The morning's operations were over, and there was a break in operations. Yoko took the opportunity to get out of the Command HQ and get some fresh air, excusing herself after taking off her headset.
Stepping outside, she took a deep breath before pulling a cig out of the breast pocket of her uniform. Before she could light it though she walked over to the break tent and nearly ran into Klaus von Zinzer who was walking out of it.
"Oh, excuse me, Mister von Zinzer..."
A bow of her head.
"You on a break too?"
Yoko held the unlit cig between two fingers, wearing a dress coat and shirt, necktie, and office skirt.

"It's Lieutenant." Klaus corrects, and then sighs. "I'm sorry. Old habit, from when I was on general staff. The Lyran military tends to be sticklers for protocol. How are you Miss Lee? Have there been any reports other than Butcher neutralizing the exterior guard?"

"Apologies Lieutenant; Most people around here have been the opposite. Especially while on personal time like this. As far as the operations go, not really; Just more reports in from the transports. Sounds like tactical decided to split the teams up and attack from some different angles here."

"I know." Klaus nods, dipping his head for a moment. "Things are very different here. Not bad, simply different. This is just the time I am closest to what I used to be. As I said, old habits"
Klaus looks Yoko over. "I want to thank you. Tessa and I had a lovely time out with your tour. I need to increase the bar for our outings"

Yoko's past had had its own forms of protocol, ones she was trying to get away from. Still, it wasn't as if being 'on duty' here was the same sort of power structure or power plays as had been in the mob.
"Oh? And here I'd not been sure with you. I just wanted to make sure our First Lieutenant had a good time, and I thought bringing you along would help her to enjoy herself. So I'm glad the trip to Pryvidok wasn't a waste for you as well."
Yoko put away the cig she was going to have back in her pocket, "Speaking of that though, I've been meaning to have a chat with you. I don't suppose I could take a few minutes of your time to talk about things, neh?"
The cig could wait; She had other things she wanted to do and focus on for the moment.

"It was indeed a good time. It helped me, brought some things into focus."
Klaus' gaze falls onto the unlit cigarette at Yoko's prompt. "That sounds ominous. How might I be of service?"

The cig was tucked into her breast pocket, the tip sticking out like out of the end of a pack, "Ominous, really? I'll have to work on my delivery if that's the case. I just wanted to talk a bit, get to know you, that's all. Every time we've talked up until now Miss Wentworth has been around, so I haven't really gotten much of a chance to get to know Lieutenant von Zinzer as an individual. And I am a very curious person, especially about someone as mysterious and intriguing as yourself."

"Mysterious and intriguing?" Klaus chuckles. "I think I'm one of the most boring people you'll find in the officers' corps. Bluntly...I'm a nerd. I spin things around in my head and useful things pop out."

"See, now you're giving away the mystery. Way I saw it, you were a quiet man with an eyepatch, handsome nobleman with an unknown past."
Yoko stopped walking to lean back against a chainlink fence that had been put up for the dropsite camp.

"It's that that my past is unknown, it's just-" Klaus sighs and removes his gloves, revealing expansive burn scars. "I was on the analyst track in the AFFC military. I shouldn't have been anywhere near an open warzone, but when I was nominated to consult on a wargame, it was a chance at advancement."
"I informed the CO the the munitions we're improperly stored, but it was a war game and he wanted to be able to mobilize as quickly as possible. And it wasn't as if anyone was going to be shelling our location." Klaus pauses. "Not on purpose. One unlucky, stray shot and!" Klaus pantomimes an explosion. "I found myself looking for a new career"

Yoko looked at the burns and nodded, "I can see how that kind of thing you'd want to leave in the past. For more than one reason. Is it something you have strong feelings about then, as far as a legacy on your life goes? Or is it something you wish to just move on from to the here and now?"
