Sosanna and Eric had been among the first Angels to step foot on Csesztreg after they'd landed on Akos. There was snow everywhere. They'd trudged through it to get a better appreciation of the area and conditions first hand before making their way back onto the Angel's Descent's ramps. Already the infantry and support staff were unloading and creating a perimeter. The three large spheroid ships were in a triangle shape with the Leopard in the centre. The mobile headquarters would also go there along with the artillery. It created a sort of impromptu firebase. All the dropships were heavily armed after all... not that they could afford damage to any of them.

After a quick chat about the needs of the day, both the Major and Senior Captain had turned to watch the tanks leaving Big Bertha. They'd likely be staying at the dropsite at all times to help keep it secure. Both Eric and Sosanna were wrapped up warm, wearing their coats, as it was cold out. A member of the dropship crew brought over some coffee for each of them. It was a relatively quiet moment for both as the chaos of the initial attack and landing passed and the camp set-up work began to ramp up.

"Oof, hace un frio de perros!"

Alison had at least thought far enough ahead to find something warm to wear, locating her fluffy purple hooded coat and putting the hood up. To complete, a pair of black sunglasses...which totally did not look right. In her hands was a sealed cup to carry coffee in, which she was holding tightly.

"Why did it have to be winter?"

Sosanna overheard this and walked over. She was holding her own coffee cup with one hand, her hood was down and she looked remarkably comfortable.

"Good morning dearie. This isn't winter anymore. Not really. It'd be minus ten or more if we had arrived in January."

She has a sip of her coffee. Then she turns thoughtful.

"Someone should organise some hot coco."

"This isn't winter?"

Alison looked out at the snow, then back at the woman.

"Feels like winter to me, what season is it? Do they get summer here?"

A pause.

"Coco sounds good though once I've consumed this coffee. I'd add and wake up normally but that chill woke me up immediately."

"We'd need to ask a local, but you could call it the start of spring."

Eric walked over with his own coffee. Unlike Sosanna, his hood was up and he looked cold.

"Definitely feels like winter to me too. If there is a summer here then I wish the AFFC had timed their attack for it."

"I grew up on an icy world. This really isn't so bad. There are flowers."

She indicates a few just outside the scorch marks and melted snow left by the landing of the Angel's Descent.

"I'll have one of my crew prepare some coco. Do you want one too Eric?"

He held up his coffee.

"Just more of this please Sosa."

"I'm a summer girl, not that you'd tell with the amount of black I own. Although I'm very glad I picked up this wooly piece before we left on a tipoff that the location might be chillier than I'm used to" She admired her big coat for a few moments before talking again.

"Don't suppose they have marshmallows too?" she added, looking out at the flowers, smiling. It was nice to see a little colour out in the white snow.

"Afraid not dear."

There was a moment of silence as the lack of marshmallows was respectfully acknowledged.

Eric wondered if it was a good idea to order some.

Alison indeed took a moment to respect the lack of the bringers of happiness, the most wonderful clouds of joy the marshmallow. Just one of many losses that would certainly happen in the days to come.

"Landing was pretty good. Watching the people unpack with such speed as well...could have used a few of them on tour, I swear some of the roadies were snails in a previous life."

She finished off her coffee, hoping for the hot chocolate to arrive soon. She was freezing still.

"On tour?" Eric asked, his gaze sweeping to Alison. Somehow he had not heard about this.

Alison looked to Eric and nodded

"Well yeah. I was a singer in a band for three years, then one year solo before taking a break a year ago. Touring is a big part of being a performer, and you had people not unlike this who would tour with you to make sure everything worked smoothly."

Eric did the math. He remembered she was a young recruit. Not yet in her 20s.

"Aren't you only 18 or 19? I really must be getting old."

"Now now Eric, stop that before I pull your ear."

A moment later and another crew member hurried over. No running however. Just a fast walk. He was carefully holding level a cupholder with two cups of hot chocolate. She collected it from him and watched as the man fished around for some tubes of sugar.

Without a word Sosanna handed one of the cups and two of the sugar tubes to Alison.

Alison nodded at the question

"Nineteen. Was only 14 when I did my first live performance and I was pumped. Or terrified. Can't really remember which now because once we got into it all I can remember was people screaming and jumping and singing along with us. Man that was a thrill. I was kinda young starting but I don't think anyone really cared. Music doesn't have an age limit after all."

She accepted the cup of hot chocolate and sugar with a very joyful smile and a nod of thanks, adding the sugar to the already pretty sweet drink.

"I feel warmer already" she said, happily holding the drink close.

"I guess so. What kind of music?" Eric was a little curious. The young woman before him didn't have any of the usual backgrounds for a mercenary.

Sosanna had given Alison a nod of approval. She otherwise finished her coffee, passed it back to the crewman and sent him on his way. She held her hot chocolate and watched as a mech marched down a nearby ramp. It didn't faze her.

"Usually heavy rock or metal. We did a couple ballads and those were nice for a chance, but I much prefer the thrill of a powerful song. Shredding guitar, aggressive vocals. Riling a crowd up into a frenzy with the sound of your voice. Not that I can play the guitar, I'm the voice of the group. Well, was until we split up, but I still am lead whenever I perform."

Alison took a moment to finally sip the hot chocolate, watching the mech march down.

"What kinda stuff you into?"

"Good morning" greeted a Richard, dressed in uniform and red scarf, with a coffee in his hand, the small group. He took one deep breath and exhaled. "Fresh air at last"

"Jazz, country, classic rock." Eric answers honestly. "I don't mesh with growls and shouting... not that you necessarily do that, just uh..."

Then came the bell.

"Good morning Lieutenant! It's good to see you. When is your lance heading out?" Eric asks, immediately heading over to Richard.

Sosanna made a knowing noise as she sipped her coco.

"Don't mind him dearie. Men that age are set in their ways."
