Terms of Contract (Day 8 EA, Admin offices)

[Lakshmi Kaala]

"I'm happy for you." She says, spinning about and walking backwards while talking to Ez. "You're going to have a neat ride." With Laks it was often about the mechs.

[Ezmeralda]

"It is a solid beast. I'm always surprised that those big barrel fists are just mounting medium lasers," she laughed as she checked to make sure her captain didn't accidentally walk into senior command staff, "They look like they should be class 10 autocannons like the Enforcer or Centurion."

The smaller woman had very good dexterity, but that didn't mean she wouldn't bump into someone if she didn't see them. It was good nobody was behind her.

"That'd be something. A big mech with a bunch of heavy cannons. Maybe one you'll get to pilot something like that."

She spun around as they hit an intersection. Ez knew the Captain's room was close now.

[Ezmeralda]

"Like a Warhammer or an old Hammerhand? My point is it seems weird that they are such small guns," she shrugged, "Even those new Maulers have large lasers."

She glanced to one side, "I think we are about there, yeah?"

[Lakshmi Kaala]

"You've visited before. Remember that time you and your lancemates came for a sleepo- ... eto. Maybe you don't." She shuts up and silently walks to the door to her quarters. She opens it to let Ez in.

[Ezmeralda]

"I know I've been here before. I'm just not used to officer's row," she looked around as she enters Laks' room.

"Those are pretty," she says gesturing towards a pile of discarded clothes with a grin.

"Get some achievements so I can get you bumped to Lieutenant and you'll get used to it." Laks had said before Ez's remark on her clothes. She shuts the door with a chuckle. "I like pretty. Now, stop staring at my washing pile of shame." She claps Ez's bottom as she walks past and over to her drawers.

"Eto... here we go. I've not looked in this one for a while." She had pulled it all the way out to get access to a low box in the back, behind her socks. She took it out and set it on her desk. Opening it reveals a lot of knit-knacks and small toys and all sorts really. There was some sort of handheld gaming device, badges and key charms, a pink ribbon and a friendship bracelet. Multiple sticker sheets; one with fairies, another had cars and explosions, two had mechs, one had traditional Japanese mythological things and samurai, and there was one with flowers and cutesy animals.

The Captain gestured for Ez to have a root around. "Some of those were mine and a lot is not. Kids' things that they outgrew. That sort of thing." She spots something and reached for it. "Actually, these were Cat's. I should show her them." She'd picked up the sticker sheets with the mechs.

[Ezmeralda]

She giggled as Laks changed the subject, "Sure. What have we got here?" she poked about, "So... a bunch of discarded kid's stuff?" She seemed mildly confused but not uninterested in the contents of the box.

[Lakshmi Kaala]

"Some of it, but there are charms." Laks points out. She looked back in the drawer and then a stack of old magazines is pulled out, knocking some socks to the floor. She sets it down on the desk beside the box.

"And there are a lot of different magazines there. Good for plastering your cockpit with pictures. Try not to put in so many the Chief Mechtech complains to me about a fire hazard."

[Ezmeralda]

"Well, I don't want to clutter it with pictures and stuff," she looked through the box, "But some of these key charms could work. Teddy bear, cutesy food items... hearts..." she said inspecting selections from the box.

[Lakshmi Kaala]

"Nobody will miss them. Either grown up, left or... no longer with us. I'm not sure why I've held on to some of them. So, hai, help yourself."

She moved to sit on her bad and to check the time.

"I should have grabbed something for lunch."

[Ezmeralda]

"Like a hamburger?" she tossed her a foam hamburger keychain charm, "Some of these are pretty weird. I guess I'm not the first member of the company to collect kitschy junk to remember places by?" She holds up a baby bottle one bemusedly, "I think I'm grabbing this Magical Faerie Silver Star one though. That show was old when I watched it."

[Lakshmi Kaala]

"Yes, but edible." She says, picking up the hamburger key chain and aiming for the boy. She flicks it through the air and back into its place.

"I didn't know that one was from a show."

[Ezmeralda]

"Oh, yeah, an old HVLuthien cartoon. It was about as new a cartoon as the local stations carried back home," she laughed, "I am well versed in retro animation pop culture I'm told. Barely seen anything my age or younger mind you."

"I mean it is HVLuthien, old HVLuthien even, so it is a whole lot of propaganda. The bad guys were standard issue e~vil~ Davions. But the lead character was cute."

[Lakshmi Kaala]

"That sounds about right. E~vil~ Davions." She grins in amusement. "Most of my classmates in elementary and junior school were into Demon Samurai Kentaro and such, as well as the propaganda cartoons on bushido. I was the weird one who preferred climbing trees and going for rides on my bike. I even used to like camping. I'm going to guess you were an outdoorsy type too...?" Laks asks, placing her hands on her lap and finger tapping along her thighs to a song she had in her head.

[Ezmeralda]

"Yeah, they do love their samurai shows... Not exactly my favourite genre though," she laughed, "And yeah, when things weren't horrible I'd go out and about on an atv. Then in middle school the mech club got a hold of a beat up Powerman haulermech and patched it up. After that we mostly went into the hills in that old junker looking for scrap we might be able to sell in town for parts and snacks and such."

[Lakshmi Kaala]

"That sounds really fun. I'm a little jealous. I never got to use a mech until I was at the Academy..." She looks up thoughtfully. "So, have you picked out what you'd like? I'll come collect you tomorrow morning and maybe you can go shopping for more when you have some down time."

[Ezmeralda]

"Really? I got into the academy based off my performance in the club," She scratched her cheek, "Then again most worlds have a bit more around that kids could smash up with even that little mech. Out back of town were old mine ghost towns and overgrown remains of skirmishes over them from the first Succession War. Heck, that's where we found the thing."

"Yeah, these three have potential to make it feel a bit more homey," she held up a set of key chain charms including Magical Faerie Silver Star.

[Lakshmi Kaala]

Laks had tried abruptly changing the topic, but Esmeralda had revived it immediately. She makes a vaguely affirmative noise at first before replying proper albeit only about the charms. "Try to keep these safe. No more point blank fisticuffs, neh?"

[Ezmeralda]

"Oh, alright. Take care Laks," she gave a nod and taking the hint made to leave.
