While Yori radioed for support, Richard took a closer look at the mechs to see if he could find any signs of who they were meant for or who they might have belonged to.

Yori gives the hangar a good look over while Richard focused on the powered down mech. She finds endo-steel armour slabs, double heat sinks and mech blueprints. It would take some time to read through all the paperwork, but this mech was an 'Exterminator'. She'd not seen it before. Must indeed be rare. Aside from this and some other mech replacement parts are a few more infantry weapons. Much more eye catching is a box half-full of uncut gemstones and another with silver bullion bars. They were both stamped from the Free Worlds League. The whole room was an absolute treasure trove.

Yori heads out to radio back to base. Unfortunately, the signal strength is too weak this far out. Not without a field relay.

Back inside Richard is checking out the mech. He'd heard from Yori about the name. Definitely an old design. He gets it open, Hayley watching him all the while, and he finds a neurohelmet inside. If this was the mech that had triggered their sensors, and that seemed very likely, then she was almost certainly the pilot. That definitely matched her actions. The mech itself was in very good condition, with fresh khaki paint as if it were new from a factory. There were no markings or unit logos or anything of the sort. It was almost like a display piece.

As Richard is checking out the mech he hears a brief alarm noise from the hallway Hayley had come from. It lasted only three or four seconds...

Richard looked from above to see if Hailey was still there, she was supposed to be too hurt to run away. From his position on the mech he had at least a good overview of the warehouse.

Hayley was still there. She'd stopped watching him however. She was just laying there.

After a moment's thought Richard decides to play it safe. He grabs the neurohelmet and he runs out onto the viewing platform. From there he circles around to his Vulcan, climbing in and starting it with Yori taking the rumble seat once again.

It was time to head back to base.

Meanwhile, a minute later inside...

"What in tarnation is all this?!"

The sheriff signalled his deputies forward into the hallway from the room with the hidden stairs. There was a trophy room full of expensive old bottles of liquor. He was scanning the room when one of his deputies jogged back to him, her gun lowered but still drawn.

"Sheriff, you need to come see this..."

He pulled his eyes away from the unbelievable find. The owner was eccentric, but she'd have some explaining to do. The staff too. They'd directed him to the hidden door they'd last seen the owner head into after some raider mech had apparently shown up. He hadn't believed it until he'd found all this.

He gave his underling a wave as he plods her way. "I'm coming, I'm coming. Give me a quick update Betty."

"No sign of the black mech. The owner's down here, shot and tied up, but we're seeing to her. Should make a full recovery. There's err... something more Sheriff."

Their footsteps clapped along the concrete corridor.

"But what? That's already... oh my fucking god." He stopped dead in the entryway to the hidden hangar. His jaw dropped. "WHAT IN ABSOLUTE BLOODY TARNATION?!"
