Day 8, EA, Mech Bay - Where There's Smoke...

[Yoko Lee]

That got a smirk, "From experience, even yakuza like that kind of thing. Fancy is fancy across space I think, even if you replace the whiskey with a sake or wine, depending on where you go. I can't say I'm not partial to that sort of thing myself."

She decided to press things a little more from earlier, "What about your partner, as it were? Think they'd enjoy a fancy cigar and a highball?"

[Richard Winter]

Richard laughed "Classy stays Classy, huh?" he took a drag on his cigarette. "I honestly don't know, but since she's also from the Combine maybe she can be talked into a sake." he said and grinned, the guessing game had begun.

[Yoko Lee]

She ran through who she knew from the Combine in her head: Ezmeralda, Iori, that Kawabe fellow who looked like a Yakuza, Tanaki... no, he'd said she, so not those last two. Oh, and there was that Samara woman who also spoke Japanese, so maybe...

"Talked into? I suppose it's not for everyone. And I thought almost everyone liked a good highball. But maybe I just come from that sort of background, working in casinos and stri... well, bars and such. I suppose most of it would depend on what we could get, hm? This being a warzone and all. Not that I'm sure soldiers like you, possibly your date as well if she's one, are used to making due, no?"

[Richard Winter]

"I guess if it's a sake, she's not going to say no. Although I still have to find out if she'd drink it for pleasure or duty,...." he mused, "but she'd definitely be into it. the only question is whether we'll find a place here that has sake, passable sake that is."

[Yoko Lee]

"Exactly."

One long draw of her cig, then she let out the smoke with a sigh.

"What I wouldn't give for a nice crab dinner with some hot sake, being served by pretty women in yukata that are one or two sizes too small for them right now..."

She turned to look at Richard, "Well, keep me informed at least yeah? With how things are going? I'm a relentless gossip, but kami only know I can keep a secret if needed."

[Richard Winter]

Richard laughed. "I'm just teasing you Yoko. I'm going out with Yori. But I wouldn't mind a dinner like you suggested either. Would be something different from always eating cafeteria food.... as long as it's not too spicy."

[Yoko Lee]

That got a few blinks, a pull of the cig which was on its last leg, then put it out with a few more blinks.

"You mean miss, 'A relationship could be most emotionally stimulating, I shall add it to my schedule.'? That Yori?"

[Richard Winter]

He laughed. "Yep," he also took a drag on his cigarette "Once you get to know her a little, you understand her better believe me. She just does things,... differently than others"

[Yoko Lee]

Yoko made sure the cig was out before picking it up and wrapping it up in a bit of a plastic wrapper.

"Don't get me wrong, not saying she's a bad person or anything. Just unexpected is all. Certainly wouldn't have been my first or second guess when you said someone from the Combine."

[Richard Winter]

"Honestly, I was surprised too, she approached me first" he said, also finishing his cigarette.

[Yoko Lee]

"Approa... wha? You're not teasing me, are you? How did THAT go?"

She turned around to lean back against the railing, eyeing Richard half unbelievingly.

[Richard Winter]

"Well, she came over one night and wanted to talk to me about the manga I'd lent her, but we kind of drifted off and then had a talk about the upcoming battle."

He packed his cigarette butt into his cigarette pack.
"I don't know how much you know about the mechs, but the Crusader, as strong as it is, can explode pretty easily if you hit the ammo dumps,.... so I made her a good luck charm."

He laughed. "After that, in typical Yori fashion, she gave me a questionnaire about preferences and such, which is probably her way of saying she's interested." A grin spread across his face, "And yesterday during patrol we decided to go on a date." He scratched the back of his head and had a slight blush on his face.

[Yoko Lee]

"Ah, a questionnaire. That makes some sense, I suppose. Gets the point across but in her own way. Interesting. Well, I can't say she has bad tastes, same for you. You know, some time I'll have to pay you back for all this stuff you keep lending me... Oh, and I was kidding about the shower; The individual ones ARE nicer than the barrack ones, but not so much so that I'd be bumming one from you. For now, think I'll get going. I haven't changed since my sparring this morning, so I'll probably take a shower and change here."

[Richard Winter]

He grinned, "Too bad, but well I guess I'll see you around Yoko, maybe we can look for some good sake in the new town."

[Yoko Lee]

Yoko nodded and gave a small salute before walking off to go get into something more clean and fresh.
