They need paper copy (Pregame 1 EA Offices)

With a flick of the switch the old photocopier lit up and whirred into life. It began its diagnostic. Somewhat loud, robotic noises sounded. There was almost a rhythm to it. The machine was checking the print levels and the printer heads. Moving the nozzles. Ensuring there was paper.

Only, there wasn't.

Crouching down made it easier to reach for the bottom tray handle and tug the thing open. The new pack of A4 was hefted over and torn open. In the paper went and immediately back the tray was shunted. It clicked into position and more noises followed.

The woman stood up and fiddled with her lanyard. Now to wait another twenty three or so seconds until she could log into the damn thing and authorise her print jobs.

[Klaus von Zinzer]

"Have we gone past the "We turned it off and on again? " stage" Klaus asks, his tone mild. "Or do I have to unleash Foraker on it. Don't worry, that falls under sundry duties."

Klaus does his best to offer a smile. "But seriously, may I be of help Chief Administrator?"

[Tessa Wentworth]

Even the mild voice was enough to give her a little jump as she'd been focusing on the final few seconds until the printer beeped ready. "Oh, er, senior lieutenant. You startled me." She spun around. "No need for Foraker." She smiled back, her surprise passed. "I'm just about to print some of the paperwork the jumpship wants from us. Nothing too important."

[Klaus von Zinzer]

"Nothing important?" Klaus smiles playfully. "I once had a commander who had a speech about how every scrap of paperwork was a critical battle, that we would sweat and bleed ink because correctly assembled documents showed a ready mind for battle. Well, the man knew his logistics...but of course everywhere else he didn't know his ass from his elbow, and was an enormous one to boot"

Klaus' eyes twinkle. "So, I can appreciate someone more capable with a far sunnier disposition"

[Tessa Wentworth]

The blonde's smile blossomed a little more. "Compliments aren't going to earn you any favours. I hope you know yours." She teased him a little, meaning his ass from his elbow. Then she held up a finger. "And I'll rephrase. No money is directly involved."

It was thus not too important. Unlike a purchase order.

[Klaus von Zinzer]

"Well it's a good thing that I am offering the compliments of my own accord, completely independent of the favor I mean to ask." Klaus volleys back. He holds up a hand to forestall argument

"I don't intend to hand off extra work and walk away. I want to brush up on our inventory before we arrive I assume you also received the contract details...and know the saying about tactics, strategy and logistics. And I would hate to disrupt your system"

[John Slaktare]

John made his way into the offices with a pair of boxes filled with a set of boxes that contain technical manuals for mech maintenance, training documents for new technicians. They smelled strongly of grease.

He sets the boxes next to a desk. The outside of the box had markings indicating the documents were for a Hatchetman, which made it obvious why Butcher was personally concerned.

[Tessa Wentworth]

Tessa's witty response turns into a mumble as Klaus holds up a hand.

"We'll be doing an inventory as standard during transit, but... is there something you want to look out for?" To Tessa it sounded like Klaus was concerned about something. He would have known about the standard inventory check.

Her focus was diverted by John's appearance. "Hey." She held up a hand to grab his attention. "What are they and who are they for?" She offered Klaus an apologetic smile before heading over to the mechwarrior. Her photocopying would have to wait.

The infernal copier had better not go on standby if it didn't want to be vented into space.

[John Slaktare]

"Technical manuals for Hatchetman maintenance and operation. Some jackass got grease all over them and half of it's useless now. Can use digital copies, but we need new backup hard copies," he explained. "They said the office would need the document codes to replace them."

Which he apparently assumed meant he had to carry the whole thing up to the office. Rather than just writing down the information needed. Because of course he should put in unnecessary effort to carry a box that smells like grease into the administrative offices. He really was thickheaded sometimes.

[Tessa Wentworth]

"Yes, we will..." She moved to thumb over the documents to confirm their shape. "These will definitely need replacing." She sounded a little glum about it. It would mean more printing. At least it wouldn't be photocopying.

"Erm, next time, you can just let us know about what has happened and that you need something printed. I'll go find the digital versions. Hang around for a bit and you can take them back, ok?" She suggests, hoping he didn't have something better to do. The office was short-staffed today so she would have to carry them back to wherever herself otherwise.

[John Slaktare]

"Got nothing going on with the party prep. You would be doing me a favor if you could find me some busy work," he suggests. "Otherwise I'll be wandering around bored and useless."

[Klaus von Zinzer]

"Nothing is wrong." Klaus tries to offer a reassuring smile. "But I have a long few months to work out plans. If I am going to wrack my brain I want to make sure my figures are accurate. Not that I have any reason to doubt them" he hurriedly tacks on the end. "Your work is excellent Chief Administrator"

Klaus looks over the paper stacks. "I can sort if you need help. What system do you use?"

[Tessa Wentworth]

"Busy work huh? I have a few things you could help with..."

She turns back to Klaus with a grin. "That's fine. I understand. Don't worry about the papers, I've got them. Why don't you get a few volunteers to do a first inventory check? I've got one here. We have it scheduled for a few weeks into the new year so there is time to order anything we're missing, but this way we can be doubly sure. We can compare each inventory and also see if any supplies are being used faster than our estimates."

[John Slaktare]

Butcher nods to Klaus, clearly not upset with the idea of volunteering.

"Whatever you need." It was stated with the sincerity of someone that legitimately dislikes downtime.

[Klaus von Zinzer]

She turns back to Klaus with a grin. "That's fine. I understand. Don't worry about the papers, I've got them. Why don't you get a few volunteers to do a first inventory check? I've got one here. We have it scheduled for a few weeks into the new year so there is time to order anything we're missing, but this way we can be doubly sure. We can compare each inventory and also see if any supplies are being used faster than our estimates."

"Stop sweet talking me, I'll blush." Klaus offers a coy smile. " I will have quite a few volunteers to help, and I have no doubts that they enjoy your company as much as I do"

[John Slaktare]

Butcher sighs and sits at a desk, turns the chair away, and closes his eyes. "Let me know when the flirting is done so we can get to work."

[Tessa Wentworth]

She'd gone to reply to Klaus at the moment John spoke up. She shut her mouth immediately, her cheeks turning pink. She softly cleared her throat and looked away.

"Right. Erm, ok, so. I'll leave you both to figure things out. I had some work to do, so..."

She started to move back to the photocopier.

Klaus turns slowly, showing his eye patch first before offering a 'You're killing me Smalls' look.

"Perhaps we can go over the numbers later. I could use your expertise Chief Administrator. And my offer to unleash my tech on that machine still stands."

"Are you attending the party tonight?"

Klaus turns to John. "What can I grab for you?"

[John Slaktare]

"Nothing. Gonna help with inventory like the LT said," he replies with a shrug.

[Klaus von Zinzer]

"Ah. Good. Thank you for volunteering" Klaus looks at Tessa's back, curious if she will respond
