Our GM has nicely asked us to establish some connections with other characters.
Alex has been with the Obsidian Angels for 5 years if you want to get a connection with Alex let me know.

Hi! Hrafna has been around almost as long. I'm sure hijinks must have ensued with Alex so I am more than down for a connection.

Also I'm sure Hrafna made some other good connections during her time in the company, she's rather friendly after all.

[Klaus von Zinzer]

Klaus has only been around for a few years, which makes his rise to Senior 1st Lieutenant rather meteoric. That might cause a few hard feelings. I addition, he tends to be a bit aloof and formal (though polite enough) until people get to know him, which is just starting.

Gianna and he are gambling buddies, and he relies on her to see if it is a rigged game.

Mei really tries to get strategy, and even if she's not a great strategic mind (yet) Klaus thinks she shows some promise as a tactician and has been writing up sims for her.

[Richard Winter]

Richard was a Starlight Knight and so has only recently joined the Angels, but he is good at listening to others and has a large collection of comics that he lends out to interested people ( although special editions are only available on a very conditional basis) He also has a talent for making figures out of wood (or other) materials and so you can relate to him that way.

Tanaki has been around for about 5 years and is totally open to connections!

[Gianna Rains]

Ooh, I like the idea of saying a bit about connections here, because in a relatively small business like this - especially when we get stuck in cramped spaceships for a while together - people will have an idea of others' connections. This is cool!

Gianna isn't a bubbly or socially aggressive type, but she's friendly enough to greet everyone and engage in as much conversation as the other person supports. For our grumpier or more standoffish characters, you probably find Gianna a little annoying, but it'd be very unlikely that she really bothers you. For those who are themselves very sociable characters, you will have had no trouble getting Gianna to tag along for activities - especially clothes shopping if you share that vice.

Additional hooks for connections:
Spare is sort of brooding, unlike the girls in the lance, so when he's around it's a bit like being watched by a silent guard dog. He likes quiet and reads a lot, so you may have encountered him perched somewhere alone with a book - or perhaps pretending to read while trying to sneak glances at someone he's interested in?
Lights Out is the den mom/alpha of the lance, accepting no crap from anyone, always making sure her people are ok - except when she's caught up in her own fun, which she maybe knows is the reason that Gianna's in charge and not her?
Princess is called that pejoratively by basically everyone, as she's a fairly stereotypical spoiled rich girl - except she's now broke and knows her literal survival depends on big sister Gianna and the twins. She's trying to learn fast and not be a burden to anyone, but it's not uncommon to hear a loud "Giannaaaaa!" that signals Princess has gotten overwhelmed by someone or something and needs a rescue before she makes a bad choice.

Remember to PM each other and agree your connections together. Are your two characters friends? Rivals? War buddies?

Posting options and information here is helpful, but do agree stuff with people. Trying to improvise can work, but it can also be problematic if the other person doesn't agree to your IC statement/suggestion.

Awkward. Possibly requires me to step in to retcon.

Avoid this by agreeing stuff with people OOC first or by getting their thumbs up to make up some stuff.

[Aleksandr Korolov]

Alek was a member of the Azure Fangs for a few years and he's been around the OA since the beginning.

He's personable and friendly but can be loud and obnoxious, especially when drinking. He's like to get along with basically anyone who is open to it. Obviously other Mechwarriors will be familiar with him and him them. He's a skilled pilot, a little reckless and takes some risks others might deem unnecessary.

Plenty of time in the gym so other athletic or health conscious PCs might have run into him there.

Also while he isn't the smartest or most knowledgeable he is very interested in how mechs work and has spent some free time in the bays watching the techs work.

Also about 15ish years ago he spent some time on Solaris in the Mech arena.

[John Slaktare]

It's probably reasonable to assume that you have had disagreements with Butcher and that such disagreements have come to blows if you are a fighting type. He's got a short fuse. I imagine most folks avoid pissing him off, though not because he's more dangerous than others. More because it's just less annoying to ignore him most of the time. PM me if you think we have punched each other over silly crap.

But he's also just as likely to enjoy a but of exercise and cardio stress relief with boxing, running and climbing. Let me know if you are interested in a mostly quiet but sometimes dour workout partner.

He likes... Nothing. No real hobbies or fun time. Spends free time doing more work, either because he's being disciplined or because he doesn't have anything better to do.

Been around for two tears. Probably worked near everyone in that time with the amount of extra labor he does. Doesn't complain much, but is totally unhappy most of the time. Nor smart or clever, very physical/kinetic, excellent reflexes. Let ne know what stuff we might be working on together.

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

Mei has only been with the OA for a few weeks at the start of pregame so she may not have made a connection with you yet but she wants to.

She's warm and friendly, a bit flirty at times and generally nice to everyone. The only thing that seems to get her down is new leg which she is still struggling to adapt to, having only had it about as long as she's been with the OA.

If she likes you she will try to cook for you and if she really likes you she may knit you something.

If you want a drinking or shopping partner, someone to watch sports with or a simulator partner give Mei a call.

[Catherine Maia Hayes]

Catherine is a founding member of the Angels, although she was only 8 years old at the time.

I would like to establish connections, especially with those who have been with the company for 2+ years and seen her drastic personality change in that timeframe, caused by the sudden loss of her father.
(She went from excitable tomboy, to morose crybaby.)

Catherine has a really close connection to Captain Kaala, who gave Cat a few months of locking herself up in her room, before dragging the orphaned Mechwarrior in the making out and back into life. After a quick assessment deemed Cat as "not suicidal", she got a mech, effectively inheriting the replacement for her dad's destroyed Battlemech and eased into fighting at Kelenfold, about 6 months ago.
She has started to come back alive since then.

So far only Gianna has approached me for a possible connection, but I would like to establish a connection with other Angels too.
I will try to make approaches as well. ^-^

Oh, 5 years! Then Alex would have known Catherine from age 13 to her current 18. Also her big friendly father and how she lost him. A good Battlemech was lost too.
Catherine loves mechs and knows everything about them on a technical readout level. If Alex likes talking about mechs with a person who does not actually know who the parts actually work, but loves to know which mech has which loadout, strengths and weaknesses.
There is a good possible connection there. ^-^

Pretty much the same goes for Hrafna too.

Hopefully they are glad the old excitable Catherine may be coming back. Would they be willing to try and help that along?

Especially being in the same lance, and Gianna being too naturally talkative, she absolutely has! Not sure it's accomplished much, but Gianna likely thinks she's wearing the other woman down and will eventually... Accomplish something. No idea what that is, but she's gonna get there. Although maybe not right now, since Gianna is busy saving Princess from Yori. Or maybe it's the other way around?
