Pick a Target Discussion (D1 EE Event Headquarters and Briefing Room)

(Mandatory for all Combat characters and optional for Non-Combat characters)
All the lance leads and other key military staff were ordered to gather in the Briefing Room in the evening to go over possible targets and to agree which to strike. There was more information than before after orbital scans, but it was still limited. However, it was enough to formulate immediate plans. An informant would soon meet up with the Angels to give them more information. Until there, the known information was shared by some of the senior staff.
A map was shown depicting the continent. Key civilian sites were in red. Blue sites denoted key Militia sites. Purple were secondary military sites. There was also an orange dot for their current dropsite.
The map was zoomed in to the immediate operational zone. It had been given the simple moniker of Zone One. Eric informed everyone that the plan was to hit one target in Zone One in the next few days while gathering intelligence on all of them. There were five sites of interest. Some would be more challenging than others, but there would likely be more rewards in terms of salvage with more challenge. He wanted everyone's opinions. Some initial predictions on enemy numbers and the effect on the campaign were shared. There would then be time for questions and discussion. It was soon clear from all this that different members of the Angels' command staff had different priorities. There would be a chance to persuade them to go along with suggestions.
(This is the thread for discussion)

Butcher was present and ready as required of him for the briefing. But he was quiet and didn't interfere with discussions.

The day has been a busy one so far, but Catherine is still brimming with energy. Now it is time to see what the planning staff has cooked up. Giving a quick salute upon entering, the short redhead then looks around as best she can. Time to mingle a little and see what people think.

Ezmeralda arrived and looked over the targets. "So... manufacturing facilities, town raiding, or a frontal assault? Those are some tempting salvage options..."

"Very tempting. A weapons development company has to have some good stuff, right? It's a legitimate target too." Laks states with conviction as she takes a seat just behind Ez and Cat. Her words seemed to imply she'd consider attacking it even if it wasn't a legitimate target.

"It'd please the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth too, but that Garrison is a bigger target." Kurt chimes in, strolling over to where conversation was taking place.
"I'm Hauptmann Guttenberg. Kurt Guttenberg. I represent your employer and I can confidently say that neutralising that garrison would be a major boon to you and us. Nothing else will send as large a shock through the Akos Militia. It's also very achievable for a unit as large as this one."
He scans the trio of mechwarriors before letting out a sigh. None of them looked to be noble born. "Not that you'll necessarily listen to that. You are mercenaries after all. I should probably mention it is bound to have a good amount of salvage. Half the salvage value of every defender you neutralise goes into your unit's coffers. Or the equipment itself, if you can get it running again."

"They might have experimental weapons, or better even: Lostech!" Catherine immediately agrees with her Captain and bends herself over all the way back to look at Lakshmi, so she can give her a quick little sorta upside down salute along with a smile.
"I like the idea of going for the weapons development company first to warm up and shake the rust off. Biggest surprises might also come from there, so it seems like a good idea for that reason too. We can go after the big garrison from there, depending on developments." Then Catherine blinks, straightens herself up and gives the man a proper salute. "And a good evening to you, Hauptmann Guttenberg. I'm Sergeant Catherine Maia Hayes, Obsidian Angels."

She turned herself halfway around in her chair. "Lostech seems a bit much unless we really luck out and this is an upgraded line for Helm memory core swag."
She glanced at the Lyran. "I don't know... Trashing supply lines seems like a nice low risk way to wear them down. No need to draw too much attention too early." she winked, "Give them something to overthink for a moment." She looked to Lakshmi before she decided to follow Cat on the salute.

The sharply dressed man is a touch visibly surprised. He does, however, return the small girl's salute. Wasn't she the same sort of age as his daughter? Maybe younger even. Typical mercs and their blatant disregard for sensibilities.
"Yes, good evening. It would be a good secondary target I suppose, Sergeant Hayes. Yes, I know your unit's name. I
am the Liaison Officer to you all." He spoke with a distinct voice. One devoid of any notable accent. It was also quite devoid of emotion, although he had emphasised a word, suggesting some disdain for Cat's unnecessary addition.
His gaze swept to Ez. His salute to her and Laks is less formal. The lack of any rank insignias made it all very confusing. Somehow the small woman was a Sergeant and the older one was probably a Corporal or some such. "If you're not very confident in your abilities then that makes sense. I do hope your unit's efforts ramp up over time however. What company are you in?"

"Raider Company. All three of us are. So, trashing supply lines and taking stuff is kind of our thing." She shifted forward to pat Ez's shoulder to show her support.
"I'm Captain Kaala. This is Sergeant Ezmeralda. Nice to meet ya." She gives a quick salute. Then she sits back in her chair with a satisfied expression as Kurt looked dumbfounded.

She offered a salute as she was introduced. "Pleasure, sir."

Butcher continued to sit and not say anything as people were being introduced to the fancy noble. Whatever.

"Charmed..." He gives a token smile to Ez and Laks. Then he walks stiffly back toward where Eric and others were gathered. The discussion over targets would soon follow.
There were plenty of opportunities to ask questions too.

Yori arrives, clothes and face looking freshly showered, starched and ironed. Higher ranking officers are uniformly offered a crisp salute before she find herself a location to sit down and setup her own map.
Why exactly she felt the need to have her own map was unclear but she seemed very possessive of it.

Charlie arrived. He was just going to keep quiet unless someone directly asked him. Let the mechwarriors hammer it out. They were the ones risking their life. He was just here if they wanted a tech's opinion.

"Crush a girl's dreams, willya?" The young Sergeant shoots her fellow Mechwarrior a quick grin.
The Hauptmann gets a friendly little shrug from the young redhead. "Just trying to be polite. Hauptmann Guttenberg. Didn't know you dislike such formalities. Bit of a surprise honestly, but saves some time."
She later gives his receding back a playful wave and sits back down again.
"Stiff guy, that one." She remarks quietly to the other two, meant only for their ears. "Guess he got a broom for Christmas and was told where to shove it."

Kenna immediately makes a beeline for Charlie.
"Another mechtech actually came. Well, I'll be damned."
He takes a seat right beside Charlie.
"It's obvious the best stuff will be at Budai." The Chief Mechtech leaned in closer to Charlie. "I hear they have a gauss rifle testing range. You know what that means."

"He still hasn't been given an order to remove it either." Laks agrees, crossing her legs and still looking quite satisfied at the conclusion of the interaction.

Mei walked in carrying a large platter covered in plastic wrap.
"Hey everyone how's it going. I brought everyone a little snack, Dr. Ainsley and I baked cookies. Chocolate chip and peanut butter nipples. Eat up. So what are we discussing?"

Uncharacteristically, and 100 percent against his strict diet, Butcher takes one of the cookies and returns to his seat. He nods in thanks to Mei before taking a bite.
