Knock, knock...pause knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, pause knock, pause knock...and so it goes on as Yori wraps politely on Richard Winter's door.

He would open the door, and look at Yori a bit gobsmacked, he wasn't really expecting visitors. "Oh, hi, Yori, what can I do for you?" he asked, smiling.

Yori holds up the lent comics with two hands and bows slightly presenting them to Richard.
"I am returning your manga to you. Thank you for the loan I found it....exceptionally interesting. Might we discuss these chapters if you are free?"

"Oh of course, come in" he said and asked Yori into his private quarters.
Yori would find a cabin the same size as hers, though the furnishings would probably be massively different. The shelves were full of books, comics and mangas, and there were several pieces of wood and tools on the table. As it looked, Richard was working on a wooden model of a Battlemech, which exactly could not be seen yet.
"Sit down please, can I offer you something to drink?" he asked politely, while he cleared his tools and the wood away from the table.

"How interesting, no fish tank."
Yori doesn't elaborate slowly steps over to the shelves and cocks her head as she slowly reads through the various titles.
"I will drink any of the standard beverages. Water, Juices, Milks, Alcoholic products, ect."
Turning back to him.
"You are a woodworker as well?"

"Do you have a fish tank in your room?" he asked curiously.
He took out two cups and poured some lukewarm coffee from a pot and placed it on the table.
"I carve figures from time to time, it's a little tricky, but it has something of its own to have made something with your hands."

"Of course, it is where my Koi live."
Sitting down calmly and taking a cup of coffee with a nod of thanks.
"Carving is good, I was not allowed to play with knives as a child so I never developed the skill. Are you carving a marauder?"

"I didn't know that live animals were allowed on board, do they take zero-g well, I'm not really familiar with fish" he asked and took a sip of coffee "No, this will be more of a Wolverine once it's done, it's supposed to be some kind of gift" he explained briefly

"I do not think they mind, or at least they have not mentioned it to me."
When Richard sips she also sips as if copying his action.
"Who is the gift for?...Wait one moment, Sergeant Hayes possess a wolverine. Are you crafting it for her?"

"Sometimes it's scary how smart you are." he said with a smile "I hurt her a little bit the other day and I want to apologize with something, I have a hard time making up for something with words." he explained. "Emotionally, not physically" he added quickly, knowing that Yori would have asked for it.

The Lieutenant nods
"I appreciate the clarification, the difference can be important at times, and it is a good way to apologise."
Neutrally
"Are you two in a relationship? I have noted the increase in gifts offered and received between partners."
Yori stares intently at Richard, forgetting to blink.

"Don't forget to blink" he said a bit unsettled, somewhat jokingly
"But no, not really, she just reminds me of someone." he says, his eyes darting briefly to a picture frame in the corner.
On it, Richard could be seen with a woman and another man who were younger than Richard. The three smiled into the camera. Richard was wearing the uniform of the AFFC, while the other two were in civilian clothes. Next to it was a picture with two older people and a child Richard with the same two others as children.
"Um, neither sexual, nor really friendship, I guess," he added.

"Thank you for the reminder."
Slow blink once, then twice.
"It's easy to forget sometimes when I'm thinking."
Following his gaze over to the picture
"Not sexual...or a friendship. I believe that leaves enemies, family or indifferent. Given you would not make a figurine for someone you are indifferent towards, and you would only make one ironically for any enemy, then do you feel familial towards the sergeant?"
Yori seems to weigh this up for a moment.
"They do say companies like this are like families."

"I guess," he said, slightly embarrassed. "She reminds me a little of my younger sister."
He took another sip of coffee.
"May I ask if you have family?"

"You may."
Yori just looks at him for a few moments as the silence stretches.
"Oh, I see. I am an only child, from a family with a long tradition of military service, although I am the first pilot of a mech. My parents were still alive last I heard, but we have not spoke in four years."

"I see. I talked to my siblings the last time after Kelenfold," he answered with some sadness in his voice.
After a pause, he slapped his thigh and took one deep breath. "But you didn't come here to talk about such things, did you?"

"I did not expressly come here to
not talk about such things, but I believe I understand you. Would you like to discuss manga? I would like to make sure I am taking the right lessons from the story."

"At the beginning I believe, we can work chronologically?"
Yori raises an eyebrow, assuming it's either that or somehow alphabetically...thematically never counted.
"At the start of the story we meet Kentaro the demon samurai, and he fights a demon. That I understood, the demon is clearly evil. But then it flashed back to how he had a demon bound within himself, and I was unsure of his motivations. His daughter was not yet missing at that point, so why did he do it?"

"Yeah, uh sure at first" Richard had to be more careful to be specific with Yori.
"Well, I think he did it because someone had to stand up to the demons, normal people were hardly able to do that and as a character he put the good of everyone above his own good, not everyone would do that, especially because you run the risk of losing your soul and yourself. From the author's point of view, this should probably show us how willing Kentaro is to sacrifice and what role his selflessness will play in the further course of the story."
