Breakfast of Champions (D9 EM Cafeteria Expecting)

[John Slaktare]

"I ain't really good at gauging that," he admits.

"Probably Steffen. I get along with folks but I don't usually go out of my way to spend time with em. And not a whole lot of folks trying to spend time with me. Probably because I'm mostly eating, sleeping, or working. And spending time with you now too."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"So how do you feel about Yori and Richard? I only ask because they went on a first date recently and if they end up working out I think a double date could be a good time. But going to clubs and double dates is all stuff I want to do, what do you want to do? And don't say whatever I want to do." she said smiling.

[John Slaktare]

"Don't know Richard very well, only chatted a little. I get along well with Yori. Double dates and whatever is fine. Not something I would organize but I will come along. And what I want is pretty simple. Spending time with you, just like this or at night or anything else. I'd be good with lying in bed watching terrible shows... if it's with you. But I don't actually like watching shows. News and fights mostly."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Well hopefully we can all get to know each other better, I'm still getting to know Yori but she's a hoot and I am glad they found each other, I hope their breakfast date went well."

[John Slaktare]

"Good for them. Hope it goes well."

He drinks a bit of water as he thinks.

"Tell me a bit about Richard? You've known him for a while."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Yeah sure what do you want to know?"

She finally begins to eat her breakfast.

"I can tell you eats fruit weird." She said with a mouth full of banana. "He eats kiwis with the skin on."

[John Slaktare]

"Well... surprise I guess?" Butcher replies, biting into the core of the apple.

"I don't like wasting perfectly good fruit. Maybe tell me something that kinda says what kind of person he is?"

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"He worries a lot." She said taking a bit of her oatmeal. "He worries about other people, if he is fit to be in command of the Scout company....Kelenfold. When he is really worried he smokes and that's the only time he smokes so if you ever see him smoking you can rest assured he is stressed about something."

[John Slaktare]

Butcher nods at that. "He seems like a pretty serious guy from my few meetings. I imagine it's nice having other Starlit Knights around."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Well he isn't that serious but he can be weirdly serious. He's BIG into comic books and stuff like that which is where the connection with Yori started I gather. He can talk forever about that stuff and can get pretty animated at times but can also be deeply philosophical about it at time too. His room is practically a library if you ever have an interest in that stuff.

I keep saying "that stuff" like I mock or hate it but I don't, just don't understand a lot of it."

[John Slaktare]

"I ain't really one for reading for fun. I get enough reading from work stuff. After work I'd rather be doing something physical and active. But you ain't so different from me in that with the drumming and knitting."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Among other physical activities yeah. I've tried knitting while drumming, doesn't work. I've tried knitting with my feet, doesn't work. I HAVEN'T tried knitting while fighting in my mech and I wont. BUT if I ever get a chance to skydive I will totally bring stuff with me to try and knit while falling at terminal velocity. Are you much of thrill seeker, anything on your bucket list?"

[John Slaktare]

"I wouldn't shy from that kinda stuff, but I get a good amount of adrenaline during fights so I usually don't do other stuff. But I would do any of those extreme activities if they were available. What different kinds of thrills do you go after?"

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"None of them yet, I don't really seek it out but I have thought about it many many times. I should probably start with the more mundane stuff like learning to drive a car and work my way up to skydiving. A couple of people have tired to get me to go scuba diving over the years but I don't trust oceans."

[John Slaktare]

"You don't trust oceans? What's wrong with oceans? I mean, I only been to a few beaches in my life but they were okay. And I guess I would like trying rock climbing."

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"OK so land , sea and air right? We can't fly but there isn't anything dangerous there so lets ignore it. What we can do is swim but we are really bad at it compared to the things that live in the ocean. Things that can sense you before you can see them, things that faster than you, bigger than you, tougher than you and can't be reasoned with. You can't wear armor when you swim and unlike when you are attacked by a bear or wolf or falcon you can't carry defend yourself with a gun when a shark or whale or giant squid attacks you. I will swim in a pool or lake or small river no problems but beaches are for tanning and that's about it."

[John Slaktare]

John nods along with the explanation. "It's definitely not something I think or worry about. I may not be afraid of the water, but I'd definitely avoid it if I had you laying there, needing help with sunblock or lotion. Better things to do than swim at that point."

He continues chomping through the apple, core and all.

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"The core?" She said sounding baffled watching him eat the apple. "I think you and Richard are going to be good friends. Anyway, people tell me its an irrational fear but it just seems like common sense to me. What about you, any "fears"?"

[John Slaktare]

"Only what we already talked about. Well, I guess getting stabbed in a crowd too. But that's because it's happened before. And yeah, why waste a quarter of an apple?"

[Mei-Ling Zhou]

"Because it has a weird texture and is full of seeds but forget that you've been randomly stabbed in a crowd?"
