(D9-EM-Gym) Self Defense

[Tanaki]

Tanaki is doing his morning stretches as he waits for his expected morning work out buddy. He is in a basic Gi and going through a few quick unarmed katas to work the sleep out of his eyes.

[GM Yuusha]

Annalena arrives on time. She looks awake and energetic. Her father? Less so. Eric enters the gym and looks around. He lifts his hand in greeting to Tanaki. Man needed some coffee.

His daughter runs over to Tanaki and performs a jumping uppercut into the air. Yes, just like from one of those computer games. Effective? Probably not, especially from a nine year old. Visually striking? Absolutely!

"Show roo ken!"

Anna lands and turns back to face Tanaki with a big grin. She was clearly very, very excited. She was wearing a gym uniform, so that was good, and trainers.

[Tanaki]

Tanaki nodded toward the Major as he entered and them smiled wide seeing Anna's enthusiasm, greeting her with a bow,

"Good morning Corporal, I hope you slept well. "

[GM Yuusha]

"Yeaaah!" She is all smiles as she answers. She sort of dips her head to him, very vaguely copying the mannerism, so she perhaps had a little idea about it. Not enough to do it properly however.

[Eric Voelker]

"Good morning. Can I leave my daughter in your care for an hour? I need to get some coffee in me and go over the final attack plans. Someone will definitely be along to pick her up after that." Eric states slightly apologetically as he walked over.

[Tanaki]

He smiles at the Major, "Yes sir, I got her. She should be no trouble, and I will do my best to tire her out before passing her on."

[Eric Voelker]

That has Eric chuckling. Tanaki had read his mind. "That'd be good. She has some studying to do. Alright, just remember she is a complete beginner. I'd like her back in one piece - and you too. Don't let her kick your, err, you know."

He walks over to Anna to ruffle her hair. This earns him a pout from the little girl. "Take care darling. Don't be too rough now and pay attention."

Leaving them in the gym, he's soon off on his way.

/ Exit

[GM Yuusha]

"Dad always treats me like a baby. I'm nearly ten!" She is still pouting even with him gone.

[Tanaki]

"He is letting you learn how to defend yourself, is that something he would do to a baby?"

[GM Yuusha]

This catches her off guard. She visibly considers it and... no retort is forthcoming. Instead she makes a grumbling noise at having been bested.

This time.

She waits expectantly after that.

[Tanaki]

He smiles and claps his hands, "Ok, step one, you need to learn how to stand. You have a super power here, because the lower your center of gravity the easier it is to fulcrum your mass into an advantage. " He waves to her, "show me how you stand if you are expecting trouble."

[GM Yuusha]

"I have a super power?!" She gets all excited. Err, even more excited. She looks absolutely full of energy. "Fulcrum?" She doesn't get the term. "Fulcrum mass attack...?" Anna suggests, thinking that was the name of some cool Drac attack.

She lowers her centre of gravity, but its more to do with her spreading her feet apart and lifting her arms than any real understanding of what Tanaki had just said.

[Tanaki]

"Good, good" He nods, "Now bring your legs in a little, so that they are wider then your hips but not as wide as your shoulders. Put your left one back just a little, and turn you toes away from each other slightly like this" He shows her the way to stand, his own arms up in defensive position. "and I want you to rock a little, practice putting your weight on your back foot, then your front, then your back again."

[GM Yuusha]

The describing wasn't doing much, but the demonstration helps. She tries to copy his stance. "Okay..." She rocked forward and back while giving him a questioning look. She didn't get it.

[Tanaki]

He checks her legs and corrects them slightly walking around her, "now from this position, by changing your weight from one foot to the other you can easily torso twist to bring multiple threat vectors into your field of view. "

[GM Yuusha]

"Wait! So, I'm a mech now?" She turns left and right robotically. "Do I get a gun too?"

[Tanaki]

"Your already carrying at least a half dozen weapons" He lets her rotate for a few moments, "Can you tell me what a Hard Point on a mech is?"

[GM Yuusha]

"Erm, somewhere you can mount a weapon?" She wore a confused look. She definitely didn't have any guns. Not even a BB gun. It was a travesty she wasn't allowed a BB gun.

[Tanaki]

"Your body also has hard points, weapons. Not all weapons are guns, there are also knives, and clubs." He hmmms, "If you wanted to hurt me, how would you do it, what part of your body would you use." He drops to the same stance her showed her, "Do it"

[GM Yuusha]

"Erm... erm..." She steps forward and tries to punch Tanaki's torso. Slowly.
