Day 4 & 5 (March 24th & March 25th)

Post by GM Yuusha » Tue Jan 18, 2022 8:22 am

Day 4
Sunday the 24th March, 3050. The temperature had dropped sharply overnight and in the morning there is ice everything. However, steadily throughout the day the temperature rises as the clouds fade away. The sun shines brightly all morning and afternoon. Come evening a great deal of snow has turned to mush and there are puddles atop patches of grass, desperately clinging to life. Green can be seen in the trees and there is a faint scent of spring in the air. Of more importance for the operation, reports come in early morning that the Militia are reacting to the presence of an unknown hostile force on their continental island. The seaside town of Pryvidok has been abandoned by its small garrison to shore up defences elsewhere, making it safer for the mercenaries to visit. How would the locals react to their presence? There would be chances to visit after the action the day before, especially with mechs undergoing reports. Still, there are things to do. Salvage operations begin fully in the afternoon after a fresh late morning meeting to choose their next target. The start time, 11am, allows those celebrating their victory the night before a chance to get adequate rest. Meanwhile, the Comms Relay Outpost, Szekeres, was captured in remarkably good condition on the outside, but much of the inside was damaged by infantry fighting. Some defenders stubbornly refused to quit, forcing demolition teams to force the matter. Thankfully, ammunition supplies in the hangars and vehicle storage were untouched. Nonetheless, smoke only stops drifting up from the site in the afternoon. The Akos Militia make no further attempt to scout or recapture their outpost. A few intercepted communications point to disagreement of what to do next and disorganisation on their part due to moving forces elsewhere. This raises further questions, but some of that is answered by the AFFC later in the day. Much to their displeasure, their own reconnaissance has identified a significant force of Akos Militia exiting the underwater tunnel onto the mainland; approximately two companies of heavier armoured vehicles headed by a lance of mechs. The force heads deeper into Somogy to reinforce key KungsArmé positions.

Mechanical changes:
Threat -0.5 -> -1.0. Threat has decreased after the successful attack on Szekeres.
Effect: In combat, turrets will not fire until turn 3. Enemy forces will react sluggishly, meaning some will not move on turn 1.

Impact 2.0 -> 2.2 Impact increased by 0.2 for taking Szekeres -> 1.2 Impact lowered by 1.0 due to Threat being -1.0
Effect: To represent this, all Technician and Administration (Logistics) rolls will increase in TN by 5. -> This penalty has already been applied to Day 4 and 5 Events.

Strength 3.1 -> 2.9 Strength decreased by 0.2 in the taking of Szekeres -> 3.0 Increased by 0.1 due to a Simulation combat being won this week.
Effect: Each session, a PC in a single combat may request a reinforcement for free. Others may request a reinforcement by expending a PC Token.

Notes:
• Pryvidok can be visited safely.
• All those who participated in successful combats have been awarded fame depending on their contribution. An additional 0.2 fame has been gained by all lance leads.

Day 5
It is March 25th 3050. Monday. The local Militia continue to be inactive, although there is more radio traffic than days prior. After their irritation yesterday, the AFFC instruct their Liaison Officer to query the particulars of salvage findings and minor aspects of the contract. They wish to know the Angels are acting in good faith. Tessa organises a response, seeing this as an ideal opportunity to gently highlight some aspects of the contract that are unclear along with some intelligence that wasn't available before it was signed, complicating matters. This leads to a meeting in the early afternoon that starts tensely, but offers the Angels a chance to negotiate slightly more favourable terms if they're up to the challenge. Better still, the informant returns with a truckload of fresh produce and fish brought from Pryvidok. Only a few hours later a few Angels, guided by aerospace assets to help them avoid enemy patrols, head to the seaside town to purchase supplies and to learn more about the town in the process. Weather wise the day is somewhat warm, with the sun out once again and more snow melting away. The snow persists only in the mountains and where there was a lot of snow to begin with, such as around the dropsite, but the mystery snowmen from days before melt away by the evening.

Rumours and Gossip

"Everyone fought hard out there."
"They sure did. Those hover tanks proved to be a real pain."
"Not as much as the pair of mechs guarding the place."
"I heard they went kaboom?"
"Absolutely. Hardly anything left."

----

"There was a lot of celebrating last night."
"Can you blame them?"
"I guess not."

----

"Did you see Klaus meeting with Kurt? What's that about?"
"I don't know. Maybe you should ask him."
