Breakfast of Champions (D9 EM Cafeteria Expecting)

[John Slaktare]

"Yeah, a guy that wanted to kill me over something. I didn't know why and I still don't get it. Which I'm sure only pissed him off even more that I didn't even remember the thing that he was willing to kill me over. But it wasn't that bad a stab. That's what this scar is," he says pulling up the sleeve of his t-shirt and turning so she can see his shoulder. It was definitely not in a very deadly spot.

"Hit the bone then stopped. He didn't pull it out after the stab so I just turned away so he couldn't grab the knife again. Then I kicked him in the soft bits and stomped him unconscious. But I been a bit paranoid about walking through crowds since then."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Well that seems a reasonable reason not to like crowds, too bad they are less avoidable than the sea but at least it wasn't a random stabbing. I mean the guy knew you somehow unless it was mistaken identity."

[John Slaktare]

"I'm sure I had it coming. I ain't exactly been the nicest guy at the darker times in my life. I've sucker punched people that gave me reason to," he says with a shrug, lowering his sleeve. "It's not like I'm expecting it to happen again, but I assume if I got stabbed once for a reason I couldn't remember it's not impossible it might happen again."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Yeah that makes sense but now you've got me watching your back." She makes a bunch of bad karate chops at the air. "I am ready to kick some ass."

[John Slaktare]

"I do got you now. And you got me. We should actually go somewhere together before we go on any double dates. What do you think?"

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Sounds great to me, You wanna ask around the ship about places or just go into town and see what we can find?"

[John Slaktare]

"Let's just explore and we can figure it out together. Probably go tomorrow or the day after?"

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Lets"

A fresh wave of cramps interrupted her in a bid to share it's opinion.

"Lets do it the day after tomorrow, I want to be able to focus on you and not my abdomen. Tomorrow lets go out with some people and maybe along the way we see something that grabs our interest for the night after."

[John Slaktare]

"Okay. Sounds good. I look forward to every chance to spend time with you."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"You know you're pretty great yourself? I'll grab a few extra odds and ends from my room before I head over tonight. I'm sorry that I'm not going to be as much fun for a few days but there is plenty of me that is still working right."

[John Slaktare]

"You don't need to worry about that at all. It is what it is, and I want you to be comfortable. Ain't something I'm super familiar with but I know it's normal."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"I'm really doing to enjoy the day it isn't anymore."

She picked up an orange and began to peal it.

"So how do you think we are doing so far? The mission I mean, not us."

[John Slaktare]

"Seems like we're pulling in some good salvage. I think we're doing pretty well. As for how we're doing on the aims of the contract, I'm not sure. That stuff all goes over my head."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"We have so many medium mechs that I thinking I can safely try to move my lance up in weight. All four of us want to be in heavier mechs but we all have specific mechs we dream of piloting, so trying to find things that are at least LIKE what they want is tricky. Like, Hoops wants a Catapult but those aren't exactly raining from the sky."

[John Slaktare]

Butcher nods at that. "Just moved Spider from a Locust to a Griffin, so now my entire lance can jump and we got some missiles. I think we're at least gonna come out of this contract stronger."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"A jumping Spider sounds terrifying." She said with a giggle.

"My lance all feel like we are locked into light mechs because we are in the scout company, their gonna be really surprised when they see a heavy in our ranks today so I'm hoping that after the initial shock and frustration that they all didn't get one they will realize that there is hope.

I can't wait to hear you tell me about all the enemies you squish."

[John Slaktare]

"I'll tell you about it after my next deployment. Look forward to hearing about your own fight too. You might have a bad feeling, but I got a good one."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"I'm just gonna trust in your confidence then because my emotions are all over the place today. Mei's top tip, don't have a uterus unless you really really need it."

[John Slaktare]

"Well, if I need one I don't got my own. So I gotta use yours I guess."

At that Butcher gives her the slightest hint of a smirk then takes her hand.

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"It's currently under renovation, sorry for the inconvenience." She said warmly and leaned into him. "So...how much stuff should I bring to the room? There isn't going to enough room for your stuff and all my stuff, my current room barely has enough space for my stuff."
