D11:LM:Simulators - Digital War - Expecting

One thing about the Angels' administrative section was that it was meaner and more complex than most of the military installations the mercenaries had attacked so far. It was full of traps, ramifications, dead ends and bureaucratic monsters roaming its halls, still, Ez had knocked down that bastion and won a slot for herself and Richard to use the simulators.

He was running a bit late and jogged down the hall a bit and came to a stop in front of the room.

"Sorry I'm late, but it's a bit of a walk from the new firing range." he said, panting lightly.

[Ezmeralda]

"Oh, good, I was just debating what I could do solo," Ez grinned at him with a hand on her hip. She had already striped down with her cooling vest hung around her shoulders, "The options seemed a little tight."

[Richard Winter]

"I'd rather have taken a week of latrine duty than miss the appointment," he said, grinning, "So your worries were for nothing." Richard didn't have his own cooling vest with him, so he would probably have to resort to borrowing one from the simulator room. He took off his T-shirt, though, and on his right shoulder you could still find the remains of the bruise that had accompanied him for the last few days.

[Ezmeralda]

"Was yours one of the rash of cockpit hits I heard about?" she asked noting the bruise.

"So we've got a Phoenix Hawk and an Orion. I'm thinking flanking maneuvers? a group of light vehicles like we have been facing plus a mech? Or would you rather a base attack? Couple turrets a few light defenders and a wall for you to jump to spoil their plans."

[Richard Winter]

He shook his head, "Nah, got into a firefight,...." he mad a pause, "Uhm i think all my missions so far have been raids and surprise attacks, so a stand by and fight scenario would be quite good.

[Ezmeralda]

"Really? Huh," she shook her head. There had been a lot of infantry fighting at the camp so maybe some holdouts there?

"Straight fight suits me fine," she started readying her vest, "What's on the menu or is that a surprise?"

[Richard Winter]

"That's what I get for sticking your nose everywhere," he said, going through the program options. "The scenario seems to work with little information, the only thing I have here is a brief description.:

Attack or Defend!
The city is doomed and has become the scene of war! Can you hold the city? Or can you conquer it?

Beware! Hard and unfair!

Fancy a challenge Ez?" he said with a smirk,

I take over the data from Yuusha for the fight, is Ez still: 3/4? And it's the Orion ON1-VA?

[Ezmeralda]

"Well, may as well do a stress test before we draw serious firepower," she said sliding into the sim-booth, "You want to bet on enemies shot down?"

Yup, that is right.

[Richard Winter]

"I think the bet wins the Orion,.... but still I say I get more kills, loser buys the other one a beer?" he said throwing himself into his respecting pod.

[Ezmeralda]

"Ok, a beer seems fair. My lance tried to pull that other joke on me after my mech blew," she closed the hatch and switched to comms, "They figured fighting over who'd get stuck in the urbie was pretty funny."

She began turning things on, "Now, let's see what we are up against."

[Richard Winter]

"Here we go then!" Richard started the simulation, the following situation presented itself to the two:



A robotic voice announced: "Reactor Online. Sensors Online. Weapons Online. All Systems Nominal. According to information, the last units of a local militia defend the main city with all means. All other units are tied up in battles in the city, it is your task to break the resistance at all costs! MechWarriors, prepare for combat!"

""Shit, that's a pretty tough defense circle, EZ, I'm going to try to get up on the north road and start firing on Jenner with the LL." he said over comms

[Ezmeralda]

"Great, what a day to be without jump jets," she said stomping forward, "Hopefully this doesn't expose me too much just yet."

walking forward 4, torso twist as much fire into the Jenner as possible.

[Richard Winter]

Ez stomped forward with her Orion while Richard activated his Jump Jets to jump over the buildings, as soon as he landed he tried to hit the Jenner with his Large Laser but had miscalculated the trajectory, in return the Jenner hit the left one of the Phoenix and inflicted some damage (5 damage LL, 27 armor left). Ez fired with everything she had, but only hit well with her SRM's, the Jenner had made a good trench in the reinforced position. 3/4 SRM hit, 2 Damage to CT, LT, LA (6,6,2 armor left).

(Phoenix Hawk at 1 heat, Orion at 0 Heat)



The Jenner maintained his position, but it seemed that he had called for support! Suddenly an Urbanmech appeared on the roof of a building nearby!

"Tsk! Are we supposed to clean up the trash now, too? Do we continue to focus on the Jenner?"

[Ezmeralda]

"Keep on the Jenner, I'll give his more exposed friend a second thought," She moved into cover of her own.

Turn and enter the forest approaching the Urbanmech, and open up on him.

[Richard Winter]

Ez's attack caused the Urbanmech to lose a lot of armor in several places, however his profile helped him fend off a few of the SRMs that flew at him, meanwhile Richard exchanged an almost 1:1 with the Jenner, who nearly blew off the entire armor of the Phoenix Hawk's right arm! However, Richard served that with a shot to the head on the Jenner!
The Urbanmech however missed both of his shots at the Orion, poor thrashcan,..

The group in the north seemed to give up their position while the beshcädigte Jenner tried to retreat a little, the Urbie, however, bravely persisted.

"They've almost got my right arm Ez, I'm going to have to move a bit, plus they're setting up an AC/10 position there right now!"

[Ezmeralda]

She looked about, "Well, I'm taking this Urbie's dare. I'll probably need to move after that though. You think you can handle that gun emplacement?"

Stay put alpha strike the Urbie

"Sure what's the worst that could happen?"

[Richard Winter]

Ez's Alpha Strike on the Urbanmech was devestating as the armor on its center torso got vaporized into nothing and all the sensible interior was visible now, however the Orion got a bit of it's armor nicked from the Jenner and the Urbanmech! The damage Ez had done to the Ubranmech, however, was great enough that the pilot staggered after his attack and simply fell over on the building.

Orion RA 19, LL 24, CT 26 Armor left,

Meanwhile, Richard took care of the field guns, but the men were extremely biting and would not be put down so quickly, even after he stomped down some of them!

(All Mechs at 0 Heat)



When the Urbanmech pilot tried to set up his mech again, he stumbled again, this time, it seemed, not moving.

"Tsk! Pesky Infantry is bugging me, but I'll manage, how is your front?"

[Ezmeralda]

"It is holding out. I'd be happier with a few less things testing it though," she steadied her stance and blasted the light mechs some more.

Stay still, lasers and ac into the Jenner, srms into the urbie.

[Richard Winter]

Richard moved forward to avoid being infront of a unch of AC/10 guns, but as soon as he got nearer to the guns, mines exploded under his feet. "Fuck, they've got mines take care where you walk to Ez" he yelled over comms.

The Orion had no trouble dealing with the Jenner and the immobile Urbanmech, Ez's attacks were raining down on the mechs and the Jenner looked like it would soon be nothing but smoke. On Richard's front it looked meaner, the infantry that was there gave him a hard time, but he also dealt out powerfully.

But just as Ez was rejoicing over her easy victory over the Urbanmech and the Jenner, a Scorpion fired into her from the side! The tank had hidden until now and wanted to secure the retreat of the Jenner!

Orion at 0 Heat, Phx at 4 Heat

Suddenly the mechanical voice sounded again through the simulators: "Pilots, the battle in the city is going well, support in the form of artillery is now being provided, attack on the center will be commenced".



The pilot of the Jenner wanted to be on the safe side and ejected from his mech, while the other Urbanmech came to support. Apparently there were more tanks hidden here because one approached Richard from behind!

"Shit man is the full here, I jumpe on the northern road and pray that the is not mined."
