Squeezing Off A Few Rounds (D4 LA Expecting Range)

"Prolly more important with a needle than a normal round. Ain't no rifling so its probably best if its smooth as possible," he says with a shrug.

He takes a small applicator and uses it to oil the few moving parts. Then he takes his time putting it back together in reverse order, careful with each step.

"Oh, I suppose you're right. Never thought about it much since I usually only use it at such a short range, but if I were to need to fire it further, it'd prolly be really important."

[John Slaktare]

He nods at that, giving it a last inspection. "Few practice shots then? I'll fire a few just to make sure I didn't mess anything up, but I'm confident. Then you can brush off the dust from the trip here?"

[Yoko Lee]

A slight chuckle, "I mean, don't look at me; I knew nothing about the inner workings of the gun before you took it apart and got the manual in my hands here. As to testing it out... care to join me? I'd only be using a short range, these mini-needlers aren't much good for shooting down a full target range, and I'm not sure even cleaning it would do much for that."

Butcher nods and cleans up the tools, putting them and the manual away. He then leads her out of the armory and back onto the range.

He offers to take the first shot with the weapon so that if it exploded or backfires after the maintenance, he doesn't maim someone else.

Yoko takes Butcher up on the offer; The gun really is compact but heavy for it's size, so it has a good weight and feel to it despite how it sits in the hand.



Having been cleaned out, the ammo remelts quickly into the semi liquid state in the chamber, waited to be formed into the needles the gun shoots and is named after.

He steps up to the post with the small needler and declares himself.

"Firing."

Butcher raises the pistol and takes aim. He fires three shots at the target, two of which hit in completely different zones and one missing. But it didn't destroy his hand so that was good.

"Clear."

He steps back and hands the weapon safely to Yoko. "Didn't lose my hand. Good sign," he jokes with a deadpan expression.

Yoko smirked and took her gun back from him, "That wouldn't have been a good way to start your first day in the position, I'll freely admit that."

She looked at his shots at the twenty foot target, tilting her head a little, "It does look like it's a little misaligned though. Maybe it needs to be realigned after being put back together like that then?"

[John Slaktare]

"Nah, I'm sure it'll be fine for you. Because I hit the target, you'll likely do better. I ain't an expert. Know just enough to point it in the right direction and probably kill what I'm shooting at if I empty a clip," he replies.

"Give it a go."

[Yoko Lee]

"I suppose there's a massive difference between shooting a mech's cannon and such than shooting a little pistol like this."

Feeling the weight of the pistol Yoko snapped off three aimed shots; The first and third hit the center ring, but the middle shot hit an outer edge.

"...hm, you're right. And even if it's been a bit, I can say it feels a bit more balanced and smooth to fire."

Butcher nods in appreciation of the shots. "Yeah, you definitely got a better technique than me. Gonna be practicing a lot in here. Need to get use to the larger weapons too. Don't do to have a gunnery sergeant that don't use guns very well, so I gotta fix it."

Switching off the heater, and thus the trigger, Yoko turned around and slipped her pistol back into its holster, "I mean, no one can know everything. I'd love to learn more self defense techniques or such like how to handle machine guns and rifles, or hand to hand combat. Not that I want to be a soldier, but I never want to have the be 'rescued' like some damsel in distress. That would be just too much."

"I can show you how to throw a punch or break a wrist. That's very doable," he offers. "And the whole damsel in distress thing is bullshit. Everyone needs a hand once in a while, sometimes to stay alive. You're only a damsel in distress if you choose that. And you should break anyone's nose if they try treating you that way."

He moves to the other post and pulls the holstered pistol he put together earlier. He pulls the magazine, to check it's empty, then double checks the chamber is empty. He starts practicing his draw then.

"You make it seem so easy; Just break their nose and damn the consequences. Like they'll just leave themselves open and not have a way to twist the field in their favor. I guess that's why I always went for guns; Bringing fists to a gun fight is usually not the best idea, and I find a pistol levels a lot of playing fields."

[John Slaktare]

"Guess I'm just picturing the person that thinks that damsels always need saving. Prolly ain't expecting a swing on their nose," Butcher says.

He continues his draw practice.

"My personal weapon is a revolver. Good to have it if things go bad. But sometimes you just wanna teach a lesson rather than make a hole."

[Yoko Lee]

"I get that. You'd think I would have learned that in the past certainly. But sometimes you don't want to cause a ruckus... I certainly didn't back then. Not sure about now."

[John Slaktare]

"How bout a trade. Show me proper form in here, I'll teach you to break a nose," he suggests.

[Yoko Lee]

A small smirk as Yoko looked up from the manual, closing it; It was kind of boring reading anyways, and it didn't feel like the time for it. "I'll help how I can, but does it need to be breaking noses specifically? I've always been more fond of the term, 'twisting someone's arm'. Or is that just a euphemism?"

[John Slaktare]

"Yeah, sure thing. I practice wrestling and boxing. Got some good arm control techniques in wrestling," he says with a nod.

[Yoko Lee]

"See? Sounds much better. The wrestling part, not the boxing. Less likely to break a nail that way I'd think."
