[PG1, EE Gianna’s Room] A critical eye (Closed)

[Catherine Maia Hayes]

"You don't like sporty looking wear so much, do you?" Asks the small redhead who very much does so and gives the dress in Gianna's hand another glance. "I do like the look. I know I won't fill it. Height, width and up there too. But If Goo can do magic and make it fit, I'd like to try it." She follows her friend's gaze to the 'project' resting on her bag. "Haah ... lift. They'd have to be magic too."

Looking back at the 1st Lieutenant, Cat gives a small shrug and asks, while eyeing the sporty red dress again. "Good sister activity? What's that mean?"

"Hm .. I hope Goo really can do magic with that dress .."

[Gianna Rains]

"Hm .. I hope Goo really can do magic with that dress .."

Gianna raises a hand to her forehead and turns to sit on the bed.

"I, um... Maybe I don't even know what I'm saying," she says with a sigh.

[Catherine Maia Hayes]

"Well, I sure don't." Catherine shoots Gianna a grin. "But that's normal for me. Half the time I have no idea what I am babbling about, when it isn't about mechs."

[Gianna Rains]

Gianna looks over at the other girl, then shakes her head and chuckles.

"I probably shouldn't be looking at you to help solve my problems," she says, sighing lightly. "I'm supposed to be the one making sure you're alright."

[Catherine Maia Hayes]

Catherine answers with a smiling shrug.

"Let she who can, solve the problem first. Or something like that. Let's make sure we are all alright and have fun today. Less sighing, more laughing. And no bashing your head against the wall, because you somehow fail at basic sewing!"

[Gianna Rains]

"Less sighing, more laughing," Gianna echoes, rubbing the bridge of her nose. "Yeeeah, I, uh... Haha. I should just laugh it off." She smiles and shakes her head. "Silly me. Thinking Mei was hitting on me... Haha, so silly, right?"

[Catherine Maia Hayes]

"Goo was hitting on you?" Catherine blinks and asks, followed be a playful cheer. "Go go Gianna!"

Shooting her friend a smile, the youngster tries to offer advice in an area she has no actual experience in. "Don't overthink stuff like that. Just go with your heart, Anna! If it works, great! If it ain't, you can still be friends. Take things as they come to you."

Two quick hops being the small redhead close enough to wrap her arms around Gianna's waist for a quick squeeze, trapping the red dress between them. "Good Luck! I mean it."

[Gianna Rains]

"Wait, that's... What?" Gianna is surprised, but welcomes the hug anyway. It is calming, especially in comparison to the swirl of thoughts in her head.

"I, um... I guess..." Her face shows just how uncertain she remains.

I'm a terrible big sister. She's making me feel like things are ok after I got scared.

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

Mei returned to the room in a change of outfit.

“Got the stuff, sorry I took so long. While I was digging though my stuff for the sewing kit I found one more outfit that I figured I should get an opinion on. I am like 99% sure I’m going to wear the second one i showed you Gi but I figured it was worth the ask.”

She did a little twirl and then sat down to start sewing.

“Did I miss anything?”

Gianna's remarkably unsurprised at this point that Mei didn't knock, but she is surprised about the outfit. And handles it really elegantly.

"You... Ummm...." The smile on Gianna's face is way brighter than it really should be, and her lack of words could be interpreted in several ways.

"I, um... You know..." Realizing she's floundering, she plays the one card that she knows will work.

"Cat is excited for you to make some magic with these clothes," she blurts out. She looks apologetically at the poor redhead and mouths I'm sorry.

Arms still around Gianna, when Mei enters, Catherine lets go of her friend and turns to give Mei-Ling a critical muster followed bright smile.

"Oh~! That looks pretty, Goo! That colour really suits you." She has no idea what dress the 'second one' actually is, but this one looks great. "I like it." She shoots a quick thumbs up.

The small redhead hops back over to plop herself onto the ground and watch Mei-Ling's sewing. "Be careful. Those patches are super tough. You need to be strong like a gorilla or something to push a needle through."

Mei shook out her hands then started working, her tongue sticking out a little as she concentrated on not stabbing herself.

"The problem was your needle, I brought a few extra you can have for your kit but it just wasn't pointy enough anymore." Her hands worked quick, she had clearly been doing this a long time. "You're gonna need a replacement for this one though unless you plan on wearing you costume regularly, the patches will be noticeable under other clothes. You have others right?"

Catherine watches Mei's efforts intently. She nods when the issue of blunt needles is explained and blushes when the state of her wardrobe is asked about.

"I still have enough left, but just about now. I do want to get new ones to be on the safe side. Fortunately I only lost some old ones with my failed attempts. I ran out though, so this is one of my good ones." The small Sergeants gestures at the sports bra in Mei's hands.

"Well, in a bind I could go without, but I'd rather not." She admits.

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"I fucking hate bras, that's part of why so many of those are open backed."

She gestured towards the pile of clothes.

"You can't wear a bra with them or it looks stupid. You should embrace the freedom whenever you can. Right Gi? Let them be free!"

She gave a little wink but it was hard to tell who it was directed at.

"Did you find anything in the pile you liked?"

That strongly voiced sentiment gives Catherine pause.

"Uh ... I don't mind them really. I just stick to comfy ones. I guess that is at least one benefit of being as small as I am." She offers with an embarrassed shrug. There is a good possibility that with maybe one or two exceptions, the small redhead owns nothing but sports bras.

Her attention turns towards Gianna at Mei's question.

When they're both looking at her again, Gianna knows she has to say something. With a nervous swallow, she goes with honesty.

"Freedom is fun, but so is getting a look just right. And everybody is shaped a little different, so it can take some doing to get the right fit, but when you do, um..." She looks embarrassed. "A-a-anyway, it's worth shopping for good stuff. Sports bras are great in mechs, but when I have the chance... People ought to appreciate what we're putting up with," she says, trying to hide behind some humor.

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Amen to that." Mei said as she finished putting the first patch on. She flipped the bra inside out and showed it to Cat. So see how I stitched it here all crisscrossed?

Tomorrow or whenever you can just cut here and you should be able to pull the string out and take the patches off with little fuss."

She started sewing on another patch.

"Just be careful taking the costume off, it will probably be easier to take it all off together and then separate them. I'd hate to see you rip the costume or the bra up unless you have a good reason to be undressing in a hurry." She said giving Cat a wink.

While Gianna's response is a bit confusing, Catherine just tries to go with the flow.

"I like them because they are comfortable and easy to put on in a hurry. Easier to find a good fit too." She explains. "I have what I have, so I'll have to be appreciated the way I am."

Mei's explanation makes her focus back on the sewing in progress. "Oh .. that is useful. I'll probably leave it on for as long as we travel under zero-G. The santa top is not the only one that's loose on me. Thank you for the help, Goo. I'll be careful dressing up then." The small redhead smiles back.

[Gianna Rains]

Gianna starts to scold Mei about "needing to undress quickly," but keeps her mouth shut when the youngest mechwarrior doesn't seem scandalized. Seems like she... kinda missed that entirely. Which is good. I think.

"Well this is great," Gianna says, hands coming together lightly in front of her. "We, uh, got everyone sorted for the party then?" There's a wide smile on her face, mostly covering a certain anxiety about where this may go with the time-sensitive matters resolved.

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Other than me getting all my crap out of your room I would say so. I don't even know how I managed to get clothes all over the place I don't do this in my own room. Sorry Gi."

She was almost finished with a second patch.

"How many of these am I putting on Cat? You probably want some on the front and back right?"
