The Cat Returns (D6 EA, Hangars, Open)

[Catherine Maia Hayes]

Today's battle has been a splendid success for Catherine. Her Lance suffered barely any damage. And they sure managed to haul some good salvage in.

Backing her Dúthracht into the maintenance bay, she opens her cockpit and peels herself out its snug confines, while the rest of her lance does the same.

Waiting for a mechtech to take up from her, she shoots a grin at her similarly waiting companions and they give each other a big thumbs up. Martina and herself are sweat soaked, after having run their mechs quite hot during the battle. But their quick clean win was well worth the effort.

John returned to the Hangar around the same time, coming in from a perimeter patrol. Couldn't take the entire lance out, but the three mechs still running could supplement the dropsite's defenses. It was some other lances rotation now though. He'd already gotten out of the cockpit and was hanging out with Spider and Magician.

John gives them a nod, releasing them to get cleaned up and do whatever they needed to do. He looked up to Cat and nodded but then started talking to a mechtech about something quietly.

The redhead greets Butcher back with a friendly wave. He appears to be busy, as usual, so she leaves him be.

He steps away from the mechtech and moves closer to the Cat's lance. "They said you won over the comms. Nice job. Welcome back."

[Yori Hakamada]

The slower DCMS lance stomps in a little later. Whoever is piloting the panther is clearing playing up the damaged foot while the Crusader pilot's machine walks with near unnatural precision. Without comment on any open channels the machines walk to their assigned bays and begin shutting down.

Alex and the Penguins return carrying Rico's Vindicator. "Well, we did it boys... we are home."

He steps away from the mechtech and moves closer to the Cat's lance. "They said you won over the comms. Nice job. Welcome back."

Catherine greets the towering man with a grin. "The Clowder did really well. Very minor damage. Only casualty was a left hand, because Ostrich kept catching too many enemy shots with it."

One bay further the woman in question rolled her eyes and sighed, while the even taller man one bay across let out a barking laugh.

"And thanks, Butcher. Glad to be back and bringing some success. We nabbed three tanks as salvage from what I could gather, so overall a solid plus for us."

Watching two more lances return, Catherine greets them both with a cheery wave. Although she balks at the sorry state of the Vindicator. "Uh ... looks like there is a story there." At least it is not a complete loss, like what she had heard happened to Easy's Hunchback.

Butcher gives Alex and Yori waves of their own.

"Three tanks is great. The more non-mech salvage we get the more mechtech we get to keep," he says with a nod.

"The share we get to keep is lower for non mech salvage though. Mechs would be lots better. It's still a good haul though, so yeah! I'm happy and excited." Catherine keeps grinning.

[Yori Hakamada]

Yori waves back mechanically at Butcher as the rest of her lance get together and start pouring what looks like a shot. When she returns they clink glasses together and down their drink (Tsuge follows this by coughing loudly) before the team starts strolling back to the HQ proper.

Yori meanwhile walks over to Butcher and Cat, saltuing the two formerly.
"2nd Lieutenant Hayes, Gunnery Sergeant Slaktare. Good afternoon. I am reasonably glad neither of you perished today."

Catherine returns the salute with her grin still going. "Good afternoon 1st Lieutenant Hakamada. I'm glad you have not perished either. I heard you managed to capture some nice Mechs. That's great."

After stationing the mechs, Alex came down and told Rico to go to the infirmary. The rest of the gang to go and hit the showers as the mechwarior wanted to assess the damage. The Penguin lead waved to the other leaders with a smile. "Hey Cat, John...Hakamada"

Butcher returned Yori's salute properly.

"Well, I wasn't in too much danger. Just patrolling the perimeter. Still down a Blackjack," he explains. Looking to Alex and Yori, "How did your battles go?"

"Thank you, it is acceptable that I did not perish myself. I hope the two mechs will be of use. It is regrettable that the Phoenix Hawk pilot was killed in such an unpleasant manner."

Yori snaps a salute at the returning Penguin.
"Sergeant Kovac, I see you did not die either. This is also good."

"We encountered a heavy enemy patrol. They engaged us vigorously and we destroyed them for minor damage inflicted on ourselves. All mechs performed acceptably and my lance and I will ingest too much alcohol tonight as part of our celebration ritual."
She starts staring at the other two pilots who'd seen combat that day to hear their reports.

The Penguin lead waved to the other leaders with a smile. "Hey Cat, John...Hakamada"

Catherine happily waves back. "Hey Alex. Glad to see you back. I hope that Vindicator is repairable."

"Thank you, it is acceptable that I did not perish myself. I hope the two mechs will be of use. It is regrettable that the Phoenix Hawk pilot was killed in such an unpleasant manner."

Taken aback a little by that, Catherine tries to find a good response. "That ... umm. That was a really bad accident, right? Sorry that happened, but I'm glad your lance is fine."

She starts staring at the other two pilots who'd seen combat that day to hear their reports.

The redhead blinks with some confusion, when she notices Yori staring at her and asks. "Yes?"

Alex shrugged to Yori. ”Seems it wasn't a good day to die."

The Penguin looked at Cat then to the Vindicator. "Well ... If we get the legs and the torso... I think we can make it work." Then sighed. "Better to repair the mech than listening to Rico complaining about not being able to fight."

"What exactly happened to it though? It looks pretty mangled, but thankfully not cored."

Continuing to gaze into Cat's soul
"May I ask how your mission was?"

"I'm sure the mechtechs will get you all up and running quickly," he says looking to the Vindicator as well.

This time? Catherine refuses to think about that any further.

Despite sort of knowing the woman for several years now, the tomboy still has no idea how to deal with that incessant stare. Fortunately a question comes in time. She can deal with that fine and well! The small Mechwarrior's expression lights up with a smile.

"Our mission went great! We encountered four tanks, captured three, banged up some. Fourth tank was only a partial salvage though. Captured a fully intact SRM turret too, for whatever that's worth. We only tool some armour scratch damage in return, except for the left hand of our Trebuchet being shot, because Ostrich kept catching enemy missiles with it."

One bay over, the woman in question rolls her eyes again. She has given up complaining about this particular line of teasing. It would be funnier, if she had not been informed that repairs would take two days, due to priority. That hand just is not all that combat essential.

"All in all, I am proud of the Clowder. We'll do some celebrating later too. We'd join you, but 'too much' alcohol sounds like .. well .. too much."
