[Yori Hakamada]

And now Yori's squinting in the sunlight as she does her best to crawl all over the deck, trying to keep an eye towards any connections or where the lines from the cave door might be running through or to. She is squinting a lot.

Day 8 LA, investigation/Perception to check around the observation area: 4d10o10k2 8

Yori had a strong hunch. An inkling of a clue. She was proven right.

While Richard was taking in the view and noting the sturdy foundation she was more suspicious of the second level. Why was there one? She goes up the stairs so she can cross over to it. It looked like an upper level for raised views at first, but there was a big bush in the back. She pushes the leaves out of the way and finds a metal door built into the rock. It was a watertight dog door, the kind with a circular hatch opener you turned, which was in relatively good condition.

"Reasonably unexpected. Shall we investigate further?"
Keeping her pistol drawn and after a quick glance around Yori does her best to try and open the door up.

[Richard Winter]

Richard made a long face and put his hand on it. "We were just here earlier," he shook his head. "Well, whatever."
He helped Yori open the door.

Clearly Richard and Yori had been too smitten with one another to notice at the time. Moving on...

The door would have been difficult for one person to open, but with both trying it gives way. A narrow metal corridor leads into the cliff. There were small lights spaced out along the ceiling. It looked like a bunker complex. To the right was a metal door, slightly ajar, and up ahead was another latch door. The walls were cracked plaster. It was all very dusty and worn.

Richard walked slowly forward, his rifle at the ready. He carefully checked the door, which was ajar on the right, first to see if it was trapped.

Yori peers into the passageway

"I suppose we were quite distracted. I am happy to miss a secret door for such things. But now, let's see where this leads?"

[GM Yuusha]

The ajar door leads into a small room with empty aged wooden shelves, a dust covered wooden table and a flickering light overhead. There was a ladder that went down into a room below. It was probably the upper floor of the viewing platform.

[Richard Winter]

"Clear" Richard reported. He carefully approached the ladder and looked down.
"Yori, check the other door," he said.

Yori hustles over and opens the door, gun at the ready.

Richard sees a room below that was a little larger. He can't make out too much as it is dark down there. Time to turn the torch on.

Up the corridor Yori struggles to open the door, but the latch does slowly slide around and the door makes a few loud clicks as the bolts are pulled back. It opens...

To reveal a large hangar room in very good condition. There were numerous boxes full of parts along the walls and some neatly placed on racks. The room had ample lighting and gantries surrounding a large mech she didn't immediately recognise. To the left she could see the other side of the entrance they'd discovered in the cave. There was another hatch door at the back of the large room, which was open, and more pressing than that was the panting woman beside it holding a pistol.



She looks up with a glare toward Yori.

"GET OUT."

"No, please put down your weapon. Richard, I have encountered an armed hostile."

She wasn't about to put down her weapon. Richard was in the small room down the corridor. It would take him precious time to arrive. Yori had a moment to react first.

Yori fires without hesitation but manages to miss, the lieutenant will dive behind any cover available.

(Treating that as a complex action to attack and a free action to move to use the doorway as light cover. A simple action is required to hunker behind the wall for medium cover)



As soon as she is targeted the woman drops prone. She rolls into the cover of a stack of heavy crates as Yori's shots hit where she had been.

(1 Edge spent as a free reaction to gain full cover -> medium cover)

Lifting her gun steady, she pops up and fires a single shot at Yori's torso. The shot is exceptionally accurate, striking near her sternum. The full metal jacket bullet punctures through her coolant vest.

(32 damage after reduction)

"I have been shot."
Yori slumps down against the wall, one hand clutching at her bullet wound.

"Fuck"
Richard was running towards Yori and shielding her.
Curse my greed he thought
"HEY LADY, THOSE AREN'T PANCAKES YOU'RE THROWING AROUND!"
