It wasn't often that he sat around doing nothing. Well, it wasn't nothing, but it wasn't active. He had Winkey and Spider running through some scenarios and was watching so he could critique after. It was important even if he felt like his muscles would atrophy.

Kappa Mickey and Alex went to the sims to show Mickey some strategies that people use during combat and they encountered John and part of his lance. Alex nodded to the man and smile. Michael just waved with a smile on his face. "Hi."

"Afternoon," he says to the new arrivals. "Good day for it. How are you?"

"Practice makes perfect, study helps see errors of ways... Something like that my dad used to say.” Alex expressed. Mickey just watched somewhat in awe. "It is a nice way to what things Mecha can do."

"Yeah. Better to learn from your mistakes here than in the field," Butcher agrees.

"Don't get better without effort."

Winkey's simulator opens first and Spider crawls out of his after.

Spider gives a smile to the other group. "Hey Mickey." The two of them were around the same experience and time with the company.

Winkey waved to the others and took a drink, quiet for now.

Alex pushes Mickey to go in the sims. Mickey nodded and moved into the sims. Alex smiled that the pilot didn't need persuasion to go in. "He got the slow Urbie... but I think my strat to keep him close to protect us from incoming close range can work." Alex gave it some thought.

"Ah, tough machine," John says with a nod. "Mind if I watch with?"

Spider and Winkey decided to take a break together and enjoy their water while going over their performance.

"Not at all. Mickey is a good kid but a bit lacking in some aspects of life." Alex looked at the sims. "Start with simple scenarios then work up a complexity"

"Nobody stays a kid long in this life," John replies. "How you been doing Alex?"

Alex shrugged. "I am good I feel a bit anxious but alright... I have confidence in my lance." The warrior smiled. "Life can be rough sometimes but yeah... it is part of what makes us who we are."

"We got a lot of good prep work in already. I got confidence for the Angels tomorrow. Gettin some late hour sim time'll help too, I'm sure."

He watches Mickey's sim with interest.

"Yeah..." Mickey seem to have the hang of it. Trying to maneuver the bulky mech among narrow space was somewhat tricky but he had not scratched any walls may be a bump here or there. "But sometimes sims aren't enough... The real sound of ammo and being shot is not the same."

"Yeah. Nothing wakes you up quicker than an unlucky shot tearing through the cockpit. Eye opening. And the first scar always feels like a badge. He's got a lot to learn. Same as Spider."

"Ah yes... I hope that will not be the case. The more I think about it... I believe the overheating can also make things quite difficult. So nice that we are in a cool climate here."

Mickey cringed when he saw that he gotten to a dead end. The mech pilot decided to try and use the laser to cut an exit.

"It should help. But it'll help the enemy too. Level playing field."

He nods at Mickey's move.

"Works well for a tough machine like that."

Alex smiled at the resorceful Penguin. "True, they do have the field advantage knowing the terrain. We are the invaders...we may have the asvantage of surprise... unless they detected our decent." Alex sighed.

Mickey finished cutting the wall making his way to the next scene. His mechnis starting to overheat due to the laser and there is one patrol of infantry people with long weapons.

"With how recon went earlier, I suspect they don't know much if they know anything. We'll get 'em good. I'm definitely excited though. Keeps me on edge, the day before battle."

He watches to see if the infantry are spotted.

"I check on my mech the day before. I don't know what happened yesterday that the mech didn't want to start." Alex sighed.

The infantry had located Mickey. Mickey was starting to panic. "Oh man, oh man, oh man..." The Penguin started to wonder what to do. He took a deep breath and relaxed. The infantry started shooting but due to the cool temprature outside had helped the time to being able to start up the mech and shoot.

"These machines can be quirky. I'm pretty sure there's folks hiding in them, moving stuff around and messing with us sometimes. All that stuff goes over my head."

Butcher watches impassively as the penguin figures out how to deal with the scenario, wondering what will happen next.

"Some people say there are ghosts in the machine...but those are just myths." Alex chuckled. "The mechs may have a personality given to them by ourselves." Alex nodded as the penguin watched the lancemate eliminate a few infantry. The scenario complicated when a Scorpion appeared.

"Things are starting to get complicated."
