Player Event: Texas Hold'em (D5;EE;Break Room;open)

Posted: Wed Jan 19, 2022 8:14 pm
by Richard Winter
Participants: Richard + 3 PC's

The table in the break room was set with cards, chips and a few bottles of beer. In an ashtray in the middle smoked the remains of a cigarette and through the old karaoke machine sounded the sounds of old days through the room.

It was poker night!
Step 1: Roll for Initative!
The player with the highest initiative determines the amount of the bet. This cannot be higher than 10 C-Bill.
The slowest player serves as the dealer. This one throws 3k3 (non-exploding). The result of this later forms the Victory TN
The winner of the game is the player who comes closest to the TN at the end. That means they don't have to beat it!

Step 2: The Flop & The River
In order of slowest to fastest, each player may do the following:
  • Play Risky: Force everyone to increase the pot by an amount of up to 5 C-Bill.
  • Play Carefully: You choose to play careful and gain a +1k0 to the resolution roll.
  • Play Cool: Your bluff intimidates another player, who receives a -1k0 penalty on his roll. (This can't stack)
  • Fold: Get out of the current round.
Step 3: The Showdown
After Step 2 is completed, all players (in no fixed order) throw a Game: Poker / Intelligence check, the closest to the TN wins the game. If there is a tie between players, the player with the highest roll wins. If this still does not break the tie, the players concerned will make a comparative Games: Poker / Intelligence check to determine the winner.
This can be repeated until either no one likes it anymore or the officers stop us

For her part, Yoko had a cigarello she'd gotten from Pryvidok earlier, savoring it slowly with sunshades on. She'd never been great at poker, but she liked it well enough certainly.

Ez tossed in her 2 c-bills worth of chips. "Alright and the flop."

She dealt face up three cards to the center: The Jack of Spades, the 8 of spades, and the 9 of diamonds.

She peaked at her own cards. "Well, what are folks saying?" [Plays carefully]

Having put 2 C-Bills in Yoko glanced at the flop. It wasn't anything special, truthfully. But it could be, with the right cards...

"You're only young once though," she said with a slight smile, putting 5 C-Bills in.

[playing recklessly]

She checked her cards. Looked at the flop. Paused a moment, then back at her cards before finally tossing 5-bills in the pot. "I think the river might be worth the chips," she glanced at her chips, "Still early enough for it anyways."

"Looks like you have nothing to lose, huh Yoko?" he said with a grin and throwed in antoher 5 C-Bills.

"Let's see what the cards bring us" he said and waited for EZ to turn over the river.

Pretty girls and poker seemed like a good place for Gianna to be, so she followed up on Richard's invitation. Arriving fashionably late wasn't her intention but she hoped no one would mind. Even if the game was full, watching and hanging out wasn't a bad plan either.

"Hey, everyone," she says warmly as she comes up to the table. She doesn't know any of them terribly well, but everyone in the Angels is at least some degree of friend for Gianna.

She pulls her glasses closer to the end of her noise and smiles in the sort of cute way that has gotten her a seat at plenty of tables over the years.

The fourth card was...

the eight of hearts.

It wasn't bad but it wasn't playing into the temptations set out in the flop. Still someone could have just had their hand improved.

"Hey Gianna. Will deal you in next hand but I'll get you chips now," she grabbed the chip jar, "I'm staying by the way." [Playing cautious]

"Hey Gianna!" he greeted her before focusing back on play. "Looks like this is going to be a good first round" he bluffed. [Playing Cool: Target Yoko:]

Yoko recognized Gianna from around the ship, though she'd not really talked to the woman much. As to the river, it wasn't the worst card really, even if she wasn't sure how much it helped her case or not. Wanting to see another card, she simply called and didn't put more c-bills in. [play carefully]

"Here we go!" she flipped the final card. The 7 of Clubs.

"So..... the straight might play out," she said pondering the pot, "Standing." [Playing cautious]

"Could be. I mean, if you're not going to raise it I'm going to take the risk."

Yoko stands, looking at Ez.

(Play it Cool targeting Ezmerelda)

With the cards out and bidding over, Yoko lays down with an Ace and King of Spades; Apparently she'd been hoping for another Spade, or maybe a Queen and Ten on the river.

Roll = 15, 11 away from TN of 26
