[PG1, EE Gianna’s Room] A critical eye (Closed)

[Gianna Rains]

Message sent, Gianna turns back to see... The cute Capellan laying back on her bed. She closes her eyes for a minute. Merde.

"Yeah, it's, um. It's a nice bed," she admits, somewhat grudgingly. "And um, yeah, people... I mean, in between fights, and especially when you're just stuck in a giant metal box for weeks..." Gianna gestures around to encompass their current situation, then shrugs like "fraternizing" is about as necessary as oxygen. "You gotta watch the chain of command, though. Anybody directly in line under you is off limits. So nobody is hooking up with the major," she jokes half-heartedly.

"Wait so I'm limited to other Sergeants and Non-Coms?" Mei pouted a little and kicked her dangling feet on the side of the bed. "That's no fun but at least it isn't totally restricted. It's been way too long since I got drunk and made out with someone at a party. So what are you helping who with?"

Light and quick on her feet, Catherine dashes on the metal feet with a surprising lack of noise. Or not so surprising. This ship has been her playground for years after all.

Coming from outside, a squeaking sound muffled by thick metal can be heard, followed by the doorbell ringing.

Braking too fast, Cat could not avoid the brief squeal of her soles against the floor, when she arrives at the door of 1st Lieutenant Rains and hits the ringer at the same time. Urgent sounding message still on her mind, there is no time to check her appearance and Hellcat steps in front of the door, jittering on her feet with some windswept hair in her face.

"Wait so I'm limited to other Sergeants and Non-Coms?" Mei pouted a little and kicked her dangling feet on the side of the bed. "That's no fun but at least it isn't totally restricted. It's been way too long since I got drunk and made out with someone at a party. So what are you helping who with?"

Gianna bites her lip, simultaneously wanting to be helpful to the new girl and anxious about how it'll be interpreted. But, she can't let inaccurate information go uncorrected, so...

"Well... Officers in other companies don't, um... If you're not under their command, then technically..."

She's saved from explaining details for now by

Cat likely notices a bit more rosiness to Gianna's cheeks than usual, but then again over the bright red dress it may not be noticeable.

"Oh, Cat, hi!" the Canopian enthuses, taking the younger girl by the arm and pulling her in. Subconsciously she puts the redhead in front of her like a shield. "Do you know Mei? From Scout Company? We were just getting ready for the party, and I remembered I should make sure you're ready, and... Yes. You're here because you'd like help, right?"

Mei bounced up off the bed and walked over reaching out a hand.

"Mei-Ling Zhou, second Scout lance leader, pleasure to meet you. You can call me Mei or Mei-Ling or my callsign is Goo."

Catherine is faintly flushed red herself from rushing over as quickly as she did, but manages to snap off a quick salute. "Sergeant Hayes reporting for emergency problem solving?" Her playful report trails off into more of a question at the end. She has no idea what is really going on after all. "Hey Annie! Your message seemed really urgent, so what happened?"

And suddenly she is inside the room, facing the woman she knows mostly as Goo. "Ah .. hello Goo?" The small redhead offers a confused but friendly wave and shakes the offered hand. "Yep! Know her ... but not too much. Sorry. You joined us after Kelenfold."

She blinks awkwardly when Gianna asks if she is the one who wants help, after she had just rushed over to help out, but ... she actually does. "I thought I'd be helping you out, but ... uh ... yes. I could actually use some help." And then she immediately whines. "I didn't know sewing was that hard to do!"

"We're, uh, all helping each other here," Gianna says excitedly with an overdone smile. "So yes, sewing, gosh..." The blue-haired girl manages to slightly retreat while the focus shifts to Cat.

I'm so going to owe her for this, Gianna thinks, chewing her lip slightly. Oh gods... And I'll probably have to explain why I owe her big. Gianna sighs somewhat loudly. Merde.

While the still innocent Mechwarrior can be a bit oblivious, she can interpret that sound well enough and turns around to give Gianna a concerned look. "You okay, Anna? That was a big sigh."

Mei couldn’t stop glancing at Gianna, she was clearly red in the face compared to when Mei got there and they hadn’t had any of the wine yet. Then there was the little girls comments about coming to help her, help her with what? It was so obvious Mei thought it couldn’t be true. This would require more investigation.

“Sewing? Oh I can help with that, I knit and sew and crochet all the time, I made some of my own clothes and Richard has a scarf I made him. Put it on so we can see how it fits?”

Mei bounced at the thought of dressing up the little red head and getting to help with her outfit.

Gianna's eyes widen in terror as Cat turns to her. Merde!

But she quickly waves toward Mei as the cute Capellan excitedly offers help.

"Great, yes, see? You can use Mei's services," she says emphatically. And then realizes howher words could be interpreted. "Er, I mean... Merde!" And as she realizes she just cursed out loud in front of Maia: Oh, double merde!

Catherine gives Gianna a confused look. Something weird seems to be going on there, but she has no real idea what. It doesn't seem malicious though, so Cat decides to just go with the flow and give her friend a quick smile. "Okiedokie, Anna. Thanks."

Spinning back towards Mei, she gives the other woman a quick smile ... and now it is her turn to show a tiny bit of embarrassment. "Goo. You can sew, right?" The small redhead asks with a hint of desperate hope in her voice.

"Gi, be careful when you point like that your gonna jiggle to much and give the poor dear a concussion." She said playfully.

Looking at Cat. "Of course I can and I would love to help you. Like I said try it on so we can see how it fits right now, then I will know where to hem it in as I'm guessing it's too loose right?"

"Huh? What?" Catherine asks Mei-Ling confusedly, before lighting up with understanding. "Ah ... I already have a costume, I just need to get it zero-G proofed. Let me show you."

Plopping her butt down on the floor, she puts the small bag into her lap and begins to rummage around. The first thing to come out is a torn rag with strips of something stuck to it. There is just enough time to identify it as a mutilated sports bra, when the small redhead shoves it back into her bag, all the way to the bottom, with a soft murmur. ".. shoulda been more careful and not stuff everything in a hurry .."
Her face a bit redder now, she is more careful, when she pulls out the intended item. Another sports bra. Same brand, different colour. Nearly intact, except for the velcro strip that has been partially sewn onto it ... somewhat messily.

"So ... uh ... I have this nice Santa top, but it's a too big for me, so I need to find a method to keep it in place. Just enough to avoid any accidents. Can you help me, Goo?"

Some further rummaging brings forth an old cheap sewing kit, for children, with tiny flimsy needles and tiny rolls of thin frayed thread. Along with a bunch of sew-on velcro strips, that look more recently bought.

"That's why I got these."

"Oh I see, that's a good solution." Mei inspected the tools Cat was using. "These needles are awfully dull and bent, you know what, let me run to my room really quickly and get my needle. I can have this done for you in a jiffy I promise."

Mei set the things down and moved to the door.

"If you want you can see if any of my stuff fits you if you want to borrow something in the future. Gi honey I'm going to bring you something too, you look like you might be coming down with something."

Mei stepped out into the hallway and closed the door behind her.

"Ah.." Catherine had been quite sure of it after nearly on hour of frustration, but it is still good to hear it from another source. "Yeah ... I gathered." The small mech pilot sitting on the floor says slowly and lets her hands drop into her lap. She gives Mei-Ling a little smile. "Thanks that'd be super nice."

And then she is alone with Gianna. And the offer to try on some of the other Sergeant's clothes. "Uuh ... does Goo really think any of her clothes would fit me?" Cat turns towards her friend to ask. "She's like way taller and ... umm ... bigger. Up there."

"She... It..." Gianna raises a hand to her face and closes her eyes as she tries again.

"Mei seems very excited to share things. She, um..." Gianna shakes her blue hair gently. "Hey, if she wants to help stuff fit, it sounds like she knows how to do that. And she's got some really nice things she was... showing me earlier..." The older girl's voice trails off as she looks a little day dreamy about some of the outfits and what she'd seen in between them. She catches herself and coughs a little awkwardly. "She's, um... She's not super busty," the Canopian says quietly, suddenly self conscious that she's distinctly more curvy than either Cat or Mei.

Hearing that Mei might make the clothes fit her, gives Catherine the incentive to look at them more closely. "Huh ... I could use a wardrobe upgrade, but I don't think I can fill out any of these dresses properly." Hopping up from the floor to stand balanced on one leg with all her limbs splayed about, the small redhead gives Gianna a brief glimpse of her slender gymnast figure, before getting back on both feet.

Turning her attention back to the clothes pile, she muses. "They sure look nice though."

Looking away, Catherine misses most of her friend's awkward responses, although she is vaguely aware of them. Which is likely the reason the young Mechwarrior does not respond further about the topic of upper 'bustiness'.

"Hey, Anna, which of these do you think might suit me at least a little?" A bit more quietly she adds. "... there's a lot of black."

A cry for a fashion makeover is not to go unanswered by Gianna, even though that isn't a possibility again until after planet fall. Driven by that energy, the proud shopaholic renews her focus on Cat and the clothes.

"Soon as we get a chance, we'll go do some shopping to revitalize your wardrobe," Gianna commits. "Maybe take Mei along to help us with fitting things? Could be fun," she says with an encouraging smile at the younger girl.

"For right now, and yes there is some black... Black can be sexy though..." Gianna's words come out a little murmured as she looks back through all the clothes. "Although this..." As Gianna holds up a garment, she imagines how it looks on Mei and gets a little grin on her face.

"Hm." While Catherine enjoys shopping, her own Obsession is entirely directed towards Battlemechs. Still, it sounds like a nice plan.

"Sounds good. I need a few new things anyway." Most of all a few new sports bras. While not exactly running out, she somehow not so mysteriously lost a couple of them just recently. The redhead gives Gianna a quick smile. "If Mei likes the idea, sure. Looking at this huge heap of clothes, I would think she does."

The way Gianna is holding up the red and white garment, Cat can easily see how it would suit her friend. "That looks good on you, Anna. Top might be a bit tight for you though. Because ... ya know." She gives an apologetic shrug, with a less apologetic little grin of her own.

Gianna closes her and smiles, giggling.

"It's not... You goof," she chides warmly. "No, it'd be a little awkward to fit me in," she admits, more relaxed now. "It would work for you, though. Maybe get you something that gives a little lift, if you wanted," she says, glancing in the direction of the sports bras. "That's um... A good sister kind of activity," she adds gently, hoping the intended meaning comes through without bringing up anything awkward. You probably should have left that alone. Just do fun tonight!
