Feeling the Burn (D5 EA Gym)

Butcher was working shoulders and back in the gym, currently doing some dumbbell pullovers. It was outside his normal gym hours because of the patrol, so he didn't have anyone around, just working by himself.

[Gianna Rains]

A blue-haired Canopian strides into the gym, walking with purpose toward a large punching bag. Gianna grins that the bag is available, flexing her hands in her kickboxing gloves.

There's a small hesitation in front of the bag, like she's ready to start wailing on the thing but she thinks better and backs off a moment to do some stretching first. She nods almost imperceptibly to Butcher, as though barely registering that he's there, and even as she stretches her shoulders and hips, it seems like she's looking daggers at that innocent bag.

John returns the small nod as he finishes up his set. He wipes down the dumbbell and bench, putting the weight away. He takes a short water break and takes a moment to observe Gianna's form. He didn't see her doing combat drills often, so he mostly just wants to make sure she isn't going to injure herself.

[Gianna Rains]

Gianna's focused on the bag, but not so focused that she doesn't sense and then confirm that Butcher is keeping an eye on her.

"Vidphone pic will last longer," she calls, slightly huffy. A few moments later, another hip stretch finished, she stops and turns to face him. "Sorry, I didn't mean..." She's clearly frustrated about something and acting unsettled.

He shakes his head and puts a hand up in apology.

"No, sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable. Was just observing your form. Seems unfocused, and I don't want you to hurt yourself," Butcher replies.

[Gianna Rains]

Gianna closes her eyes and slumps a little.

"Unfocused? Yeah, no kidding," she agrees grudgingly. "I'm trying to focus on expending some frustration on this bag, but it seems I'm frustrated enough I can't even hit things properly?" The sentiment comes out as a mix of self-deprecation, truth and genuine question: despite the kickboxing gloves, she's clearly no trained fighter.

"Like this," he says moving near to her and taking a boxing stance as an example.

"Use your hips, follow through, keep your wrist aligned."
