Mary considered the plan. The point of the contract was to draw force away from the main fighting. Enough to weaken the response elsewhere without bringing down so much heat on their head that they melted. But how much would the enemy forces listen to the panicked locals? Mary had never really given though to that, she was used to considering things as far as tactical goals, not strategic ones.
The pat on the arm from the lieutenant did cause a minor flinch.
"...confusion is advantageous too. but what type of people are the local leadership? do we know anything about what they're like? people react differently as commanders, so finding the right button to press is important." she added quietly.
