[PG1, EE Gianna’s Room] A critical eye (Closed)

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

A too loud thudding came to Gianna’s door, like someone was hitting it with a metal cart repeatedly and with it came a muffled voice.

“LT? LT, umm, it’s Mei-Ling? Are you busy, I could really use your help.”

[Gianna Rains]

Gianna, adjusting her Santa hat in the mirror, was impervious to any emotion besides fun tonight. She grinned and went to the door, the bob on the end of the hat swaying and her eyes bright.

As she opens the door, she says, "Mei, just call me Gi--uh, what's that?"

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

A bottle of wine dangled precariously under a mound of clothing, Mei invisible behind it.

"Please...slipping...grab the bottle." She said slowly shuffling towards the door.

"I can't decide what to wear and I'm starting..GRRR...to panic."

[Gianna Rains]

Gianna doesn't hesitate to first save the wine, grabbing it and rushing it to the top of her dresser before darting back to help catch some of the mound of clothing.

"Eep," she squeaks slightly as she grabs for a few things that seem most in danger of falling. She drapes them onto the bed as carefully as she can in a hurry.

"Um, Mei honey, what, uh..." She takes more from the other woman and tries to make it look vaguely organized on the bed. Once everything is laying somewhere, she turns to the other woman, smiling but eyebrow raised and one hand on her hip. "This, um. Ya got a lot of choices here, Mei."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

Mei huffed, relived to be relived of her burden.

"Thank you, god I really DO need to work on my strength." She shook her arms out and closed the door behind her. "I am so lost right now, I have never been to a zero-G party before and I have no idea what will look good AND cooperate with all the flipping and spinning. Do you know what you are going to wear? Will you help me choose something?" She said with pleading eyes.

[Gianna Rains]

"No Mei, this is my usual off-duty attire," Gianna says, pointing at herself in a sleeveless and form fitting red dress with a few fluffy white embellishments.

"But of course I can help!" Gianna says excitedly, there even seeming to be a small squeak of excitement at the possibility. "It, um," she starts to say, taking an appraising look at Mei. "Well, in zero G, you... You usually want something to... really fit." The girl's violet eyes meet Mei's, trying to sense how comfortable she is with the suggestion.

Mei appraised her host.

"WOW! You're really going for it huh? You got some mistletoe you're going to carry around with you too?" She said smirking. "So may of my dresses are flowy and my skirts are short, I want to have fun and look nice but not give anyone a free show you know?" She walked over and started sorting though the pile.

"Like, this is my usual go to little black dress but it's very loose." She said holding up the garment. "So...what are we libel to get into tonight? i had breakfast wit the Major and the way he said it was going to be an "adult" party hinted at things he wouldn't say."

[Gianna Rains]

Gianna grins a little during the inspection by Mei.

"I imagine the major just meant that staying up late, drinking and gambling in zero G isn't really a family environment," Gianna says honestly. "It'll be a lot of fun, and if people feel like they, ah, got their money's worth then I think that's fine. I don't get many chances to wear this dress and it's cute as hell, so I'm wearing it regardless of gravity rating." The blue-haired Canopian girl grins defiantly. The scarlet fabric hugs her hips and comes down far enough on her thighs that it wouldn't be risque in most settings. Zero G made things... at least a little more risque.

"And I agree about loose, if you're trying to not show off... Um..." Gianna's eyes flicker back and forth between the clothes and the other mechwarrior. Realizing this is a little chaotic, she stops to take a deep breath. "Ok, so, what else do you like to wear?"

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

Mei tossed the dress to the side, it was too common for tonight.

"Well, lots of things, look for yourself. I prefer things with bare backs, I like chokers and necklaces but I left those in my room, I will do accessories when I figure this all out. The problem is that most of my stuff isn't very hugging."

She dug though the clothes for a moment.

"Like this, or this ,or...OH GOD how did that get in here I defiantly can't wear that I'll get arrested in space." She tossed a weird sweater to the floor with a look of embarrassment.

"Tell me what you think of this." She pulled her shirt and shorts off and started to wriggle into something. "I should get something festive like you have for next year though I don't think THAT would look as good on me." She nodded towards Gianna.

[Gianna Rains]

Gianna's eyes definitely aren't jumping around when she sees what Mei is wearing now.

"Ah... You're... You're sure you're not trying to show off for somebody?" The Canopian asks, incredulous. "I mean... Regardless of gravity, people..." Gianna's head bobs from side to side. "People are going to notice that." Good heavens, she thinks. This one... I didn't realize she's so...

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Well of course I am trying to show off but not for anyone in particular." She shrugged her way out of the clothes and reached for another.

"It's my first party with OA, it's a New Years party and between you and me I have NEVER had a New years kiss. I am going to start this new year off different so whoever ends up next to me at midnight better be ready for it." She said only slightly in a huff. "OK, this one seems to work better with the contacts so let me put them in. I think this is my front runner right now."

[Gianna Rains]

Gianna blinks several times, reaching to adjust her glasses before realizing she's not wearing them.

"I think that's... Yeah, that's a pretty good choice. I mean, Alex's lance, uh... Those boys like their formal wear. Might, ah, catch some eyes from them..." She blinks again and takes a deep breath.

What is happening? I didn't... Apparently we're really good friends now?

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

Mei pealed herself out of the dress and stood there for a moment weighting her options.

"I had breakfast with Alex, such a cutie but so shy. I definitely want to help them out of their shell. The young one's here seem to be a little on the skittish side."

She grabbed a long blue strapless gown and pulled it on.

"This is probably a bad choice right? But it hides my leg. I need more to buy a lot of new stockings, all of mine are sheer and look stupid on this thing." She banged on her leg to make the point.

[Gianna Rains]

The banging snaps Gianna out of a bit of a daydreamy-looking state.

"Er, right. Leg. Sure," she says, recovering inelegantly. "Yeah, the gown..." Gianna twitches her head slightly like she's chasing something away. "It's a lot to manage in zero G. Some, um... Some girls try to show off, like they're so awesome and can manage it, but it's usually... Kind of just a floating fluff ball."

Gianna goes to sit on the edge of the bed, careful not to be on top of any clothes, and pulls her Santa hat off while she runs fingers through her hair. This isn't weird. She's just more relaxed than you. That's perfectly reasonable. And it's New Years. Maybe she already had some wine to relax, like you should. Gianna glances about, trying to remember where she'd put the wine bottle.

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"So since you mentioned impressing people, is there someone in particular you're showing off for or were you expecting me to come here?" She pulled herself out of the long dress and reached for a top and some jean shorts before undoing her bra.

" I usually dye my hair when I wear this, this is my "On the prowl" outfit so it's more casual but I won't have to worry about it going anywhere."

[Gianna Rains]

Looking up at exactly the right or wrong time, depending on one's perspective, Gianna freezes, Santa hat in hand and mouth slightly open.

"Oh," she says, not having prepared at all for the second half of that question. "Uhhh..." As her eyes fly around the room, they catch on a small photo of Gianna and Princess, which blissfully triggers an out from the question.

"Oh, uh, Mei," she says hurriedly. "I, um... Princess. And Cat. Gotta... Gotta make sure they're ready too." She suddenly looks very serious, although her eyes still linger on this prowling outfit.

"I, um... You don't mind if I call Cat, right? To, um, check on her? I mean, she might need me." Dutiful big sister energy couldn't have kicked in at a better time in Gianna's estimation.

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Oh god I'm so sorry, I just kind of took over your room. Umm, yeah let me clean this up and I will get out of your hair so you can have your room back. I'm so sorry."

She stopped midway though changing and started to put her last outfit back on.

Is she blushing?

[Gianna Rains]

"No no no, it's fine, and this is all... This might be helpful? Maybe? Just... It's good," Gianna tries to soothe while still quite flustered herself.

"I'm just... I'm going to call Cat, and then we'll figure it out. No need go. Just, um, relax a minute, yeah?"

The Canopian girl takes longer to find her phone than should be needed, and realizes words aren't her strong suit right now, but finally taps out a message to Cat resembling a confused distress signal. She hopes that Party. Get ready. My room. Now. will be clear enough to at least summon the young redhead, even if she won't know what she's getting into. Do I know what she's getting into?

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Oh OK." Mei said sliding her pile of clothes over to the side and sitting down on Gianna's bed. "Is your bed bigger than mine? Wow I really need to work on getting promoted." She laid back across the bed and looked up at the ceiling. "So uh...what's the scene like here? There a lot of fraternizing going on? My last boat was pretty boring."

[Catherine Maia Hayes]

That message sounded quite urgent. Scratch that, it sounded *very* urgent. What sort of problem could there be, but Catherine decides to rush. Even though she is in the middle of her own preparation and quite stuck on what she is trying to do herself.

Wait! Maybe they can figure it out together!

Quickly cramming all of her unfinished preparation stuff into a small carry bag, the small redhead rushes out of her room and through the halls of the ship, dodging and weaving through any obstacles. While almost never seen within the last year, it was an all too frequent occurrence before that. Only the excited laughter of olden times remains missing still.

I won't take her long to arrive.
