If Dúthracht ended up being what the stats were in the simulation, Cat would be a tremendous force on the battlefield. She flew to her new position and while still in flight, she gave the Catapult a headshot, effecitvly destroing it. The ejector seat activated, launching the simulated pilot through the air,... into a pond. Needless to say, no one would climb out.

Richard, on the other hand, was not as graceful as Cat, the many jumps did not help his aim and none of his shots managed to hit the spider, even his frustrated kick against the tank in front of him missed. Whether this was due to J.Edgar's SRM's knocking him off course or not remains to be seen.

Little by little, the opposition was put down. The two were not locked up here with the enemies, the enemies were locked up here with them.



The Highlander, on the other hand, did not see fit to leave his position, and the Spider came to support him, meanwhile the tanks gathered in the south to concentrate their force.

"Hiding like a mouse won't help you, when Hellcat is one the prowl." Catherine laughs and jumps to a more distant shooting position. Her Dúthracht has been designed with versatility in mind, to make optimal use of its mobility and it can operate at quite a lot of ranges.

"Kid. Walk on top of that Hovertank and face North. Close range alpha at the Scorpion. Melee at will."

She takes aim at the Highlander with her long range weaponry. "I'll have a shootout with the big guy. This distance is in my favour."

Unfortunately, Cat found that the Highlander was tougher than she realized, only one of her attacks seemed to get through the Highlander's thick armor to harm him. Her plan to build up as much distance as possible was good, after all the Highlander was only able to fire his LRM's at her, some of which hit Dúthracht. An indicator in her pod flashed, telling her that the armor on her right arm was wearing off, it wouldn't last much longer.

On the other side, Richard was busy cooking J. Edgar. There was not much left of the tank after the Alpha Strike. And a good kick against the other tank made it take some space first. The Scorpion also wanted to leave, but was not able to leave its position, but the driver was too panic and crashed the Scorpion against the building.




Meanwhile, the spider tried to cover the back of the forward-marching Highlander, and one of the tanks barely even came to support it.

"Report, one less tank Hellcat, how's it going with the Highlander?" asked Richard.

"That thing has a lot of armour to laser through." Catherine answers him. "I drew him out though and he is exposed now. Let's pincer the guy."

A quick tap marks a landing point on the map for Richard. Exactly the spot, where the Highlander had been hiding just a few seconds ago.

"I'll get in close for a better shot. Hellcat pounce! Meow!"

Hellcat struck, the PPC her LL and the MI hit the Highlander, but Cat also had a price to pay.
An AC/20 hit her CT. Her pod shook and for a moment it looked like the Wolverine was going to topple, but Cat just about pulled the mech up again. Meanwhile, Richad's maneuver caused the Highlander to walk further out of the city and put his back against the nearest wall.



The tanks started swarming around Richard and the spider looked like it was going to flank.

"The Highlander ate quite a bit, how are you doing the AC/20 hit looked pretty nasty".

Catherine is quite surprised when the Highlander manages to connect its AC-20 shot. That is not good. At least it hit the most heavily armoured part of her Mech.

"Whoah! That was scary. I got hit in the only location on Dúthracht that can take that kind of shot."

"Kid. I'll send you after the spider again. Try and make the best of it. Go punch it out." She sets the marker on their map.

Firing her own jump jets she radios in mid air. "I'll keep my fire on the Highlander up."

Cat flew through the air and gave the Highlander hard, all her aimed shots did damage and her fokus on the Highlander's left torso made him stagger!

But even when Cat pulled off her cool maneuver, she was shaken again. The pod moved sharply to the right once as the AC/20 shot connected with her left arm. Her armor indicator flashed red and the feedback showed her that her left arm was barely holding together by a few loose strands, at least it was the arm that had no weapons.
The impact, of course, made Cat's landing a bit rough and she stumbled forward a few steps before she could stabilize the mech.

Meanwhile, Richard cut through the spider and damaged a myriad of systems that caused the mech to fall. After it's fall, he stomped the spider and with a loud crunch the cockpit and pilot were compressed. Too bad for the pilot that the spider had no ejection seat.




With the death of the spider, the AI began to play even more defensively and focused its forces back into the city.

"The spider is history Hellcat, what is your status?" asked Richard who had not seen Cat get shot again.

"Ack!" Catherine lets out a surprised sound, when her Left Arm is very nearly ripped off.

"I got another AC-20 hit." She answers his question. "This guy keeps landing those long range shots. I have to stay out of range. I'm running a bit hot too."

Richard would see it on their shared battle data, if he checked.

"Good job on Spidey! I'll send you after the tanks now. It's time to get rid of them. Jump right there and unload on the other Edgar. Then melee at will."

"I'll keep it up on the Highlander. Let's see if I am a good enough shot in the end."

Cat managed to outmaneuver the Highlander so that he was not able to do much, unfortunately Cat's efforts to hit the Highlander were not successful and so the two opponents could not stand up to each other.

Richard had a swap of blows with J. Edgar, who in turn gave Richard some SRMs and damaged the Extermintaor.



As Cat was trying to keep a distance, the Highlander decided to go after the next best prey and aligned himself with Richard. The tanks covered the streets and tried to lure the mech into the trap.

"The J. Edgar is tougher than he looks, hit him with some lasers , but he's still standing and it looks like they're trying to surround me, what are your orders?" asked Richard.

[Catherine Maia Hayes]

"Okay Kid. Watch out. The big guy is now after you." Catherine does not seem to be too concerned though. And her next set of orders pulls Richard out of harms way.

"Jump into that patch of trees and give the Scorpion some love. Hold back one ML to keep your heat low. Its just a small fry."

"I'll go and see if I can scrape some more armour off of the big guy."

Cat still had the range advantage and besides watching her attack him, the Highlander didn't have much to do, but even if the tactics were good, Cat didn't hit like she was supposed to.

Richard, on the other hand, did as he was told and turned the Scorpion into small wood for the time being. Not much was left of the initial superiority



The defenders continued to retreat.
"It looks like we have the upper hand Cat," Richard announced.

[Catherine Maia Hayes]

"Looks like it. I have no idea how I managed to scare off a Simbot in a Highlander, but here we are." Catherine laughs. "Even if I took an unexpected beating in return."

"Now, let's see." She studies the map for a moment and spots another exposed tank for Richard to pick off. One quick tap marks jump spot and target.

"Okay Kid. Jump there and laser some holes into that Edgar, but keep that building between you and the big guy."

Her own options are less opportunity laden, but she will just have to keep trying.

"I'll see what I can do from way out here."

Cat's options were limited, but they were sufficient.
She fired her PPC, no effective action, she fired the first Large Laser, no effective action, she fired the second Large Laser,...... and KABOOM!

It must have hit an ammunition chamber and as a consequence the Highlander gradually went up in flames. Richard also lit up the tank in front of him with his lasers, but that was no comparison to the spectacle that was exactly one block away from him.



There wasn't much left for Richard and Cat to do except clean up the rest of the opposition.

"Holy crap, Hellcat, you hit the needle in the haystack! Very good!" exclaimed Richard enthusiastically.

"Whee! Finally!" Hellcat cheers, when the Highlander goes down. It is a spectacular explosion, but to her surprise the remains looks actually salvageable. In need of a hell of a lot of repairs, but not a total wreck.

"And that's why I don't like to carry ammo!" She answers Richard.

"Let's mop up quick, Kid. Jump and block that Edgar near you from escaping. I'll try and cut off the other one."

The young Mechwarrior jumps straight north, to make sure she can stay ahead of the other hovertank.

The fight was about to end.

"Well, munitions explosions are quite scary" Richard admitted and cut off the tank's path, firing and kicking it. His medium lasers must have hit something sensitive, as smoke rose and the tank simply stopped. The virtual crew then left the siting duck.

Something similar happened to Cat, who did heavy damage to the tank in the north with her PPC and LL, which immobilized the tank and the crew decided to live instead of die.

With that done, a "Victory" was displayed on both pods and a victory tune played. The robot voice said "Congratulations MechWarrior" a statistic popped up listing the eventual salvage, as well as the damage dealt.

At the same time, the pods opened with a hiss.

Richard scrambled out of it, sweaty, and wiped his brow "Phew" he said, "That was some fight".

"Gah!" Catherine immediately deactivated the victory tune, before the robot voice could haunt her. She quickly studies the statistics for a moment.

"Huuuuu~" She breathes out deeply with a hum, now that it is all over. Her pod had been running quite steamy for much of this fight. Even with fifteen double heat sinks to work with, Hellcat runs her machine hot. She saves the results for later in depth study and climbs out of her simulation pod.

The redhead is soaked in sweat, much of her hair plastered to face and neck. She is happily exhausted now and shoots Richard a grin. "That was fun! I hope you had fun too, Richard. The Exterminator is a really solid machine. We put up a good fight together."

"I still can't believe the two of us pulled this off." he walked over to the fridge that had some drinks for the MechWarriors and pulled out two.

"The Exterminator is definitely super fun when I think I would normally be fried if I fired 6ML's otherwise" he laughed, "It's just wonderful to do so much damage."

[Catherine Maia Hayes]

"It's a really good Battlemech and I'm glad you got it." Catherine gives him a bright smile. "Your jumping needs a bit of training and your shooting does too, but you are already a presence to be really wary of. You showed that just now. But with the Exterminator you can be a relentless hunter on the battlefield. Highly manoeuvrable and ready to exploit any mistake our opponents make."
