"Hmm," Gianna murmurs thoughtfully. "So you're sticking around because you think the people who'd want you to keep going want something bad to happen to you? I'm not sure that adds up, B," she says gently, raising her eyebrows to show it's a genuine question rather than an argument. She folds her arms over her chest, but takes another half step closer to him.

"No, I stick around cause grandma would want me to. And cause there's folks here worth keepin alive. Those six would rather I died instead of them. Specially since they died for nothing," he says.

"Hmm," she hums thoughtfully. Gianna turns so she's perpendicular to him, shoulders close but not too close, as she looks back at George.

"Who's on your worth-keeping-alive list," she asks with gentle curiosity.

"Anyone I've met really. Ain't met anyone in the Angels I want dead. Just a few I've disagreed with. Took the liberty of working out problems with a bit of good old fashioned violence in the past. A few could probably use a bit of the same in the future. But nobody's so bad I wouldn't put my life down to protect theirs," he says, as though he legitimately believes any person in the company is worth more alive than him.

"But if you're wondering specific people. Hellcat's been through enough, so's Headshot. Life ain't been nice, but they fought through. Any of the Starlit Knights too, Mei and Kid and his lance. I'd rather they kept getting the chance to continue. Also don't want to leave any kids like Lawrence's down a mom or pop, which ain't a problem if I go."

"I don't got a death wish, but any situation where I go in someone else's place here is pretty much an improvement. Though I'd rather be able to come out alive in the process of covering someone's ass."

"Sounds like you've got a lot of protecting to do around here," she replies, looking at him along her shoulder. "Maybe put Princess on that list for me? Just below the 'been through enough' folks. She's... got a lot of potential, if she doesn't get killed out here," the Canopian says seriously.

"Sure," he says, not being really clear if he was agreeing with one of the sentiments or both.

"Was just a short list of folks I know have had it rough, not a list of everyone I'd take a hit for. I'd already be down to take a hit for you or your sister. We might not talk much, but your still the same team."

[Gianna Rains]

Gianna gives a little huff of a chuckle.

"Well, I like to think I can take care of myself at this point, but I've also had a good run. Been in a bad place and rescued more than once, and luck can't last forever. But Princess, and Spare and Lights Out... I gotta look after them." Then her time switches from somber to joking. "And a bunch of you others, now too," she says with a grin. Her face shows the serious thoughts aren't gone, but that it's time to move to lighter talk.

He nods at what she says and moves on. He considered asking about Mei-Ling and realized that was a bad idea immediately. So he stands there and looks up at her mech quietly.
