Battletech: Planet's Fall

Alek and Cat had arranged to do a bit of patrol. It was good to be back in the saddle after days in the training pods. He had brought his second with him Hammer being the serious woman she was was mostly quiet in her Shadow Hawk as they moved through the open country.

"Feels good to be away from the drop site." He called out over comms as they walked.

Catherine is stomping with her honorary uncle in the Wolverine she calls Dúthracht. Following them is her lancie Mouse in the much smaller Hornet.

"People complain that patrols are boring, but I just love being out here in my Battlemech." The little lieutenant radios back.

Alek laughs a bit "ahhh atta girl, nothing wrong with some calm time just working the Mech so you stay comfortable."

"Seems like it'll be just that for us, my scanners are showing all clear far as I can tell."

"That's patrols for you. My scanners show nothing unusual either." Catherine laughs. "Let's have a good stroll around the perimeter then and stretch our legs a bit."

"I'm glad the salvage of Budai is going so well. We were getting stretched dangerously thin."

Alek nodded "ya was a bit of a mess between budai and the camp lost a lot metal and people. Needed to make it worth it." He said as they patrolled at a leisurely pace.

"Well, our employer was giving us the boot to the butt, so we ran and made some noise for them. It did the job, but at what cost?"

She waves the hand of her Battlemech.

"Budai was a great haul though. We got some amazing stuff out of that place. More than makes up for what we lost there. The barracks not so much, but it made our paying friends happy."

Alek nodded "yeah certainly got some nice pieces of metal out of that mess. Heard we'll have a gauss rifle on our side now. That's no small feat." He said with an air of awe he had seen what those things could do to a mech. It was awesome and a little terrifying

"Plus Command told me they salvaged a Battlemaster out of that wreck and that if I want it it's mine." He said with some excitement "she's a big ol girl with more lasers and missiles than a platoon of tanks."

He paused "will mean ill need to give ol girl here to the company though." He said with a touch of sadness amid the excitement but it quickly passed

"More than one Gauss Rifle even, from what I heard. We got a very good haul from that lab." Catherine says with some vindication. "They are too heavy for my Mech, but I do like the noise they make."

"Oh wow! You are getting first dibs on that Battlemaster, Dhorn? That's amazing. Congratulations!" She gives him a big thumbs up with her Wolverine. "You'll definitely have some fun with that one."

The tomboy is silent for a moment. "I would like to take her into my lance, if you are okay with that. Ostrich would take good care of her. And Mouse could get the Trebuchet. It'd throw that little Hornet back into the reserve pool." Her voice is chiming with rising excitement. "I wanted to train her as jumper, but my lance would do well with some more firepower. I can send in a request later today, if you give me your okay."
