Richard quieted down as the tension in the room increased noticeably.
"Captain?" asked Eva uncertainly while Hannegan and the proffesor exchanged glances. Eva walked slowly toward the door, whose knock was almost hypnotic, but Hannegan pulled Eva back and snorted at her, "What are you thinking? Are you even listening?" the old sea dog reached behind his back and pulled out an Old Revovler.

"What are you up to?!" squealed Eva at the sight of the weapon.
"Hannegan, we don't know what we're dealing with!" he shouted at Proffesor, and Hannegan simply replied, "If it bleeds, it can die."

Slowly the old sea dog went to the shaking door and suddenly opened it with a quick jerk, holding his revolver in the opening,....

Revealing...nothing...a pause. Then the old sailor looks up. And a loud music sting plays as a horrid amalgamation of men and teeth that had scuttled up onto the roof roars down at him
Yori's grip on Richard tightens momentarily at the jump scare

"Mother of god."
The creature pounces down but the old man is too quick, diving to the side and firing his weapon. Inside the room the professor starts screaming while Eva grabs her own weapon, a trusty taser and launches herself at the creature. It bats her aside with one clawed tendril, cutting a gash across her shoulder.

But that's all the opening the sea dog needs as he puts his gun to the back of one of the thing's heads and pulls the trigger. There's a suitably gory shot and the creature roars in agony before jumping up and scuttling off with terrifying, inhuman speed.

Richard held Yori tightly for the moment, and although he knew the scene, he also flinched a bit....
As if the shot had broken the rampart of a dam, a mixture of screams and the sound of weapons being fired now came from all over the ship.
The Old Sea Bear reacted quickly, "Eva, are you all right?!" he asked and hurried over to her while slamming the door behind him. "Yes, it just burns a little" Eva replied, holding her shoulder with one hand, the wound was not deep, but blood was coming out of it. Meanwhile the Proffesor sat distraught in his corner again, Hannegan snapped at him, "What the hell is that Proffesor?! PROFESSOR!"

The latter just looked in shock at the two and babbled "The,...reports,.... fast growing organism,... who could have guessed,... why is it intelligent?"

Hannegan just shook his head, "No matter what, we have to get out of here!"

Yori releases her grip long enough to swig some beer.
Eva, still grasping her wound.
"The armoury on deck 3, it's our only choice."
Hannegan wants to argue
"But that's 4 decks down, we'll never make it."
"We'll never make it here!"
The professor shakily nods.
"There are weapons down there that could destroy that..that thing. Maybe."

As the sound of screaming intensifies from outside the 3 move together through corridors dimly illuminated by partially dislodged swinging lights and the blood of the less fortunate. At one point the three huddle behind a fallen shelf as another huge deformed creature hunts them, only to be distracted b a commotion further down the hall.

Richard relaxed a bit again, drank some beer and subconsciously stroked Yori to calm down.
The three of them continued to fight their way through the ship, with each encounter the professor seemed to lose more and more hope, while Hannegan's paranoia increased. Eva, on the other hand, remained tough. At one point they were stalked by one of the creatures, which was accompanied by an excellent sound job and camerawork that gave the viewer a sense of being watched. The tension kept rising until it exploded in a wild chase in which the three protagonists were able to temporarily outrun the creature in an elevator. Panting, the three stood or sat in the elevator, the button for deck 3 flashing as the elevator began its long ride.

The camera zoomed out of the elevator and panned through the ship. Shadows were shown of people caught by the camera, people barricading themselves in their rooms, and others fleeing. The camera briefly zoomed into the navigation deck where a young man, about Eva's age, was staring at a star chart, the star Eden was within reach, just one jump away,....

Yori certainly doesn't seem to mind, even if she doesn't give much outward sign of anything.
The young man's hand hovers over the button when a stern voice from behind barks out an order.
"No need for that Thomas. The situation is quite under control."
The ensign turns to see the stern face of the ships captain, Alexei Yankov.
"But sir, if we suffer any catastrophic systems da-"
"Are you countermanding your captain, son?"
"Sir no sir."
"Then follow my orders."
As Thomas turns away the captain's face begins to shift...every so slightly.

Meanwhile on deck 3 the elevator opens to reveal an empty corridor and at the end of it, blinking red lights displaying 'Armoury'....

Richard watched intently and held his breath as the music announced the next scene.
The camera focused on the group standing in the elevator and zoomed out, making the hallway seem unnaturally long before returning to normal.

"Once we're inside, we're going to grab as many weapons as we can and blast the hell out of anything that's acting weird," Hannegan said sharply, propelling the group forward, his revolver at the ready. "But we don't even know if it's just one or more" Eva interjected worriedly, "When in doubt, you might hurt or kill someone innocent!". An expression of worry spread through her, she had never seen the Old Sea Bear like this before.
"Eva, we must think of our survival first, do you understand? I promised your mom!" he snapped at her, she looked slightly sad, "Yes, but still,..."

Professor Pietro, who seemed very introverted, spoke in a thin voice, "The stem cell sample we received mutated after initial contact with animal cells and multiplied rapidly, the exploration team had left it in orbit on a leopard for testing. It would have been a good solution for the production of meat to meet the demand and avert an impending famine,..." he slapped his hands over his head and thought back to the report, "One of the guards there was brought back to the Ark because of severe stomach pains, what nobody knew was that this damned guard had eaten some of the meat,... By the time I got to the infirmary it was too late..." The proffesor talked while the group was getting closer to the door, "If we could isolate the cells and create a weapon..." he babbled.

It seemed they would make it to the chamber unharmed, but something seemed to be stirring in the ventilation shaft above them.

"Professor, what are you saying?"
"I'm saying with the right tools I could create a vaccine, why it would be so si-"
The ventilation above him implodes as a huge tithe of writhing flesh and teeth slams into the professor, consuming him with some very impressive and gory effects as his two companions fire their assault rifles at the creature to little effect.
"Professor, noooooo!" Eva's actress really hams it up as she's dragged away, still firing.
"Forget about him, now we got the weapons we have to make it to the bridge. The ship's lost!"

Even as they flee the camera cuts back to the thing in the armory rocking back and roaring.

A long action sequence played out with Eva and Hannegan fighting their way through the ship towards the bridge, one scene was particularly terrifying as one of the creatures disguised itself as a child and nearly killed Eva if Hannegan's paranoia hadn't kicked in.

The two arrived near the bridge, tired and slightly injured, when suddenly a jolt went through the ship.

"ATTENTION, JUMPING AHEAD, ATTENTION!" a warning message was transmitted through the ship's loudspeakers, and an injured Thomas virtually ran into the group. He was holding a pistol and was covered in cuts.

Hannegan, immediately held him at gun point.

Yori cocks her head: "Dramatic"
Eva pushes his gun down.
"Thomas? My god, what happened?"
"Oh Eva it's the captain, he was...he was that thing! I caught his face changing when he didn't realise. He lunged at me but I just managed to shoot it and get away."
Hannegan's gun doesn't waver: "A likely story."
Eva: "I know Thomas!"
Hannegan: "Do yah. Then ask him something only Thomas would know."

There's a tense pause.
Eva: "What colour was grandmother's boat shed?"
Thomas, without hesitation: "Green"
A half second pause and then Eva fires, hitting him square in the forehead and rocking his whole body back.
"Grandmother hated boats."

The Thomas creatures starts screaming, its flesh flowing horrible as the two run past, heading for the bridge.
Hannegan: "We have to stop that jump!"

"A hopeless battle," Richard agreed, knowing that the end would come soon and surprisingly.
Hannegan and Eva burst through the door of the bridge and stared at the horror that loomed before them. A formless mass had filled the bridge and they could only roughly make out the route shown on the hologram of the star chart. To both of their terror, the course was no longer set to Eden, but to Terra!

There was not much time to react before the masses attacked. "We have no choice but to overload the fusion reactors!" screamed Eva while Hannegan fought the thing. She slithered over to the captain's main console and raked at the keys.
The camera was focused on Eva's face as she feverishly typed commands into the mainframe until suddenly the hair-piercing sound of a blade in flesh filled the room.

One of the thing's tentacles pierced,...... Hannegan! It would have actually gotten Eva if he hadn't thrown himself in front of her to save her.

"NOOOOOOOOOO" she screamed, just about done sending off the commands. Before Eva could say anything, Hannegan grabbed her and threw her out the door with almost supernatural strength, the last thing Eva could hear was "Hangar,...., ship,..... survive,...." before the door locked again with a hiss.

Eva beats angrily against the door before the ship rolls violently to the side flinging her against the wall. With a pained grunt she clears her head before starting along the now treacherous shaking corridor to the hanger.

For a moment the director employs a montage, zooming out and slowing down the action to show scenes all over the ship. Fires, panic, the void of space and worse, hundreds of those...things. Then it all zooms back in on Eva and speeds up as she staggers into the hanger. One battered shuttle ahead of her.

The young woman makes her way to it as the boarding ramp lowers with a his before from behind her.

"EEEEEVVVVVVVA!"
She whirls around to see a horribly distorted copy of Hannegan with a scythe for an arm and a seemingly melted face roaring at her from the hanger entrance....

"No!" she cried, devastated, tears on her cheeks. What was the point of all this anymore? She was millions of light years away from home and the goal was lost so close to being reached.
The film cross-faded the scene with clips from the past weeks that the people on the ship had spent together, the good, the bad, the normal.

Eva ran to the hangar locks, there was only one way this was going to end, she just had to buy time. The Hannegan thing gave chase and the two engaged in a final showdown. She ran from terminal to terminal, quickly typing something into the consoles and slowly the room filled with the things until they reached critical mass. Little by little Eva was cornered, there was no real chance against the fleshy mass, but her will was unbroken. She sent a final command into the console and the hangar sealed itself off.

"Burn in the fires of a fusion explosion," she said gloatingly as the thing devoured her.

The camera moved outward and it became profoundly silent until the massive ark exploded from within and went down in a storm of flames.

Then it went silent again and the film made a fade. One saw Hannegan, Eva, Thomas and the professor how they just hit the ark. Hannegan woke Eva with the words, "What's the matter, bad dream?"

The camera moved back to Eva, who had a few tears running down her cheeks and was looking in horror at one of her hands with a shallow, barely visible scar on it.

Then the credits rolled
Richard, who by now had finished his second beer, looked at Yori expectantly, "Well, what do you think?"

Yori is quiet for a few moments, staring intently at the credits.
"I...very much enjoyed that, I could feel my body becoming more tense as the vid went on, and the ending is a classic. I am sure I have seen other movies rip it off."
Turning to Richard and smiling slightly
"It was a good pick, 7/10."
