tell Gi about this. Cya Richard."

With a little wink at her comrade she floated off towards the wine.

"Erm, I can dance with Yoko first and then you Klaus? I mean, we've got time. Happy new year!" She offers, trying to spruce up the air.

The count had come and gone. The moment had passed.

"I'd like that. I'll leave you to it then" Klaus does his best to force a smile and then heads to the bar for another bracing drink.

[GM Yuusha]

"Hey, it's going to be a long, boring trip." Usov protests, holding his hands up in front of himself. "Nothing wrong with some skinship." He calls after her before turning to Richard and shrugging. "At least we each got a new year's kiss, am I right?"

He gives the Lieutenant a thumbs up in advance of floating off toward a woman having a drink on her own.

Richard got himself another drink and decided to not think to much about whatever the fuck just happend there.

Alex frowned at the lack of snacks and sighed. The older warrior looked at Cat and pulled her into a hug. The start of a slow dance then the Aund Lang Syne. Alex looked at Catherine and smiled. They were upside down slow dancing on new years. "Happy New Year, Cat" Alex said with a sweet voice. A kiss was placed on the cheek, as Alex sees Cat as a sister and would not take advantage of her in this state.

"Boo.." Is Catherine's comment about the lack of food. She is feeling a little hungry after all this sweet liquor after all. Fortunately the party is too much fun for her to care and now she has a great partner to dance with. Not that she has much experience with dancing in mid-air, but giving Alex a bright grin, Catherine follows her friend's lead. The evening has finally caught up with the energetic redhead and a slow dance is just the right thing.

Gazing at Alex with a warm smile, Catherine returns the sentiment. "Happy New Year, Alex." Flushed from alcohol, the shared warmth and New Year's excitement, she leans in to place a tender kiss on her lovely friend's cheek too.

Alex smiled as they continued dancing slowly, Alex spinned the younger mech warrior hoping that she won't get too nauseous by the spin. It was a good distraction for the sargeant. maybe tonight will be a good night...
